In terms of energy generation and consumption, ships are autonomous and isolated power systems with energy requirements related to the type and kind of power demands and according to ship types: passenger ships, or commercial ships. Power supply on ships is traditionally based on engines thermal generators, which use fossil fuels, diesel, or natural gas. Due to the continuous operation of thermal generators in ships, this ends up increasing polluting gas emissions for the environment, mainly CO2. A combination of Renewable Energy Sources (RES) with traditional ship thermal engines can reduce CO2 emissions, resulting in a ‘greener’ interaction between ships and the environment. Due to the varying power needs for ship operation, considering the varying nature of load demands during long distance travels and during harbor entry, the use of RES must be evaluated. This paper presents a new control method to balance LNG ship load demands and power generation from RES, based on an accurate model and solution in real conditions. The Energy Management System (EMS) is designed and implemented in a Finite State Machine structure using the logical design of state transitions. The results prove that the reduction of consumption of fossil fuels is feasible, and, if this is combined with RES, it reduces CO2 emissions.

One of the most promising new information technologies is analytical databases that allow us to analyze the dynamics of the behavior of the control object in the historical aspect. The introduction of analytical databases increases the efficiency of information systems. In particular, one of the criteria for effectiveness is the security of an information system, on which analytical databases have a fairly significant impact, which at first glance is not obvious. In the material of this article, the problems of organizing and implementing security in analytical databases will be considered, as well as the method of logical design of information support for distributed information systems of critical application under the prism of ensuring the security of this system.

The brModelo tool is a initiative of the UFSC Database Group. Its first version was developed in 2005, and its main purpose is to help teaching of relational database design. Compared to similar tools, its main differentials are the support to all steps of the classical database design methodology, user interaction during the logical design step, as well as the support to all extended Entity-Relationship concepts. With more than fifteen years of existence, the brModelo was very well-accepted by the brazilian Database community, which motivated the development and release of several versions of the tool. This article presents the history of brModelo, including its available versions and their functionalities. Additionally, we detail its functionalities and compare it with popular related tools.

The article deals with new information technologies for building a data warehouse in a distributed information system of critical application. The existing principles of creating data warehouses, as well as the outlined ways to improve them, are always associated with the collection, storage and use of information that is recorded at a certain point in time, while they store data corresponding to the last time count. This approach to the development and application of data warehouses can be called static, since it does not store or display the behavior of objects at past points in time. However, the objects that are included in the data warehouse have pronounced dynamic properties and therefore must be displayed dynamically. The way out of this situation is the creation of analytical data warehouses, which will provide an opportunity to more effectively solve traditional and qualitatively new tasks in the system under consideration.

Metode yang digunakan adalah metode Framework for the Applications of System Technology (FAST) dimana tahapannya meliputi lingkup definisi, analisis permasalahan, analisis kebutuhan, Logical design, dan tampilan fisik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan sistem informasi dapat memudahkan proses Shopping Finish Good dari warehouse, mempercepat waktu proses Shopping Finish Good sebesar 96 detik/box, dan menghilangkan pekerjaan manual yaitu report produk outstorage di Departemen PPIC PT.Meidoh Indonesia

This work presents the logical design, connections between NIM and VME electronic modules, and the data acquisition programming to build a complete detector readout system. The test experiments were carried out with commercial silicon PIN diode S3590-09 bare detectors bombarded by charged particles from a 241Am α-source and Rutherford elastic backscattering (RBS) protons induced by 2.5 MeV proton beam bombarding on an Au-on-glass target, and with a NaI scintillation detector bombarded by gammas from 27Al(p, γ)28Si reaction with proton beam energy of 1.379 MeV. The test showed that the spectrometer operated steadily and its versatility for different kind of detector. The energy resolutions of the Si diodes were less than 0.5% energy of a charged particle, which satisfies the foreseen requirement for the upcoming experiments.

This paper complements the Seow and Pan self-study online tutorial by providing a condensed version of the REA data modeling. It provides the basic knowledge in designing a relational database in AIS. Furthermore, a clear methodology is provided on how to create a system logical design using a design approach that relies on business knowledge. This paper can be used as a teaching aid for self-study material, a flipped classroom model or as supplementary material for an adopted textbook.
