Purpose: This study was conducted to verify the effect of a simulation-based virtual reality psychiatric nursing education programMethods: This was a quasi-experimental study that used two groups and a pretest-posttest design. There were 35 nursing students in both the experimental and control groups. Data were collected between January 18 and February 28. The educational program was configured in four stages over four weeks. An afterprogram post-test was conducted for one week.Results: The experimental group showed significantly higher values for depression nursing knowledge (t=-3.96, p<.001), learning self-efficacy (t=-3.34, p=.001), and problem solving processes (t=-3.01, p=.004) than the control group.Conclusion: The educational program was found to be effective for nursing students' depression nursing knowledge, learning self-efficacy, and problem-solving processes. It is expected to be foundational material for developing various virtual reality-based simulation education programs.

This paper provides a discourse based upon the key development of nursing in response to the emerging 4Ds of health technology re-design. Building informatics capability among health professionals is a workforce issue necessitated through the increasing prevalence of information technology and digitization of healthcare affecting the entire health workforce, specifically front-line nurses. The key concepts will be explored of Digitization, Distribution, Disruption and Diversity, a framework recognising the tsunami of technology such as Big Data analytics, comprehensive decision support systems for nursing, nanobots, robotics, and pharmacogenomics and the impact these have upon the nursing workforce.

Firstly, we form the Pediatric Nursing-Knowledge Base for Hyperthermia, which combines publicly clinical practice guidelines and nursing routines of hyperthermia management. Then, following the nursing process framework, the system is developed by clinical decision support technology. Finally, a pre- and post-test is adopted to examine the effectiveness, usability and feasibility before and after using the system. Its effectiveness is examined by nursing records quality including completeness of nursing assessment, timeliness of nursing diagnosis, individualization of nursing interventions, and timeliness of nursing evaluation. Its usability and feasibility are assessed using the Clinical Nursing Information System Effectiveness Evaluation Scale. There is a significant difference between the two groups in effectiveness, usability and feasibility. Although the system is developed specifically for our hospital workflow and processes, the Pediatric Nursing-Knowledge Base for Hyperthermia and workflow for hyperthermia management in this study can be used as a reference to other hospitals.

Introduction: Telenursing during the COVID-19 pandemic with an emphasis on self-care is an effective approach to help patients, hospitals, as well as community. Despite the many challenges and benefits, tele-nursing can be used to help COVID 19 patients with new technologies. This study aimed to explore the challenges and opportunities of using tele-nursing in the COVID 19 Pandemic for helping patients with COVID 19 to gain better care.Material and Methods: An integrative review was conducted from December, 2019 to January, 2021. Databases of PubMed, MEDLINE, Web of Science, Scopus, CINHAL, and google scholar were searched on the concept of tele-nursing by using the following keywords, of COVID-19, Coronavirus, Telenursing, nurse roles, technology, Pandemics and Internet. DaA ta were analyzed according to Broome method.Results: The main results of tele-nursing in COVID 19 includes: implementation problems, insurance coverage, prevention of nurses, the problem of continuing care, and changing the roles of nurses’ infections, development of nursing knowledge, the emergence of technological care providing, emphasis on patient independence and transmission cycle control.Conclusion: Tele-nursing, this, despite the challenges, has many benefits that are effective in the current situation and effective, and reliable measure, through effective planning and implementation, help control COVID-19.

Aquichan Journal, as a scientific publication, guarantees the quality of its editorial processes to contribute to the visibility of nursing knowledge in the hope that it will be replicated to promote the discipline’s theoretical and research evolution.

Systematic reviews are essential to developing evidence-based nursing practice. The JBI, formerly known as the Joanna Briggs Institute, has contributed significantly to research through technical training on reviews. Cochrane Living Systematic Reviews and Systematic Reviews of Measurement Instruments have been approaches recently used by the scientific community. The purpose of Living Systematic Reviews is to continuously update priority issues, while Systematic Reviews of Measurement Instruments condense evidence on the validity of measurement instruments. This article overviews the JBI Systematic Review approaches and provides critical information about Cochrane Living Systematic Reviews and Systematic Reviews of Measurement Instruments. The use of these new approaches is necessary to maintain the evidence-based nursing practice and advance nursing knowledge.

Background: Inaccurate assessment of maternal blood pressure (BP) contributes to misdiagnosis of hypertension, unnecessary or missed interventions, and maternal morbidity. This study examines obstetric nursing knowledge and confidence in proper assessment of maternal BP before and after an institutional quality improvement project.Methods: We implemented an online educational initiative in our women’s health unit based on the American Heart Association’s Blood Pressure Improvement Program. Simultaneously, a standard assessment of BP cuff sizing by arm measurement was implemented. We conducted a pre- and post-intervention assessment of nursing knowledge and confidence of BP measurement. Responses were analyzed using the χ2 test, two-sample t test, ordinary least squares and logistic regression.Results: A total of 145 nurses completed the pre- and 68 completed the post-intervention assessments. Participants answered 62% of pre- and 73% of post-intervention questions correctly (p < .001). Before implementation, 86.9% of participants reported feeling very or extremely confident in obtaining an accurate BP measurement, increasing to 98.5% following (p = .007). 73.8% of pre-intervention respondents reported feeling very or extremely confident in choosing an appropriate BP cuff compared to 96.3% post (p < .001). Following implementation, confidence levels were similar irrespective of years in practice, years of experience at our hospital, and primary nursing unit.Conclusions: A BP educational initiative and standardized BP cuff assessment increased nurses’ knowledge and confidence in selecting the correct cuff size and obtaining accurate readings. Increased knowledge and confidence may lead to greater adherence to standardized BP assessment during peripartum admission, more accurate BP measurements, and improved management of hypertensive disorders in pregnancy.

Simulation helps to prepare prelicensure nursing students for practice by providing opportunities to perform clinical skills and make decisions in a safe environment. The integration of nursing knowledge, skills, and decision-making abilities during simulated unfolding case-study scenarios may enhance student self-confidence and foster clinical judgement skills. The purpose of this study was to assess the impact of simulation using unfolding case-study scenarios on undergraduate nursing students’ self-confidence in pediatric nursing knowledge, skills, and clinical judgment/decision-making abilities. This mixed methods study included a pre- and post-survey design to evaluate undergraduate nursing students’ confidence in pediatric nursing knowledge, skills, and decision-making abilities after participation in both an instructor-led (guided) and a student-led (decision-making) simulation involving unfolding case-study scenarios. Friedman’s ANOVA analyses revealed that all 16-items demonstrated statistically significant differences between the three measured responses (pre-simulation and both post-simulation surveys). Post-hoc Wilcoxon signed-rank tests revealed statistically significant differences in student ratings pre-simulation and post-instructor-led (guided) experience for all 16-scored items. The qualitative themes identified were perception of experience, pediatric nursing care, assimilation of knowledge, and critical thinking. Unfolding case-study simulation experiences positively impact the learning, self-confidence, and clinical judgement of undergraduate nursing students.

<p>This feminist study is an exploration of the subjectivity of women working as nurses within the gynaecological ward. Gynaecology has a long history as a unique area of concern to the health practitioners of any given period. However, recently with the development of modern gynaecology, this specialty has become based on male knowledge and male texts, women either as patients or nurses appear voiceless within this canon. Major texts within nursing mirror a medical construction of gynaecology, with the women involved in the discourse again absent from the literature. To explore the nurses' reality within the gynaecological ward I have undertaken a feminist interpretive study. Feminist research is gaining recognition within nursing and the contribution that such research can make to the development of nursing knowledge is acknowledged within the profession. However, it is within the work of nurse-scholars from Australia that feminist and postmodern ideas are most commonly debated. Their work provides an innovative approach to the exploration of nurses' work. To contribute to this debate I drew on certain specific notions from feminist and postmodern epistemologies to inform my work. These notions of the Other, difference, the body and discourse provided a unique way of viewing the practice of the nurses in this gynaecological setting. These epistemological concepts were then interwoven with feminist strategies to undertake my research. Through the process of feminist praxis, which included my working alongside the nurses and conducting in-depth interviews, three areas of general concern to the nurses emerged. Firstly the relationships, that is their relationships with each other as nurses and with their women patients. Secondly, the difficulties inherent in nurses' practice in this setting due to the nature of the experiences of the women they were nursing. These difficulties arose in relation to two particular situations, nursing women experiencing a mid-trimester termination and nursing women with cancer. Thirdly, the relationship with/in the medical discourse and individual doctors which, according to the nurses, had a major impact on their work. This study contributes to nursing knowledge by providing a forum for the voices of women as nurses, who nurse women in the gynaecological ward, to be heard. Using concepts from both feminist and postmodern theorising enabled the surfacing of the voices of nurses and interpretation of their experiences from a position of embodied reality. The diversity of the practice of nurses and the importance of recognising and working with this diversity became evident. Writing the text has been an important part of this research. Seeing writing as a political act in the way that many feminists do requires careful attention to the written word. Considering our fundamental nursing texts from a feminist perspective shows that many reflect a medical construction of gynaecological conditions and their treatment. Making explicit the voices of women as nurses is an important step in making women visible within the discourse of gynaecology. Nursing and feminism have much to offer each other and share an emancipatory goal of positive action to support and assist people in their lives.</p>
