Stenochlaena palustris and Sauropus androgynus are known to contains antimicrobial substances such as flavonoids, saponins and tannins compounds.The purpose of this study was to analyzes the antimicrobial activity of young and old leaf infusions of S. palustris and S. androgynus leaves against Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli and Candida albicans. Analyze the antibacterial activity of a single preparations with a combination preparation of S.palustris (SP) and S.androgynus (SA) leaves infusion against S.aureus, E.coli and C.albicans. Leaves of S.palustris young part (SP1) taken 0-10 cm from shoots and old parts (SP2) 11-20 cm from shoots, while leaves of S.androgynus young part (SA1) leaves number 1 - 10 from the top and the old part (SA2) leaves number 11-20 from the top. The results showed that a single infusion of SP1 75% and SP2 75%, SA1 90% and SA2 90%, and a combination of SP1 75% and SA1 75%, SP2 75% and SA2 75% have the same activity as ampicillin in S.aureus. Single infusion of SP1 90% and SP2 90%, SA1 90% and SA2 90%, combination of SP1 75% and SA1 80% and the combination of SP2 80% and SA2 60% have the same activity as ciprofloxacin in E. coli. Single infusion of SP1 90% and SP2 90%, and a combination of SP1 80% and SA1 80%, SP2 80% and SA2 80% have the same activity as ketoconazole in C.albicans. The difference in activity due to differences in leaf parts used only occurred in E. coli, whereas in S.aureus and C.albicans (p <0.05).

Teething of temporary teeth in children is a natural and physiological process. However, in some cases, it can be accompanied by numerous unpleasant symptoms, such as fever, decreased appetite, anxiety in the child, sleep disturbance and indigestion. Knowledge of the physiology of teething, anatomical and physiological characteristics and factors affecting the process of teething of temporary teeth in children is important for the timely provision of assistance to such children. The article describes in detail the duration of teething, mechanisms, age and constitutional peculiarities during teething, the causes of pathological teething (dentitio difficiLis). The authors provided symptoms and differential diagnosis of delayed eruption of the teeth - the teething syndrome and presented methods and techniques for reducing pain intensity. The advantages and disadvantages of the main drugs that are used to treat the teething syndrome are also outlined: anti-infLammatory drugs (acetaminophen, ibuprofen), topical drugs (gels, ointments), homeopathic preparations. Particular attention is paid to the advantages of homeopathic combination preparations, which are highly effective, safe and provide a minimal pharmacological Load on the child’s body. CLinicaL cases of children aged 6.5 months and 8 months with teething symptoms and the use of a homeopathic combination preparation are presented. Positive changes were observed: heaLth improvement, anxiety reLief, fever reLief, appetite improvement. This case has demonstrated how non-drug measures, mother support and homeopathic preparations can effectiveLy heLp treat the baby’s teething syndrome without using non-steroidaL anti-infLammatory drugs and topicaL preparations.

In this article we deal with the problem of low adherence of patients with ischemic heart disease (IHD) to drug therapy congruent to current recommendations including patients who underwent invasive interventions aimed at myocardial revascularization. Based on analysis of literature, we undertake an attempt to answer the question: which of components of this therapy patients with IHD are the least likely to continue taking? We also discuss approaches to the search for optimal composition of a combination preparation with fixed doses of an adreno-blocker and angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor. Based on analysis of literature we undertook an attempt to answer a question: which of components of this therapy patients with IHD are least likely to continue taking. We also included in this article discussion of approaches to the search of optimal composition of a combination preparation containing fixed doses of a в-adrenoblocker and angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor, as well as data on the role in the treatment of patients with IHD of bisoprolol and perindopril. Fixed doses of these agents have been included into a novel combination preparation.

Inflammatory diseases of the pharynx constitute one of the most significant nosologies groups in the ENT organ diseases profile. According to modern epidemiological data, acute and chronic tonsillopharyngitis are inferior only to influenza and other forms of ARVI with predominantly nasal and paranasal sinuses, as well as the lower respiratory tract inflammation in prevalence among the population. Infectious pathogens are the most common etiology of inflammatory diseases of the pharynx. Accordingly, the pharmacological agents should be selected among the drugs having pronounced antimicrobial activity against both bacterial and other organisms - viral and fungal, and an analgesic effect, as sore throat is the main symptom of tonsillofingitis. The combination preparation Septolete® total is one of such drugs.

<p class="Abstract">The aim of this study was to identify the antimicrobial susceptibility pattern and relevant treatment options in a neonatal intensive care unit from January 2012 and June 2016. Out of the total 78 culture positive samples, Gram positive and Gram negative microorganisms were 26% and 74% respectively. <em>Acinetobacter</em> remained the predominant isolate (32.1%) followed by <em>Klebsiella</em> species (18.0%). Most of the Gram positive isolates exhibited higher resistance to penicillin, cephalosporin, macrolides, gentamycin and quinolones. Gram positive isolates had sensitivity of 100% to linezolid, vancomycin, chloramphenicol followed by rifampicin (84%). In comparison to other commonly used antibiotics, sensitivity to these four medicines was statistically significant (p&lt;0.05). Similarly, most of the Gram negative bacteria showed resistance to cephalosporin, aminoglycosides. About two-third cases showed resistant to meropenum, quinolones and combination preparation of piperacillin and tazobactam. Overall sensitivity among the Gram negative isolates was to polymixin B (100%) and minocycline (97%), followed by colistin (83%). In comparison to other commonly used antibiotics, sensitivity to these three medicines was statistically significant (p&lt;0.05).</p>

AbstractHerbal combination preparations are widely used in traditional herbal medicine and are even established as modern evidence-based herbal medicinal products. The rationale behind such combinations is often questioned and assessing the contribution of each of the combination partners to overall activity is challenging. STW 5 (Iberogast) is such a combination with confirmed clinical efficacy in functional gastrointestinal disorders. It consists of nine plant extracts responsible for its multitarget function in these multifactorial diseases with their heterogeneous and overlapping pathomechanisms. This makes the combination an ideal candidate for the use of the newly described method of stepwise cluster analysis, a standardized procedure to transfer heterogeneous pharmacological data, from different models, into effect size categories. This allows for a stepwise cluster formation starting from the level of single tests up to the level of different pathomechanisms involved in the development of a certain disease, in this case functional dyspepsia subtypes and irritable bowel syndrome. In the current article, an overview on the pharmacological data on STW 5 and its single components is provided. The data are further analyzed using stepwise cluster formation, resulting in a summary of the different modes of action of STW 5 along with an evaluation of the contribution of the single constituents to the overall multitarget effects of the herbal combination preparation.
