The influence of bath temperature on nano-manufactured PbSe (lead selenide) films was successfully generated by utilizing CBD on the acid solution’s metal surface tool. Pb (NO3)2 was employed as a lead ion source as a precursor, while Na2O4Se was used as a selenide ion source. The XRD characterization revealed that the prepared samples are the property of crystalline structure (111), (101), (100), and (110) Miller indices. The scanning electron microscope indicated that the particles have a rock-like shape. There was a decrement of energy bandgap that is from 2.4 eV to 1.2 eV with increasing temperature 20°C–85°C. Thin films prepared at 85°C revealed the best polycrystal structure as well as homogeneously dispersed on the substrate at superior particle scales. The photoluminescence spectrophotometer witnessed that as the temperature of the solution bath increases from 20°C to 85°C, the average strength of PL emission of the film decreases. The maximum photoluminescence strength predominantly exists at high temperatures because of self-trapped exciton recombination, formed from O2 vacancy and particle size what we call defect centres, for the deposited thin films at 45°C and 85°C. Therefore, the finest solution temperature is 85°C.

AbstractA new method of preparation of aqueous electrolyte baths for electrochemical deposition of nickel targets for medical accelerators is presented. It starts with fast dissolution of metallic Ni powder in a HNO3-free solvent. Such obtained raw solution does not require additional treatment aimed to removal nitrates, such as the acid evaporation and Ni salt precipitation-dissolution. It is used directly for preparation of the nickel plating baths after dilution with water, setting up pH value and after possible addition of H3BO3. The pH of the baths ranges from alkaline to acidic. Deposition of 95% of ca. 50 mg of Ni dissolved in the bath takes ca. 3.5 h for the alkaline electrolyte while for the acidic solution it requires ca. 7 h. The Ni deposits obtained from the acidic bath are physically and chemically more stable and possess smoother and crack-free surfaces as compared to the coatings deposited from the alkaline bath. A method of estimation of concentration of H2O2 in the electrolytic bath is also proposed.

The corrosion inhibition of mild steel in 1 M HCl solution by some dihydropyridine has been studied using gravimetric, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, potentiodynamic polarization techniques and quantum chemical study. The results of weight loss and Tafel polarization measurements showed that among the studied compounds, Isradipine has good inhibiting properties for steel corrosion in acidic bath, with 98% inhibition efficiency at optimum concentration 400ppm. The inhibition is of a mixed anodic–cathodic nature. The adsorption behaviour of the investigated compounds is found to obey Langmuir adsorption isotherm. Quantum chemical parameters, were correlated with the experimental results.

Monocrystalline, epitaxial PbS thin films were deposited from acidic bath on GaAs substrates. The effect of deposition mechanism on the optical properties of the films was analyzed using the Urbach theory.

This paper presents the results of corrosion and tribological analysis of pure and nanocomposite zinc coatings. Coatings were electroplated using commercially available products—zinc acidic bath and a nanoparticle carrying plating additive. Electrochemical measurements were carried out to compare the anticorrosion performance of coatings. An investigation into the influence of nanoparticles on the mechanical properties was performed. The zinc nanocomposite coating exhibited better wear resistance and higher hardness than the plain zinc coating. The application of confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM) allowed the detailed description of friction/wear marks. The electrochemical studies revealed that the introduction of nanoparticles into the coating did not compromise its protective properties—a similar resistance of plain and nanocomposite coatings to corrosion was obtained.

The article deals with the effect of an acidic environment on the mechanical properties of a Glass Fibre Reinforced Polymer (GFRP) grid. GFRP composites are prone to the absorption of surrounding media which are either of a liquid or gaseous state, and this may result in the degradation of their mechanical properties. The effect of an acidic environment is examined on specimens cut from a GFRP grid. The specimens were stored in an acidic bath (pH scale 2 – 2.5) for a period of 0 (reference specimen), 1000, 2000 and 6000 hours. The temperature of the acidic bath was 60°C. The specimens were then tested using three‒point bending and the interlamination shear strength test. During the tests, the load and deformation of the specimens were monitored and flexural strength instead and modulus of elasticity were determined. The characteristics of the specimens exposed to the acidic environment were compared with those of the reference specimen. The experiment demonstrated the effect an acidic environment can have on the properties of GFRP material.

Most of the chemical industries are used with Polyurethane (PU) coated steel sample which is found that some chemical reaction and rusted in acidic bath solution becomes a problem in industry. For such problems composite materials can be of good solution which does not possess any reaction with working fluids (acids in our case). With composites there is complexity of manufacturing and high cost involvement, so as to avoid those simplified approach is used to get Flat plates made of Glass fiber reinforced in epoxy which is best solution for any acidic bath as it possesses high resistance to any reaction with itself. Glass fiber plates are cut into the size of dimension and with the help of adhesives joint the WFJ of I-Beam, there are two different types of adhesives used, araldite 2015 and Hundsman araldite are used. The hundsman araldite is found to get better performance of Web-Flange junction (WFJ) joint. Finite element analysis (FEA) is used to get initial validation and further it’s observed that Hundsman araldite failure strength on the web-flange junction is better. Also, additional cleat used with 4 mm, 12 mm for increasing the Web-Flange junction (WFJ) area to improve the Load carrying capacity of the Beam. The experimental analysis results clearly indicate that the emersion of the reinforced epoxy glass-fiber in the acidic bath solution for a certain period, there is no any reaction formed in the acidic bath and improved the behavior of the specimen. Results from FEA and experimental test have shown good correlations are obtained with improvement of failure strength on WFJ
