Litsea glutinosa (Lour) Maida Lakdi is an evergreen tree belonging to family Lauraceae it is a native to India.1,2,3 Ethinomedically the bark is used by the traditional practitioners as a demulcent, emollient and in the treatment of diarrhea and dysentery. According to ancient Unani classical text books by our ancient scholars which was used for mostly bony diseaseslike Fracture (kasar), Joint pain(Hudaar), gout(Naqras), sciatica(lrqun nasa), anti inflammatory(Muhalil e Auram), spacity of nerves(Tashannunj e Asab), nervine tonic(Muqavi e Asab)etc. and now a days further activities were found by various scientific studies paving a way for multi functional activities like Anti oxidant , analgesic anti inflammatory, anti pyretic, anti microbial, anti bacterial, anti fungal anti helminthic, wound healing, hepatoprotective, nephro protective, anti infertility,anti hyperglycemic and anti hyperlipidemic.

Litsea glutinosa is popular in tropical and subtropical regions around the world such as India, Japan, Taiwan and many parts of China. Litsea glutinosa plant has many important medicinal properties and it is traditionally used for many gastrointestinal ailments and diseases like abdominal pain, indigestion, diarrhea as well as gastroenteritis and diabetes, edema, traumatic injuries colds, arthritis and asthma. Litsea plant is also known for its essential oil, which provides protective action against so many different types of bacteria. This plant has antioxidant and anti-parasitic properties and eliminates acute and genetic toxicity and cytotoxicity, thereby helping to prevent many cancers. This review captures the ethnographic properties, phytochemical components, uses, medicinal applications and health benefits of very important Indian indigenous plant “Litsia glutinosa” and emphasizes in-depth review to highlight the major and enormous potential found in this traditional medicine. Due to non-domestic and dioecious nature of plant immediate attention to the conservation strategies of the plant is required. It aims to provide insights into our Knowledge gaps that are very necessary for this type of medicinal important plants. It can be a very viable approach and in-depth research for the long-term benefits of society.

The present paper deals with the endophytic fungi of Litsea glutinosa, a medicinal plant highly valued in Ayurvedic system. A total of 21 fungal endophytes were extracted from different parts of the plant. The following eight species viz, Aspergillus oryzae, A. terreus, Curvularia sp, Fusarium oxysporum, Gliocladium solani, Penicillium citrinum, Trichoderma viride and Verticillium dahliae were selected for testing the production of secondary metabolites including hydrolytic enzymes. All the eight endophytic fungal species produced amylase, cellulase, protease and lipase. Except for Curvularia species, others did not elaborate laccase. All the test fungi produced antibacterial and antifungal metabolites; however, the crude extracts exhibited poor antimicrobial activity. The present endophytic fungi also produced IAA, ammonia and phosphate solubilizing substances. They were also capable to produce IAA with or without adding the tryptophan. An affect was also made to assess the influence of crude extracts on the root growth of maize seedlings. These studies revealed the enhancement effect of extracts on root growth. Based on these observations, discussions and conclusions were made.

ABSTRACT Southern Rajasthan is region in rich therapeutic herbal medicines and is cautious about women and neonatal health. It uses various herbs for postpartum therapeutic foods among which is a 32 Herbal Composition Formulation, which forms an important recipe. The present study states the principle 45 ingredients of Batisa and composition of this formulation in Ghee or emulsified and alcohol media. Fifteen ingredients, that is, Anethum graveolens, Areca catechu, Curculigo orchioides, Curcuma amada, Embelia ribes, Litsea glutinosa, Mesua ferrea, Myristica fragrans, Quercus infectoria, Rubia cordifolia, Sida cordifolia, Terminalia chebula, Tribulus terrestris, Trigonella foenum-graecum and Vitex negundo are common to both alcohol and Ghee based Batisa.

Natural regeneration is an essential tool to evaluate the overall health of a forest ecosystem. Natural regeneration of the tree species in Madhupur National Park showed 47 regenerating tree species among which Shorea robusta has maximum density (18,046 seedlings per ha) followed by Aporosa sp., whereas minimum density (19 seedling per ha) was recorded for Cassia nodosa, Litsea glutinosa, Grewia asiatica and Syzygium cumini, respectively. Relative density, relative frequency and relative abundance were estimated to assess the Importance Value Index (IVI) of the seedlings of different tree species. IVI of S. robusta was highest (66.25 out of 300) followed by Mallotus philippensis (27.33). G. asiatica, Derris robusta, and L. glutinosa showed the lowest IVI (0.93) among the regenerating tree species. Distribution of seedlings into different height classes showed that maximum number (31.4%) of seedlings in the height range of 50 - <100 cm. Among the recorded seedlings, Protium serratum showed maximum (11%) recruitment success. Alien invasive species, pineapple and banana based participatory agroforestry, frequent occurrence of fire, extensive collection of fuelwood and litter are the potential threats to the natural regeneration of Madhupur National Park.

In this research, we assessed the detergency properties along with chemical characteristic of the surfactant extracts from the most frequently cited detergent plants in Northern Thailand, namely, Sapindus rarak, Acacia concinna, and Litsea glutinosa. Moreover, as to provide the sustainable option for production of such valuable ingredients, plant tissue culture (PTC) as alternative method for industrial metabolite cultivation was also proposed herein. The results illustrated that detergent plant extracts showed moderate in foaming and detergency abilities compared with those of synthetic surfactant. The phytochemical analysis illustrated the positive detection of saponins in L. glutinosa plant extracts. The highest callus formation was found in L. glutinosa explant cultured with MS medium supplemented with 2.0 mg/L Indole-3-acetic acid (IAA). The callus extract was chemical elucidated using chromatography, which illustrated the presence of saponin similar to those from the crude leaf and Quillaja saponin extracts. Compact mass spectrometry confirmed that the surfactant was of the steroidal diagnostic type.
