Abstract: This paper presents an experimental investigation carried out on eco-friendly fly ash bricks having various percentage of fly ash, lime, gypsum, stone dust, coarse aggregate and boiler slag. Raw materials are added to the pan mixer with different mix proportions and are mixed thoroughly with water until a homogeneous mixture is formed. Prepared homogeneous mixture is fed into the press and moulded to a brick of size 200 x 200 x 300 mm using vibro-hydraulic press. Moulded bricks are air dried for 24 hours, arranged in stacks and are cured for a period of 28 days by sprinkling the water to achieve the optimum strength. Compressive strength, water absorption, efflorescence, dimension tolerance and density tests are conducted as per BIS codal provisions. Eco friendly fly ash bricks having varying proportions of industrial by-products with less content of stone dust satisfy compressive, water absorption, efflorescence, dimensional tolerance and density requirements as per BIS codal provisions and can be used in structures as a sustainable construction material. Abstract: Since land is scarce in metropolitan locations, it's common for tall building to be erected in C form. With the use of software ETABS 2019, this study examines the features of wind-induced story displacement and story drift operating on tall Cshaped models, with and without shear wall. Also, empirical formulae are used for manual calculations and to obtain the wind force and designed wind pressure on C-shaped tall building using codal provisions of IS 875 (Part 3) : 2015, also its applicability has been validated by a case study. For tall C-shaped buildings, this study gives a comparative result on the effect of wind load on building, with & without shear wall on behalf of maximum story displacement and story drift. Concrete mix proportioning is one of the critical process and it involves a lot of precautionary measures to arrive at the right proportions of ingredients like cement, aggregate, water, and admixtures. Even though there are technical specifications that are managed mix proportionating, the procedure is not totally in the realm of science. Due to imprecise codal provisions, impreciseness, and fuzziness involved in the various stages of mix proportioning. This paper reviews the various data mining and machine learning techniques developed by the researchers for making concrete mix design for various codal provisions more realistic and scientific.

AbstractThe law of tort (or extra or non-contractual liability) has been criticised for being imprecise and lacking coherence. Legal systems have sought to systemise its rules in a number of ways. While civil law systems generally place tort law in a civil code, common law systems have favoured case-law development supported by limited statutory intervention consolidating existing legal rules. In both systems, case law plays a significant role in maintaining the flexibility and adaptability of the law. This article will examine, comparatively, different means of systemising the law of tort, contrasting civil law codification (taking the example of recent French proposals to update the tort provisions of the Code civil) with common law statutory consolidation and case-law intervention (using examples taken from English and Australian law). In examining the degree to which these formal means of systemisation are capable of improving the accessibility, intelligibility, clarity and predictability of the law of tort, it will also address the role played by informal sources, be they ambitious restatements of law or other means. It will be argued that given the nature of tort law, at best, any form of systemisation (be it formal or informal) can only seek to minimise any lack of precision and coherence. However, as this comparative study shows, further steps are needed, both in updating outdated codal provisions and rethinking the type of legal scholarship that might best assist the courts.


Numerical studies have been carried out to study the dynamic behaviour of a five-storey regular building, symmetric setback and asymmetric setback buildings having three bays along longitudinal direction and one bay along transverse direction. The objective of the study is to compare the irregularity indices with respect to different codal provisions such as IS:1893-2016, Euro Code 8-2004 and ASCE 7.05-2005 as well as with the expressions proposed by Karavasilis et al. (2008), and Pradip sarkar et al.(2010). These buildings are subjected to seismic excitations with time history analysis and the response parameters such as fundamental period of vibration of the structures, displacements and storey drifts were evaluated
