AbstractThis study validated Polish versions of the Coronavirus Stress Measure (CSM) and the COVID-19 Burnout Scale (COVID-19-BS) to measure stress and burnout associated with COVID-19. Participants were 431 Polish young adults (72.6% female; Meanage = 26.61 ± 12.63). Confirmatory factor analysis verified a one-factor solution for both the CSM and the COVID-19-BS. Both scales had high internal consistency reliability. Coronavirus stress and COVID-19 burnout were positively related to depression, anxiety, and stress and negatively related to resilience. The coronavirus stress and COVID-19 burnout were correlated with elevated levels of depression, anxiety, and stress over and beyond resilience, age, and gender. Findings suggest that the Polish versions of the CSM and the COVID-19-BS are valid scales to measure stress and burnout related to COVID-19. Findings also demonstrated that the coronavirus stress and COVID-19 burnout experienced during the later stages of the pandemic might be a permanent risk factor for mental health problems.

Aphantasia is a recently identified condition which is defined as the inability to create mental imagery. This study aimed to examine whether the level of mental imagery of respondents can be predicted based on the preference of the movie genre and to explore whether there are statistically significant differences between respondents who prefer different movie genres in terms of aphantasia. The sample consisted of 925 respondents (M= 187, F= 738). Age range in the sample was from 18 to 85 (M = 31.13; SD = 10.93). The aphantasia was operationalized through VVIQ (Vividness of Visual Imagery Questionnaire), the Instrument for Measuring Favorite Movie Genres, made for the purpose of this research was also used. Data processing was performed on the overall score of aphantasia, as well as on separate scales of open and closed eyes, and after that on a subsample of men and women, but the results were not statistically significant in any case. Both aphantasia scales of open (α = 0.874) and closed eyes (α = 0.936) show high internal consistency reliability. The results show that the phenomenon of aphantasia cannot be predicted based on the preferences of movie genres (F(6, 918) = 0.91, p = .489, R2 = .006), as well as that there are no statistically significant differences in aphantasia between respondents who prefer different film genres (F (5/919) = 0.16, p = .976). By the method of multiple linear regression of the opposite direction, we obtained that aphantasia can statistically significantly predict only the preferences of the Comedy genre (F(2, 922) = 4.67, p =.010; R2 = .010) with β = -.12; p = .003. Since different results are obtained in the reverse order, based on aphantasia we can predict preferences for movie genres to a certain extent, which could speak in favor of previously done researches that claimed aphantasia is congenital.

Background and PurposeMost patient safety studies focus on errors of commission rather than on errors of omission. No tools measure errors of omission in primary care. We developed the Errors of Care Omission Survey (ECOS) and present its cognitive and psychometric testing.MethodsTwenty-six primary care providers (PCPs) participated in cognitive interviews, which were audiotaped, transcribed, and analyzed. ECOS was also pilot tested with 37 PCPs. Item analysis and reliability testing w conducted.ResultsInterviewees agreed that ECOS measures errors of omission and items were clear. The response categories were revised. All items were correlated and subscales had high internal consistency reliability.ConclusionsECOS can measure errors of omission in primary care.

This study details the development of the “Classroom Touch Concern Scale” (CTC), which was designed to measure individual differences among teachers regarding their feelings of concern when touching students in the classroom. The CTC incorporates two correlated dimensions: CTC associated with touching students of the same gender and CTC associated with touching students of a different gender. Studies 1 through 7 used various samples of university faculty and high school teachers to investigate the CTC with regard to item development, dimensionality, construct validity, linguistic validity, predictive validity, discriminant validity, and convergent validity. The results showed that the CTC has high internal consistency reliability and an acceptable to good construct validity, a good discriminant and convergent validity, linguistic validity, and predictive validity. We discuss the practical implications and limitations of using the CTC.

This study aimed to translate into Brazilian Portuguese and evaluate the main psychometric properties from Spiritual Health and Life-Orientation Measure in a sample of 487 students aged 9–15 years in Southern Brazil. Spiritual Health and Life-Orientation Measure is divided into Ideals and Lived Experience sections and showed high internal consistency reliability (Cronbach’s α = 0.94). Comparison of mean values between age showed a tendency to decrease spirituality scores with increasing age. Discriminate validity of mean scores between groups of atheists, “spiritual, but not religious,” and religious was significant in all domains (0.026 <  p < 0.001). Spiritual Health and Life-Orientation Measure presents adequate psychometric properties and may contribute to study spirituality in children and adolescents.

We developed the Attachment Affective Picture System (AAPS) to facilitate research on attachment. To construct the AAPS, we selected 903 color photographs depicting positive and negative parent–child attachment, positive and negative romantic attachment, and neutral nonattachment. Participants (N = 78) rated the pictures' valence, arousal, and attachment on a 9-point scale (1 = low to 9 = high). All pictures were found to have high internal consistency reliability coefficients (Cronbach's alphas > .90; split-half reliability > .80). The scores on each dimension were consistent with the properties of the pictures and attachment themes were not significantly different in terms of dimensional properties. In conclusion, the AAPS is suitable for use in research conducted in the field of attachment theory, especially in relation to emotion.

AbstractAttitude toward Christian mission agencies was investigated in a sample of 827 Anglican clergy ordained in the UK from 2002 to 2006. The Scale of Attitude Toward Mission Agencies (SATMA) consisted of six items related to the work that agencies do, and whether clergy wished to engage with this work. It had a high internal consistency reliability (Cronbach's alpha = 0.80). After controlling for theological liberalism or conservatism, attitudes were most positive among evangelicals and least positive among Anglo-Catholics. Both liberal and conservative Anglo-Catholic clergy showed less positive attitudes toward mission agencies than did other clergy.

Abstract. We compared the psychometric properties of the American and Spanish versions of the Experiences in Close Relationship measure (ECR; Brennan, Clark, & Shaver, 1998 ; ECR-S, Alonso-Arbiol, Balluerka, & Shaver, 2007 ; Alonso-Arbiol, Shaver, & Yárnoz, 2002) , which assesses individual differences in attachment-related anxiety and avoidance. The American version of the questionnaire was administered to 1,265 Americans and the Spanish version to 747 Spaniards, all of them university students. The results indicate that the two linguistic versions are comparable, and that the Avoidance and Anxiety scales exhibit high internal consistency reliability in both languages, although the α values are slightly lower for the Spanish version. Avoidance was related to relationship status in both language groups, with about the same effect size. The factor structure of the measure was similar across both the American and Spanish samples.

This study examined the psychometric properties of the Reassurance-Seeking Scale in a sample of 102 Turkish undergraduate students. High internal consistency reliability was found for the Reassurance-Seeking Scale (alpha = .86). Factor analysis of the scale identified a single component that accounted for 71% of the total variance. The scale was significantly positively correlated with the Beck Depression Inventory and Beck Anxiety Inventory and had a significantly negative correlation with the Rosenberg Self-esteem Scale. Partial correlations of Reassurance-seeking with Depression scores as controlled by Anxiety scores and with Anxiety scores as controlled by Depression scores indicated that Reassurance-seeking scores maintained association with Depression but not with Anxiety. All these findings were in line with expectations.
