As the challenge of big data impacts how we understand cultural differences, a motive-integrated model of culture is becoming an effective strategy to search for convergence by the fourth industrial revolution called Industry 4.0. This study examines the integration approach of Industry 4.0 in merging motives and cultures to efficiently produce COVID-19 vaccines. Structure equation modelling has been conducted on the data in 38 countries during the period of 2006-2021. Findings indicate that Industry 4.0 has merged achievement motive in reactive culture, power motive in multi-linear active culture, and affiliation motive in linear active culture. The three pairs of motive-cultures have enabled people to successfully produce COVID-19 vaccines 10 times faster than previous approaches for vaccines. To implement Industry 4.0, the reactive countries and multilinear active countries would enhance the achievement and power motives, but the linear active countries would decrease the affiliation motive.

As the challenge of big data impacts how we understand cultural differences, a motive-integrated model of culture is becoming an effective strategy to study current culture divergence by the fourth industrial revolution called “Industry 4.0.” This study examines the impact of Industry 4.0 with COVID-19 vaccines on motives and cultures of the world and Asia in the post-COVID-19 era. Structure equation modelling has been conducted on the data in 38 countries during the period of 2006-2021. Findings indicate that Industry 4.0 has enhanced the achievement motive in the reactive culture and the power motive in the multi-linear culture, but it has decreased the affiliation motive in the linear active culture. In addition, Industry 4.0 has enhanced the gross domestic product per capita (GDP) in the linear active and reactive cultures, but it has decreased the GDP in the multi-linear cultures. Finally, Industry 4.0 has made the power and affiliation motives in Asia decrease, but it has increased the achievement motive in Asia.

PurposeThe current study aimed to investigate how perceived human capital sustainability leadership (HCSL) affects work outcomes (i.e. work engagement and job satisfaction), specifically through the mediating role of knowledge sharing behaviour in the hospitality industry. Building on social exchange theory and conservation of resources theory, the authors propose that knowledge sharing behaviour is an attempt to share and expand an individual's resources, which in return motivates employees during work. Furthermore, through the mediating effect of knowledge sharing behaviour, the authors attempt to provide empirical evidence for organisational actions and employees’ reciprocating actions, therefore, triggering positive contribution.Design/methodology/approachThe authors methodologically employed structure equation modelling for the analysis which includes reflective–formative higher-order construct (HOC) (i.e. HCSL). The authors tested the hypotheses with partial least square structure equation modelling (PLS-SEM) from a sample of 382 hotel employees who were selected through purposive sampling.FindingsThis study’s findings suggest that the employee engagement and job satisfaction regresses on HCSL and knowledge sharing behaviour. The study’s analysis also suggests that the relationships between the HCSL and work outcomes are mediated by knowledge sharing behaviour.Originality/valueThis study contributes to the sustainability leadership literature by looking into the integrated model of sustainable leadership from its four dimensions (i.e. sustainability leadership, ethical leadership, mindful leadership and servant leadership) and its consequences for work outcomes. Furthermore, the authors examined how knowledge sharing behaviour, being an underlining mechanism, affects these relationships, thus having implications for academia and practitioners.

Online learning systems owing to their nature are free of restrictions of time or place and can prove to be a useful platform for students where they can continue their studies when it is not possible for them to go to a university in person owing to different reasons. Such systems have also been used in Pakistan, particularly in private sector, for university and school education. This paper attempts to highlight various issues that the students are facing and the factors that have a significant effect on their online learning experience. We collected data through online questionnaires distributed to 1200 students enrolled in six private universities in Pakistan. This study employed the Structure Equation Modelling (SEM) to examine factors that influenced online learning. The results showed that teaching and professional behaviour, course instructional planning and methodology and online connectivity were significantly positively associated with online learning. With the identification of key factors that affects online learning of students, it will be more helpful to provide improved services for effective student leaning. Other crucial implications and a way forward are also discussed in the paper.

AbstractChanges to regulations for publications are one of the policies towards world-class universities. This study discusses the variables that are able to influence the commitment to change students, with the aim that students committed to changes. In more detail, this journal discusses the relationship of psychological contracts to a commitment to change with academic resilience as mediation. The research method in this study is a quantitative method. The questionnaire was distributed using random sampling techniques and answers from 100 participants obtained implemented using SEM (Structure Equation Modelling) with the Smart PLS 3. The conclusion is: (1) psychological contracts have a positive and significant effect on commitment to change, (2) psychological contracts that are positive and significant to academic resilience, (3) academic resilience positive and significant to commitment to change, (4) academic resilience mediates the relationship between psychological contracts and commitment to change. That means, to increase student commitment to changes in regulations, stakeholders in higher education, can make a stronger psychological contract and assist students in increasing their academic resilience. Keywords: Psychological Contract, Academic Resilience, Commitment to Change, High Education AbstrakPerubahan peraturan terkait publikasi merupakan salah satu kebijakan perguruan tinggi menuju world class university.
