AbstractGeodetic networks are important for most engineering projects. Generally, a geodetic network is designed according to precision, reliability, and cost criteria. This paper provides a new criterion considering the distances between the Net Points (NPs) and the Project Border (PB) in terms of Neighboring (N). Optimization based on the N criterion seeks to relocate the NPs as close as possible to PB, which leads to creating shorter distances between NPs or those distances linking NPs with Target Points (TPs) to be measured inside PB. These short distances can improve the precision of NPs and increase the accuracy of observations and transportation costs between NPs themselves or between NPs and TPs (in real applications). Three normalized N objective functions based on L1, L2, and L∞‒norms were formulated to build the corresponding N optimization models, NL1; NL2; and NL∞ and to determine the best solution. Each model is subjected to safety, precision, reliability, and cost constraints. The feasibility of the N criterion is demonstrated by a simulated example. The results showed the ability of NL∞ to determine the safest positions for the NPs near PB. These new positions led to improving the precision of the network and preserving the initial reliability and observations cost, due to contradiction problems. Also, N results created by all N models demonstrate their theoretical feasibility in improving the accuracy of the observations and transportation cost between points. It is recommended to use multi-objective optimization models to overcome the contradiction problem and consider the real application to generalize the benefits of N models in designing the networks.

The classical weapon target allocation (WTA) problem has been evaluated within the scope of electronic warfare (EW) threat assessment with an electromagnetic effect-based jammer- tactical radio engagement approach. As different from the literature, optimum allocation of non-directional jammers operating at different operating UHF frequencies under constraints to RF emitters is aimed in this study. The values of the targets are modelled using an original threat assessment algorithm developed that takes into account operating frequencies, jamming distance, and weather conditions. The computed jammer-target effect matrix has been solved under different scenarios according to the efficiency and cost constraints. It is seen at the end of the simulations that the allocation results for EW applications largely depend on the effect ratio used. The better results are taken in the case of under 0.5 effect ratio. Finally, jammer-radio allocation problem specified at the suggested model is solved successfully and effectively.

In developing countries today, population growth and the penetration of higher standard of living appliances in homes has resulted in a rapidly increasing residential load. In South Africa, the recent rolling blackouts and electricity price increase only highlighted this reality, calling for sustainable measures to reduce overall consumption and peak load. The dawn of the smart grid concept, embedded systems, and ICTs have paved the way for novel Home Energy Management Systems (HEMS) design. In this regard, the Internet of Things (IoT), an enabler for intelligent and efficient energy management systems, is the subject of increasing attention for optimizing HEMS design and mitigating its deployment cost constraints. In this work, we propose an IoT platform for residential energy management applications focusing on interoperability, low cost, technology availability, and scalability. We addressed the backend complexities of IoT Home Area Networks (HAN) using the Open Consortium Foundation (OCF) IoTivity-Lite middleware. To augment the quality, servicing, reduce the cost, and the development complexities, this work leverages open-source cloud technologies from Back4App as Backend-as-a-Service (BaaS) to provide consumers and utilities with a data communication platform within an experimental study illustrating time and space agnostic “mind-changing” energy feedback, Demand Response Management (DRM) under a peak shaving algorithm yielded peak load reduction around 15% of the based load, and appliance operation control using a HEM App via an Android smartphone.

Abstract The energy transition to renewable energy and hydrogen as an energy carrier, along with low-carbon footprint production targets in the oil and gas industry act as a catalytic for exploring the role of hydrogen in oil and gas production. For upstream and midstream operations, potential opportunities for using hydrogen as an energy carrier are being developed both in hydrogen generation (X-to-hydrogen) as well as in hydrogen consumption (hydrogen-to-X), but not without series of technical and economical challenges. This paper presents potential use cases in upstream and midstream facilities for hydrogen generation and consumption, be it both from hydrocarbon processing resultant in what is called "blue hydrogen" or from integration with renewable energy to form what is called "green hydrogen". It also explains process integration requirements with diagrams for full-cycle green hydrogen use from generation to consumption and its interaction with renewable energy technologies to achieve low to zero-carbon emission power supply systems. Different hydrogen generation and conversion technologies are reviewed as part of the modeling process. Green hydrogen feasibility is assessed in terms of operational efficiency and cost constraints. Hybrid hydrogen and renewable energy power supply systems are simulated and presented according to the intended applications of use in oil and gas facilities. This paper provides a feasibility analysis and hydrogen technology integration potential with renewable energy for applications in oil and gas remote facilities power supply. It also shows emerging hydrogen technologies potential for use in upstream and midstream applications.

However, in this case, many small and medium enterprises are hampered carry out solid DRP planning because of significant cost constraints quite a lot is needed. The use of cloud computing g can minimize costs. In this paper, it is proposed to combine the two concepts of long-term planning and utilization of multi cloud in its implementation on recovery plan with cloud computing. From result research conducted using AWS multi-cloud and Microsoft Azure, obtained a low risk level on days six and seven with segments 2 and 3 utilizing long-term research

This study was carried out to develop a whole ecosystem-based erosion and sediment transport control management system of UKM Campus Watershed which is a sub-basin of Langat River Basin catchment. This is done through the development of an Erosion and Sediment Control (ESC) model for the UKM campus watershed that includes localised technology, information and communication system, as well as awareness and community participation for the greening and rehabilitation of UKM Campus. The management system was developed to give a strong participatory element and to ensure that the model will be placed into a user friendly context to make data input and model operation simple for stakeholders with limited resources and training in the use of the models. The application of hydromulching (bioengineering technology) is adopted as part of the ESC study by using the local components to recover most landslides occurred in UKM Campus. It is also as an option where the post-landslide restoration works involving conventional civil designs are costly and sometimes not practical at remote sites. Therefore (due to cost constraints), the remoteness of the sites and low risk to lives and property, bioengineering was the option taken for erosion control, slope stabilization and vegetation establishment.

PurposeAlthough sport museums are considered an important sector in nostalgia sport tourism, annual visitations of the major sport Hall of Fames (HoF) have been decreasing, often resulting in operational and financial difficulties for the HoF. The current study examined the relationship between sport museum image, motivation, constraints, monetary and non-monetary promotions (as a mediator), and visit intention among those who have attended or never attended.Design/methodology/approachData was collected from the residents in the Northeast Ohio area via an online survey questionnaire using Qualtrics (N = 1,607). Two sets of data parameters were generated based on consumers previous visitation to Pro Football HoF (visited group n = 754; never-visited group n = 853) and each group's monetary and non-monetary promotion models (total of four models) were analyzed. Descriptive statistics and reliability tests were processed via IBM SPSS Statistics 26 and the structural relationships among the constructs were examined using SmartPLS 3.FindingsAmong all the antecedents, positive perceived image of HoF has been identified as the most significant predictor for both promotions and visit (revisit) intention. Social motivation was found to be a strong driver for visiting a sports museum regardless of the types of promotions. Promotions' mediation effects were found. The monetary promotion between cost constraints and visit intention implied, cost constraints can be mitigated through monetary promotion.Originality/valueThis is the first study examining the role of relationship between image, motivation, constraints and visit intention relative to sport museums. Results provide practical insights for the sport museum marketers and researchers relative to visit intension.

Pressure ulcers (PU) are one of the most frequent hazards of long-term bedridden patients. With the continuous increase of aging, the number of long-term bedridden disabled and semi-disabled elderly people is increasing. At the same time, there is a serious shortage of professional pressure ulcer nursing staff. There is also a lack of flexible turning equipment for PU prevention. The research in the field of pressure ulcer prevention at home and abroad is carried out steadily, and the equipment for turning over by pneumatic or mechanical drive is developed. However, these devices often have insurmountable defects, such as complex structure, cost constraints, difficult control, weak body feeling, and so on. Under these circumstances, a set of pneumatic turnover mattresses based on clinical nursing methods have been developed. The mattress is divided into a turnover area and two support areas. The turnover airbag is linked with the support airbag to improve the patient’s comfort when passively turning over. The turnover amplitude and interval can be adjusted to provide a personalized turnover experience for bedridden patients. To improve the safety of the turning mattress during automatic turning, we also add a temperature sensor based on the principle of infrared reflection to monitor the status of bedridden patients, which can realize real-time temperature measurement, monitoring of getting out of bed and monitoring of the turning process.
