Acupuncture and moxibustion are widely used in clinical practice; however, the differences between their mechanisms are unclear. In the present study, the response of blood perfusion resulting from acupuncture or moxibustion at Ximen (PC4) and its surrounding points was explored. Using the wavelet method, the differences in the frequency interval of blood flux were observed. Furthermore, the correlations between these points were analyzed. The results suggested that moxibustion could significantly improve blood flow perfusion at PC4 compared to acupuncture; however, there was no significant difference around PC4. The response of blood flux at PC4 to different stimulations was related to the frequency V (0.4–1.6 Hz) component. However, a difference in response at other points was not observed. Correlation analysis showed that both acupuncture and moxibustion could cause a decline in the correlation of blood flux signals at these recorded points, but there was no significant difference between these techniques. The results suggested that, at least in the forearm, the acupuncture or moxibustion only influenced the level of blood perfusion locally.

Despite major advances in stroke management in the last 2 decades, stroke is still the leading cause of disability and death worldwide. Current ischemic stroke therapy aims to improve long-term outcomes in stroke patients. For this purpose, early recanalization is the only promising therapy for acute ischemic stroke. The main goal of reperfusion therapy in acute ischemic stroke is to immediately improve blood flow (recanalization) in areas of the brain that are ischemic and have not undergone infarction. The long-term goal is to increase outcomes by reducing disability and death from stroke. The most important factor in the success of reperfusion therapy in acute ischemic stroke is therapy as early as possible. However, selection of suitable candidates for reperfusion therapy requires neurologic evaluation and neuroimaging studies.

Clinical preliminaries utilizing neuromuscular electrical incitement to build bulk, muscle quality and improve blood flow to the encompassing tissue have demonstrated helpful. The job of electrical incitement is problematic up 'til now. Late proof demonstrates no distinction among rewarded and untreated muscles. STEMI with onset≤12 hours, necessary to take Primary Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (pPCI), but if there is no facility, another therapy is fibrinolytic, to improve blood flow in the coronary artery and myocardial function, thus reducing infarction expansion. This is a retrospective study in STEMI patients onset≤12 hours, had performed successful fibrinolytic with Streptokinase (SK) and Alteplase (tPA) from January 2015 to August 2017. TIMI flow was assessed by coronary angiography. There were 54 patients who had performed successful fibrinolytic therapy with SK and tPA; each group had 27 patients. In the SK group, there were nine patients (33.3%) with TIMI flow 2 and 18 patients (66.7%) with TIMI flow 3. While in the tPA group there were 11 patients (40.7%) with TIMI flow 2, 16 patients (59.3%) with TIMI flow 3, (p=0.573). There is no difference in TIMI flow between SK and tPA on STEMI patients after success fibrinolytic therapy.

Natural products like eugenol and curcumin have been reported to control hypertension. The purpose of our study was to examine the role of iNOS in eugenol/curcumin/nanocurcumin–induced vasorelaxation in the middle uterine artery (MUA) obtained from non-pregnant (NP) and pregnant (P) Capra hircus ( Ch). The MUA rings were mounted in an automatic organ bath attached to a powerlab data acquisition system. Vasorelaxation was induced by eugenol/curcumin/nanocurcumin in either the absence or presence of aminoguanidine in phenylephrine precontracted MUA rings. The vasorelaxation response was recorded isometrically by a highly sensitive isometric force transducer automatic organ bath connected to powerlab and analysed using Labchart 7.1.3 software. The maximal vasorelaxation (Rmax) obtained from eugenol, curcumin and nanocurcumin -induced concentration related contractile response elicited in PE- precontracted ED+ MUA rings was 49.5%, 42.6%, and 40.4% in NP, and 79.5%, 55.5%, and 44.1% in P Ch. Aminoguanidine attenuated the Rmax of eugenol, curcumin and nanocurcumin to 28.2%, 28.5%, and 16.4% in MUA of NP, and 57.2%, 57.4%, and 38.0% in MUA of P Ch, respectively. The results demonstrated that vasorelaxation to (i) Eugenol is partly mediated by partial activation of aminoguanidine-sensitive iNOS in the uterine artery and this pathway is augmented in pregnancy, (ii) Nanocurcumin is mediated by activation of aminoguanidine-sensitive iNOS in the uterine artery of NP, but not in P Ch and (iii) Curcumin is mediated by minimal activation of aminoguanidine sensitive iNOS only in the uterine artery of NP, but not in P Ch. In conclusion, eugenol and nanocurcumin possess a greater potential than curcumin in the control of hypertension due to partial activation of iNOS. These nutraceuticals could be useful to improve blood flow to the uterus to maintain oestrus cycle, maternal and fetal health.

Cerebral vasospasm and the delayed cerebral ischemia remain a source of substantial morbidity and mortality following aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH). Hemodynamic manipulation better known as ‘triple H’ therapy is routinely used in the management of patients with acute vasospasmfollowing SAH. The rationale of inducing hypertension, hypervolemia and hemodilution is to improve blood flow to the injured brain and to prevent secondary ischemia. While the Ca2+ antagonist Nimodipine is still the only drug with proven benefit on neurologic outcome following SAH, several alternatives are under research. Tirilazad is not effective, and studies of hemodynamic maneuvers, magnesium, statin medications, endothelin antagonists, steroid drugs, anticoagulant/antiplatelet agents, and intrathecal fibrinolytic drugs have yielded inconclusive and controversial results. Steroids drugs and anticoagulant/antiplatelet agents have been abandoned so far, because of the lack of efficacy. The purpose of the present paper is to provide a systematic review of the existing literature on the treatment of cerebral vasospasm.

Cellulite remains an obstinate clinical and cosmetic problem. In this study, we adapted the Thai traditional noninvasive treatment formulated with 5 additional herbals to improve blood flow, edema, and lipolysis, thereby augmenting cellulite treatment. This was a double-blind, randomized placebo-controlled paired trial. Twenty-one women (20-55 years) having cellulite (grade ≥2) were treated with steamed placebo or herbal compresses randomly assigned to one or other thigh twice weekly for 8 weeks with 2 weeks washout. Cellulite reduction was assessed from standardized photographs by 3 blinded evaluators at baseline and every 2 weeks; also assessed were thigh circumferences and cutaneous skin-fold thicknesses, trial diaries, and participant feedback. After 8 weeks, herbal compress treatment reduced Nürnberger-Müller cellulite scores from 12.6 ± 2.0 to 9.9 ± 2.4 compared with 12.5 ± 2.1 to 12.1 ± 2.0 (means ± SEM) for contralateral placebo-treated thighs ( P < .0001; effect size [ES] = 1.16, confidence interval [CI] = 0.48-1.83). Thigh circumferences diminished by 2.2 ± 0.9 cm (herbal) and 1.4 ± 0.7 cm (placebo) (ES = 0.96, CI = 0.30-1.61) and correspondingly skin-folds by 5.6 ± 2.2 and 2.4 ± 1.3 mm (ES = 1.72, CI = 0.99-2.45). No adverse actions were reported, and there were no dropouts, no missing data, and 100% adherence. Herbal compresses were efficacious against cellulite and thigh sizes. The herbal formula might be adapted to other delivery options, and rationally added herbals may increase effectiveness of traditional therapies and more sustainable actions.

Hemorrhoids is one of the most common diseases during pregnancy and in the postpartum period. It can be acute and chronic, and manifests itself in the form of thrombosis, inflammation or bleeding. The course of the disease can be either chronic or acute. Acute hemorrhoids is a complication of the chronic process and is further subdivided into forms according to the severity of inflammation and thrombosis. The classification reflects the pathogenesis of hemorrhoids; it is convenient and practical allowing for an unbiased approach in outlining indications and selecting the desired method of treatment depending on the stage of the disease and its severity. Conservative treatment of acute and chronic hemorrhoids is aimed at relief of symptoms of acute hemorrhoids, preventing complications as well as exacerbations of the chronic disease. Medications used in the treatment have anti-inflammatory, analgesic, hemostatic effects, improve blood flow and blood circulation in cavernous formations. The article tells about the drug of choice in the treatment of hemorrhoids in pregnant and postpartum women.
