Examining Impacts of Acidic Bath Temperature on Nano-Synthesized Lead Selenide Thin Films for the Application of Solar Cells

The influence of bath temperature on nano-manufactured PbSe (lead selenide) films was successfully generated by utilizing CBD on the acid solution’s metal surface tool. Pb (NO3)2 was employed as a lead ion source as a precursor, while Na2O4Se was used as a selenide ion source. The XRD characterization revealed that the prepared samples are the property of crystalline structure (111), (101), (100), and (110) Miller indices. The scanning electron microscope indicated that the particles have a rock-like shape. There was a decrement of energy bandgap that is from 2.4 eV to 1.2 eV with increasing temperature 20°C–85°C. Thin films prepared at 85°C revealed the best polycrystal structure as well as homogeneously dispersed on the substrate at superior particle scales. The photoluminescence spectrophotometer witnessed that as the temperature of the solution bath increases from 20°C to 85°C, the average strength of PL emission of the film decreases. The maximum photoluminescence strength predominantly exists at high temperatures because of self-trapped exciton recombination, formed from O2 vacancy and particle size what we call defect centres, for the deposited thin films at 45°C and 85°C. Therefore, the finest solution temperature is 85°C.

Study on interaction between plasma and electromagnetic field in ion source of 10cm ECR ion thruster

Through diagnosing plasma density and calculating the intensity of microwave electric field, four 10cm electron cyclotron resonance (ECR) ion sources with different magnetic field structures are studied to reveal the inside interaction between plasma, magnetic field and microwave electric field. From the diagnosing result it can be found that the plasma density distribution is controlled by the plasma generation and electron loss volumes associated with magnetic field and microwave power level. Based on the cold plasma hypothesis and diagnosing result, the microwave electric field intensity distribution in the plasma is calculated. The result shows that the plasma will significantly change the distribution of microwave electric field intensity to form a bow shape. From the boundary region of the shape to the center, the electric field intensity varies from higher to lower and the diagnosed density inversely changes. If the bow and its inside lower electric field intensity region is close to the screen grid, the performance of ion beam extracting will be better. The study can provide useful information for the creating of 10cm ECR ion source and understanding its mechanism.

The emission properties, structure and stability of ionic liquid menisci undergoing electrically assisted ion evaporation

The properties and structure of electrically stressed ionic liquid menisci experiencing ion evaporation are simulated using an electrohydrodynamic model with field-enhanced thermionic emission in steady state for an axially symmetric geometry. Solutions are explored as a function of the external background field, meniscus dimension, hydraulic impedance and liquid temperature. Statically stable solutions for emitting menisci are found to be constrained to a set of conditions: a minimum hydraulic impedance, a maximum current output and a narrow range of background fields that maximizes at menisci sizes of 0.5–3 ${\rm \mu}{\rm m}$ in radius. Static stability is lost when the electric field adjacent to the electrode that holds the meniscus corresponds to an electric pressure that exceeds twice the surface tension stress of a sphere of the same size as the meniscus. Preliminary investigations suggest this limit to be universal, therefore, independent of most ionic liquid properties, reservoir pressure, hydraulic impedance or temperature and could explain the experimentally observed bifurcation of a steady ion source into two or more emission sites. Ohmic heating near the emission region increases the liquid temperature, which is found to be important to accurately describe stability boundaries. Temperature increase does not affect the current output when the hydraulic impedance is constant. This phenomenon is thought to be due to an improved interface charge relaxation enhanced by the higher electrical conductivity. Dissipated ohmic energy is mostly conducted to the electrode wall. The higher thermal diffusivity of the wall versus the liquid, allows the ion source to run in steady state without heating.

Green Synthesis of Silver Nanoparticles by the Cyanobacteria Synechocystis sp.: Characterization, Antimicrobial and Diabetic Wound-Healing Actions

Green nanotechnology is now accepted as an environmentally friendly and cost-effective advance with various biomedical applications. The cyanobacterium Synechocystis sp. is a unicellular spherical cyanobacterium with photo- and hetero-trophic capabilities. This study investigates the ability of this cyanobacterial species to produce silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) and the wound-healing properties of the produced nanoparticles in diabetic animals. Methods: UV–visible and FT-IR spectroscopy and and electron microscopy techniques investigated AgNPs’ producibility by Synechocystis sp. when supplemented with silver ion source. The produced AgNPs were evaluated for their antimicrobial, anti-oxidative, anti-inflammatory, and diabetic wound healing along with their angiogenesis potential. Results: The cyanobacterium biosynthesized spherical AgNPs with a diameter range of 10 to 35 nm. The produced AgNPs exhibited wound-healing properties verified with increased contraction percentage, tensile strength and hydroxyproline level in incision diabetic wounded animals. AgNPs treatment decreased epithelialization period, amplified the wound closure percentage, and elevated collagen, hydroxyproline and hexosamine contents, which improved angiogenesis factors’ contents (HIF-1α, TGF-β1 and VEGF) in excision wound models. AgNPs intensified catalase (CAT), superoxide dismutase (SOD), and glutathione peroxidase (GPx) activities, and glutathione (GSH) and nitric oxide content and reduced malondialdehyde (MDA) level. IL-1β, IL-6, TNF-α, and NF-κB (the inflammatory mediators) were decreased with AgNPs’ topical application. Conclusion: Biosynthesized AgNPs via Synechocystis sp. exhibited antimicrobial, anti-oxidative, anti-inflammatory, and angiogenesis promoting effects in diabetic wounded animals.
