The article discusses the methodological aspects of teaching algorithmization and the basics of robotics using the educational constructor LEGO MINDSTORMS EV3 in the TRIK Studio environment. The advantages of using the TRIK Studio programming environment to control both a real robot "live" and a virtual one in simulation mode are shown. Based on the methodology for introducing basic algorithmic constructions and types of algorithms by I.G. Semakin, examples of solving a system of problems using commands to control the EV3 robot in the TRIK Studio environment are given. The LEGO MINDSTORMS EV3 Robot is seen as a new performer in the TRIK Studio environment. The article highlights directions and provides examples of tasks for further mastering the basics of robotics and algorithmization. The parallel study of the basics of robotics with the study of the algorithmization section based on the task approach allows you to organize the learning process in the informatics course based on interdisciplinary and STEM approaches, to implement the requirements of the Approximate Basic Educational Program of Basic General Education (2015).

To allow robots to better complete teaching tasks in the education field, based on artificial intelligence robot technology, the academic benchmark is designed for information technology teaching. First, LEGO MINDSTORMS EV3 is introduced for statement, which is developed through information technology courses based on robot education. Then, according to the sensor teaching in robot education, the teaching contents are designed for the information technology course. After that, the teaching method is improved based on sensor teaching for the information technology course. Finally, the feasibility is evaluated of the existing of teaching resources, and the effect of information technology teaching is analyzed through a questionnaire survey. The results show that more than 80% of students are interested in robot teaching, and more than 70% of students can master relevant theoretical knowledge in practical operation, which proves that robot education can arouse students' interest in information technology courses. In conclusion, the learning methods proposed in this study can enable students to better master related theories, and improve students' operation and innovation abilities. The study provides a reference for the application of artificial intelligence robot technology in the field of education.

Computer Science is nowadays very popular and requested in almost all companies. Many companies would like to have more IT professionals. Therefore we would like to motivate students from the beginning of their education to learn Computer Science, especially programming. There are many educational aids, which could be used for showing students, that programming is not so hard, as they think. The contribution describes our experience with using the online environment Microsoft MakeCode and the most popular educational robot Lego Mindstorms EV3 in an extracurricular activity for primary school children at Matej Bel University, Slovakia. In this paper, we present environment MakeCode and examples of tasks, which we are using for teaching programming in this environment.

This paper integrates LEGO Mindstorms EV3 robots into undergraduate control systems course to improve students’ learning experiences using Matlab as a development tool. This platform facilitates the students throughout teaching the course in learning the essential concepts of control systems such as modeling, stability analysis, and skill of designing controllers for the dynamic systems. The participants of the course identify the transfer function of the robot and compare it with the transfer function developed by using laws of physics. The students, then compare the identified model with the mathematical model by using stability analysis techniques, finding out that the stability range is much smaller for the experimental model than the mathematical model. After that, several types of controllers are designed and tested on the experimental model and EV3 robots, which demonstrates that there exists discrepancies between conceptual and practical designs. Finally, a comparison of students’ apprehension of a set of capabilities before and after taking the course shows the value of using EV3 robots on improving students’ learning experiences of control systems course.

Jackfruit frozen confection has been mechanically characterised in situ by using compression tests. There are no available studies on the mechanical behaviour of jackfruit frozen confection.   The aim of this study is to identify the mechanical properties of jackfruit frozen confections formulated with different concentrations of jackfruit puree. In this study, the experimental analyses are conducted using a compression test device made from LEGO Mindstorms EV3. The portable device is placed inside a freezer to enable the measurements to be done in low temperatures (-20oC). This is to overcome the limitation of an actual texture analyser which can only be operated at room temperature. The mechanical properties of jackfruit frozen confections at different jackfruit puree concentrations (10%, 20% and 30%) are obtained using the tester and analysed. The tests conducted are uniaxial compression, stress relaxation test and multi-step stress relaxation test. It has been observed that frozen confection with 20% jackfruit puree concentration (JF20) is able to withstand a higher force of compression (27.79kPa) compared to the ones with 10% (JF10) and 30% (JF30) concentrations, at 21.15kPa and 10.48kPa, respectively. For stress relaxation test, JF30 has the highest increasing stress for a strain of 0.05 to 0.2 but it decreases at a strain of 0.3 to 0.4. The results of the multi-step relaxation test on JF30 show agreement with the other two tests where the stress decays starting from the 3rd step until the 5th step of the test. This study provides information on the behaviour of jackfruit frozen confection when subjected to compression and stress that imitates the movement during consumption.
