In current investigation, the Ni-P-W/ZrO2 electroless nanocomposite coatings are deposited upon mild steel substrate (AISI 1040 grade). The W/ZrO2 nanoparticles (50 to 130 nm range) were incorporated separately into acidic electroless Ni-P matrix as a second phase materials. The as-plated EL Ni-P-W/ZrO2 depositions were also heated at 400 οC in Argon atmosphere for one hour duration and analyzed by SEM/EDAX and XRD physical methods. The Ni-P-W/ZrO2 as-plated coupons revealed nebulous type structures while heated coupons showed crystalline structures in both cases. Furthermore Ni-P-ZrO2 coatings have very less cracks and gaps as compared to Ni-P-W coatings. The corrosion tests result in peracid (0.30 ± 0.02 % active oxygen) solutions point up that corrosivity of peracid ( 500 ppm Cl) is more than peracid (0 ppm Cl) and corrosion resistance of tested coupons varies as Ni-P-ZrO2 (as-plated) > Ni-P-ZrO2 (heated) > Ni-P-W (as-plated) > Ni-P-W (heated) > MS. The utilization of Ni-P-ZrO2 nanocomposite coatings in peracid solutions can be considered a cost effective option on the basis of its better cost/strength ratio in addition to its fair corrosion resistance.

The Newcastle disease virus (NDV) negative-strand RNA genome containssix genes. These genes encode nucleoprotein (NP), phosphoprotein (P),matrix protein (M), fusion protein (F), hemagglutinin-neuraminidase (HN),and RNA-dependent RNA polymerase (L) proteins. The six proteins affectthe virulence of NDV in different ways, but available information on thesix proteins is disparate and scattered across many databases and sources.A comprehensive overview of the proteins determining NDV virulence islacking. This review summarizes the virulence of NDV as a complex traitdetermined by these six different proteins.

The prediction of knock-out tournaments represents an area of large public interest and active academic as well as industrial research. Here, we leverage the computational analogies between calculating the so-called phylogenetic likelihood score used in the area of molecular evolution and efficiently calculating, instead of approximating via simulations, the exact per-team winning probabilities, given a pairwise win probability matrix P. We implement and make available our method as open-source code and deploy it to calculate the winning probabilities for all teams participating at the knock-out phase of the UEFA EURO 2020 football tournament. We use three different P matrices to conduct predictions, two inferred via our own simple method and one computed by experts in the field. According to this expert P matrix which we trust most, we find that the most probable final is France versus England and that England has a slightly higher probability to win the title. The ability to efficiently and exactly compute winning probabilities, apart from improving and accelerating predictions, might allow for the development of novel methods to compute P.

We examine the set of formula-to-formula valid inferences of Classical Logic, where the premise and the conclusion share at least a propositional variable in common. We review the fact, already proved in the literature, that such a system is identical to the first-degree entailment fragment of R. Epstein's Relatedness Logic, and that it is a non-transitive logic of the sort investigated by S. Frankowski and others. Furthermore, we provide a semantics and a calculus for this logic. The semantics is defined in terms of a \(p\)-matrix built on top of a 5-valued extension of the 3-element weak Kleene algebra, whereas the calculus is defined in terms of a Gentzen-style sequent system where the left and right negation rules are subject to linguistic constraints.

AbstractIn the present study, the effect of concentration of titanium carbide (TiC) particles on the structural, mechanical, and electrochemical properties of Ni–P composite coatings was investigated. Various amounts of TiC particles (0, 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, and 2.0 g L−1) were co-electrodeposited in the Ni–P matrix under optimized conditions and then characterized by employing various techniques. The structural analysis of prepared coatings indicates uniform, compact, and nodular structured coatings without any noticeable defects. Vickers microhardness and nanoindentation results demonstrate the increase in the hardness with an increasing amount of TiC particles attaining its terminal value (593HV100) at the concentration of 1.5 g L−1. Further increase in the concentration of TiC particles results in a decrease in hardness, which can be ascribed to their accumulation in the Ni–P matrix. The electrochemical results indicate the improvement in corrosion protection efficiency of coatings with an increasing amount of TiC particles reaching to ~ 92% at 2.0 g L−1, which can be ascribed to a reduction in the active area of the Ni–P matrix by the presence of inactive ceramic particles. The favorable structural, mechanical, and corrosion protection characteristics of Ni–P–TiC composite coatings suggest their potential applications in many industrial applications.

<p>In this paper, we consider numerical methods for the linear complementarity problem (LCP). By introducing a positive diagonal parameter matrix, the LCP is transformed into an equivalent fixed-point equation and the equivalence is proved. Based on such equation, the general fixed-point (GFP) method with two cases are proposed and analyzed when the system matrix is a $ P $-matrix. In addition, we provide several concrete sufficient conditions for the proposed method when the system matrix is a symmetric positive definite matrix or an $ H_{+} $-matrix. Meanwhile, we discuss the optimal case for the proposed method. The numerical experiments show that the GFP method is effective and practical.</p>
