Objective: ADHD affects 11% of children in the United States and is associated with significant levels of anxiety. Although the literature supports mindfulness-based interventions as a promising strategy for managing anxiety, it falls short in the feasibility of digital mindfulness interventions. Method: This study investigated the usefulness of the pediatric version of Headspace, a digital mindfulness program, for reducing stress in 18 children with ADHD. We conducted a 4-week pilot study to evaluate the Headspace digital mindfulness application for children ages 6 to 12 with ADHD. Parents completed the Beck Anxiety Inventory and the Children’s Sleep Habits Questionnaire at baseline and endpoint. Results: Participants had an average age of 9.2 years and were 78% male. The Headspace intervention significantly reduced anxiety and sleep problems in children with ADHD. Conclusion: Children with ADHD and comorbid anxiety and/or sleep problems could benefit from a digitally based meditation application. (J. of Att. Dis. XXXX; XX(X) XX-XX)

The main aim of the research study was to explore the relationships between indecisiveness, academic procrastination and anxiety. The research sample consisted of 296 university students (mean age=21,06; SD=1,52), who completed the Slovak adaptations of the Indecisiveness Scale, the Lay's Procrastination Scale for Students and the Beck Anxiety Inventory. A significant moderate correlation was found between indecisiveness and anxiety, as well as a significant strong correlation between indecisiveness and academic procrastination. A significant but very weak relationship was found between academic procrastination and anxiety. Indecisiveness explained more variance in academic procrastination than anxiety. Indecisiveness was predicted by procrastination and anxiety to a similar degree. No gender differences were detected in the levels of indecisiveness or academic procrastination.

Abstract Background Anxiety and caregiver burden increase among caregivers for individuals with chronic disease. The purpose of this study was to compare the anxiety levels and caregiver burden among caregivers for cases with pediatric celiac disease (CD) before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. Materials The Zarit Burden Interview (ZBI) and the Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI) were applied to 29 parents caring for pediatric CD patients in January 2020, when COVID-19 cases had not yet been seen in Turkey. The study was designed prospectively. The scales were also reapplied to the same study group online during the COVID-19 pandemic (May 2020). The results were then compared. Results Parents caring for 29 cases of pediatric CD; 21 mothers (72.4%), six fathers (20.7%), and two aunts (6.9%) took part in the study. Mean ZBI scores before and during the COVID-19 pandemic were 27.51 ± 14.12 (8–73) and 38.68 ± 10.95 (21–57), respectively (p < 0.01). Mean BAI scores before and during the COVID-19 pandemic were 13.27 ± 7.65 (1–27) and 23.48 ± 12.40 (2–48), respectively (p < 0.01). Conclusion Increased anxiety and caregiver burden among caregivers of pediatric CD cases during the COVID-19 pandemic were identified for the first time in the literature in this study.

Abstract This paper aimed mainly to investigate the relationships between Brazilian Loneliness Scale (UCLA-BR) and the levels of depression, anxiety and stress in Brazilian college students. These concepts were assessed using validated scales (Patient Health Questionnaire - PHQ-9, Depression, Anxiety and Stress Scale - DASS-21, Beck Anxiety Inventory - BAI and Lipp Stress Symptom Inventory - ISSL). A total of 325 college students participated and responded all the instruments. Descriptive, correlational and group differences analyzes were conducted. The prevalence of depression, anxiety and stress varied depending on the instrument used. UCLA-BR presented evidence of validity based on relationships with depression, anxiety and stress, especially depression (assessed by DASS-21). Analysis of measurement scales can help to understand aspects of college students’ mental health.
