Abstract: Behavior of maintaining denture hygiene is an important factor in the success of denture care. Poor denture hygiene maintenance can cause problems for dental and oral health such as caries, gingivitis, stomatitis, xerostomia, candidiasis, and periodontal disease, especially in users of acrylic-based removable dentures. This study was aimed to obtain the oral hygiene maintenance behavior of denture wearers. This was a literature review study using secondary data sources of the Google Scholar and PubMed databases with keywords, as follows: maintenance behavior, oral hygiene, denture users, acrylic removable partial dentures. Data selection were carried out based on inclusion and exclusion criteria, followed by a critical appraisal. The selection results in six literatures consisting in the form of cross-sectional studies. The results showed that the hygiene behavior of acrylic-based removable dentures in the community was classified as poor. In conclusion, maintenance of oral hygiene behavior of acrylic removable partial denture wearers is classified as poor due to lack of knowledge of most denture wearers to keep their dentures clean. Keywords: maintenance behavior of oral hygiene; denture wearers; acrylic removable partial dentures Abstrak: Perilaku memelihara kebersihan gigi tiruan merupakan faktor penting dalam keberhasilan perawatan gigi tiruan.

PurposeThe purpose of this study was to evaluate the measurement structure of a simplified version of the Multiple Sclerosis Self-Management Scale (MSSMS) in a sample of 256 individuals with multiple sclerosis (MS).MethodsExploratory factor analysis was utilized to uncover meaningful and interpretable factors.ResultsThe study yielded three factors as both meaningful and interpretable (medication compliance, MS knowledge, and health maintenance behavior). These factors are reliable and correlated with functional disability and community participation in the theoretically expected directions.ConclusionResults show the MSSMS to be a promising rehabilitation assessment tool for individuals with MS and rehabilitation counselors to evaluate self-management support needs in the interview, assessment, and rehabilitation planning protocols.

Self-grooming of the antennae is frequently observed in ants. This antennal maintenance behavior is presumed to be essential for effective chemical communication but, to our knowledge, this has not yet been well studied. When we removed the antenna-cleaning apparatuses of the Japanese carpenter ant (C. japonicus) to limit the self-grooming of the antennae, the worker ants demonstrated the self-grooming gesture as usual, but the antennal surface could not be sufficiently cleaned. By using scanning electron microscopy with NanoSuit, we observed the ants’ antennae for up to 48 h and found that the antennal surfaces gradually became covered with self-secreted surface material. Concurrently, the self-grooming-limited workers gradually lost their behavioral responsiveness to undecane—the alarm pheromone. Indeed, their locomotive response to the alarm pheromone diminished for up to 24 h after the antenna cleaner removal operation. In addition, the self-grooming-limited workers exhibited less frequent aggressive behavior toward non-nestmate workers, and 36 h after the operation, approximately half of the encountered non-nestmate workers were accepted as nestmates. These results suggest that the antennal sensing system is affected by excess surface material; hence, their proper function is prevented until they are cleaned.

Consensually nonmonogamous (CNM) relationships include a variety of relational types that allow for multiple sexual or romantic partners. Although many CNM dynamics occur, the most commonly addressed by both research and popular media include swinging relationships, open relationships, and polyamorous relationships. Many people practice some form of CNM at some point in time, with some estimates suggesting approximately one in five people will be involved in some kind of CNM relational dynamic at some point in their lifetime. At the core of their relational practices, many CNM relationships center communication, openness, and honesty. Despite this, CNM relationships have received less attention from communication researchers comparative to other social science disciplines. CNM relational practices are independent of other relational identities, but may intersect with other identities such as sexual orientation or those who practice kink or bondage, domination, and sadomasochism. The interdisciplinary research literature on relational communication and CNM examines relational maintenance behaviors in CNM relationships, primarily polyamorous relationships, relational communication and jealousy in multiple partner dynamics, polyamorous identity disclosure, and intercultural communication in polyamorous communities. CNM relational communication practices emphasize relational maintenance behavior in multiple-partner dynamics and how jealousy may be communicatively managed in CNM relationships.

PurposeAs social networking sites (SNSs) gain popularity, they are being widely used by entrepreneurs to obtain social capital to carry out business ventures. However not all SNS usage behaviors promote entrepreneurship. Only when individuals actively participate in SNSs relationship maintenance behaviors they can obtain resources that are conducive to promoting social entrepreneurship. The aim of this study is to explore the role of WeChat relationship maintenance behavior (WRMB) on social entrepreneurial intention (SEI) with dual narcissism as an essential antecedent that affects SNS use.Design/methodology/approachBased on dual narcissism theory and the theoretical framework that networking is a critical skill and activity for the success of social entrepreneurship, this study proposes a serial mediation model that explores the formation of SEI. This study collected data from a sample of 275 MBA students in China and applied multiple regression and confirmatory factor analysis techniques to test the research model.FindingsThe results reveal narcissistic admiration (NA) is positively associated with WRMB, while narcissistic rivalry (NR) is negatively associated with such behavior. And the positive impact of NA on SEI can be explained by WRMB and social capital paths, while the negative impact of NR cannot.Originality/valueThis research is the first application of dual narcissism in the field of SEI, which provides a new way to explain the antecedents of SEI under the social network. The findings provide an effective reference path for social entrepreneurship education in universities and educational institutions and enlighten the correct distinction between dual narcissism in entrepreneurial psychological consultation.

Introduction: The realities of today demonstrate high importance of the ability of healthcare professionals to raise awareness of health knowledge in the population. Skills of health promotion develop already in the course of training in medical educational establishments. Our objective was to assess the dynamics of building health knowledge in medical students in the process of studying. Materials and methods: We conducted a targeted questionnaire-based survey of 264 medical students including 167 students of the Faculty of Public Health of the Pacific State Medical University (hereinafter referred to as University) specializing in preventive medicine, clinical psychology, and medical biochemistry and 97 students of medical and nursing departments of the Vladivostok Medical College (hereinafter referred to as College) in the first and final year of study. A specially developed questionnaire included 25 questions on basic knowledge of clinical medicine, health, and health maintenance behavior. Data analysis was conducted using methods of descriptive statistics (cross-tabulation analysis and Student’s t-test). Conclusions: Our findings helped improve the curriculum of hygienic disciplines by including optional classes aimed at consolidating theoretical knowledge gained in the study of hygienic and epidemiological disciplines and at acquiring practical skills in accordance with professional competencies.
