Due to the pressing problems of today’s world, regarding both the finding of new, environmentally friendly materials which have the potential to replace classic ones, and the need to limit the accelerated spread of bacteria in hospitals, offices and other types of spaces, many researchers have chosen to develop their work in this field. Thus, biopolymeric materials have evolved so much that they are gradually becoming able to remove fossil-based plastics from major industries, which are harmful to the environment and implicitly to human health. The biopolymer employed in the present study, Arboblend V2 Nature with silver nanoparticle content (AgNP) meets both aspects mentioned above. The main purpose of the paper is to replace several parts and products in operation which exhibit antibacterial action, preventing the colonization and proliferation of bacteria (Streptococcus pyogenes and Staphylococcus aureus, by using the submerged cultivation method), but also the possibility of degradation in different environments. The biopolymer characterization followed the thermal behavior of the samples, their structure and morphology through specific analyses, such as TGA (thermogravimetric analysis), DSC (differential scanning calorimetry), SEM (scanning electron microscopy) and XRD (X-ray diffraction). The obtained results offer the possibility of use of said biocomposite material in the medical field because of its antibacterial characteristics that have proved to be positive, and, therefore, suitable for such applications. The thermal degradation and the structure of the material highlighted the possibility of employing it in good conditions at temperatures up to 200 °C. Two types of samples were used for thermal analysis: first, in the form of granules coated with silver nanoparticles, and second, test specimen cut from the sample obtained by injection molding from the coated granules with silver nanoparticles.

AbstractL-glutamate is an important component of protein. It can prevent gastrointestinal damage caused by NSAIDs. We constructed two-phase enteric-coated granules of aspirin and L-glutamate compound by extrusion spheronization method and fluidized bed coating. The subliminal effective dose of L-glutamate is 100 mg/kg tested by model of gastric ulcer of rats induced by aspirin and drug administration. HPLC-UV and UV–Vis methods were adopted to determine content and cumulative release of aspirin and L-glutamate as quality analysis method indexes. The prescription and process optimization were carried out with yield, sphericity and dissolution. The two-phase compound granules have good sphericity of 0.93 ± 0.05 (aspirin pellets) and 0.94 ± 0.02 (L-glutamate pellets), content of salicylic acid (0.24 ± 0.03)%, dissolution of aspirin (2.36 ± 0.11)%. Quality evaluation and preliminary stability meet the commercial requirements. The stored environment of compound preparation should be sealed in a cool and dark place.

Objective: This study aimed to compare total phenolic acid and protein contents as well as free radical scavenging, enzyme activities of fresh and fermented pineapple juice. Methods: The dried pineapple juice, prepared by freeze-drying and granulation method, with high bioactive compounds (total phenolic acid and protein contents) and biological activities (scavenging and enzyme activities) from fresh and fermented pineapple juice was developed and evaluated. The selected granules were evaluated for their stability at the 3 different temperatures for 3 mo. The pineapple juice granules were tested for the non-cytotoxic concentration by the SRB assay and Matrix metalloproteinase 2 (MMP-2) inhibition activity on human skin fibroblast. Results: The pineapple juice granules, the single-coated granules of pineapple juice showed a higher percentage of yield but lower biological contents and activities than that triple-coated granules. The triple-coated granules of pineapple juice exhibited the highest total protein content (1.53±0.10 mg Bovine serum albumin equivalent (BSAE)) with scavenging activity (51.15±5.94 %), and enzyme activity (4156.18±74.78 Casein digestion unit (CDU)/mg). For gelatinolytic activity on MMP-2, the freeze-dried powder and triple-coated granules of pineapple juice indicated the highest MMP-2 inhibition activity of 50.74% and 48.48%, respectively. Conclusion: The triple-coated granules of pineapple juice could be served as a disease prevention functional food due to its easy operation, high total phenolic acid, and protein contents with high potential MMP-2 inhibition activity.

In this study, we examined the physical properties, including disintegration, passage through a nasogastric administration tube, and acidoresistance, of one branded and five generic formulations of lansoprazole orally disintegrating (OD) tablets containing enteric-coated granules to examine the feasibility of a simple suspension method. The generic tablets immediately disintegrated in warm (55°C) and lukewarm water (35°C) and released the enteric-coated granules, which passed through an administration tube. Moreover, the released enteric-coated granules were stable under a simulated gastric acid environment. However, although the branded tablet disintegrated in warm water, the released enteric-coated granules formed aggregates that did not pass through the administration tube. Meanwhile, the granules released from the branded tablet in lukewarm water did not form aggregates. The present study demonstrated the applicability of a simple suspension method using warm or lukewarm water for generic lansoprazole OD tablets. Additionally, the method is applicable to branded lansoprazole OD tablets using lukewarm water.

The slow-release NPK double-coated granules obtained was evaluated in term of chemical interaction, surface morphology, and release rate of phosphate by Fourier Transform Infra Red spectrophotometer, Scanning Electron Microscope, and Visible spectrophotometer. Results showed that the FTIR spectrum of granules showed that no chemical interaction was observed between NPK granules and coating polymers during the coating process. The bioblend polymer used was effective as a coating materialfor the slow-release double-coated NPK. The SEM micrograph showed the clearly different part between core and coating polymers. The percentage of phosphate released after 48 hours through the slow-release double and one coated NPK granules were 21.89, and 39.13%, respectively. While through un-coated NPK granules was 93.60%. The release profile of phosphate through slow release double coatedNPK granules was following the Langenbucher kinetics (r = 0.9015).
