Texts appear as the highest level units in language teaching. Textlinguistics researchers have put forward the thesis that the largest linguistic unit is the text, not the sentence. The main purpose of this research is to determine the effect of using textlinguistic analysis method and its ability to aid students in understanding the texts in language classes and improving and enriching their comprehension and expression skills. The research conducted an experiment and collected data with interviews. The sample of the research consisted of 30 students studying at the University and taking the text linguistics course. Concept Test of Textlinguistic Analysis Method was used in the study. As a result of the research, it was determined that the "Textlinguistic Analysis Method" increased the students' comprehension and expression success in Turkish classes compared to the traditional method and contributed to the increase of their participation in the class.   Keywords: Language teaching; linguistics; Turkish text; textlinguistic analysis; stylistics

Text linguistics is becoming a significant reference source for theorist as well as practitioners in information fusion, decision making and operations, given its research focus ranging from discourse analysis, text analysis and social media-inspired analysis. This article reviews and maps academic literature in the subject of text linguistics using a cutting-edge scientometrics approach. It recognizes major research outputs, themes, and authors in this way. It compares data harvests to discuss the field’s future trends. The work is the first systematic mapping of the subject of text linguistics, and it has important implications for using the scientometrics method to review academic publications.

The subject of study in the article is the discourse specifics of representation of economic entities in German newspaper and magazine texts of the last two decades. The purpose of the analysis is to elucidate the factors that stimulate univerbation in connection with the generation and textual integration of co-referential structures different in genesis, structural properties, semantic characteristics and stylistic potential. The study, conducted on the basis of a functional-communicative approach to language, relies on methods and results of studies on text linguistics considering text as a whole structural-semantic unit. Conclusions. 1) Mentioning of a company name is accompanied by integration of the univerb indicating the relevant industry into the text. Along with a two-member chain of co-referential nominations, a three-member chain is also possible (the location of a company is mentioned). 2) Co-referential pairs of the type “company name ‒ collective designation of employees according to headquarters location” (Siemens ‒ Münchener) are characteristic, which demonstrates the lability of univerb toponym semantics. 3) The integration of a proper name into the text requires the usage of characterizing common nouns in order to prepare the reader for the perception of unique names, which is a factor motivating univerbation. 4) Synthetic compounds of the nomina agentis type (Autobauer, Stromversorger) are widely used to describe the kind of activity of an enterprise. In such cases a lexeme with the expected semantics is eliminated (Unternehmen ‘company’, Konzern ‘concern’ etc.). The reduction of the base lexeme of a compound as well as representation of the verb lexeme in the form of nomen agentis has an impact on the semantics and stylistics of the univerb. The results of the study can be used both in research activities on problems of word-formation, semantics and in the training of business translators.

The topicality and novelty of this article, devoted to the device of stylistic contrast, are predetermined by its rather poor study, as well as by the approach to its investigation from the angle of translation theory and comparative linguistics. The material of the research includes the examples of stylistic contrast selected from literary texts in the Lezghin language and their translations into Russian, Russian-language literary texts and their translations into the Lezghin language. The work is based on the semantico-stylistic and comparative methods, the method of linguistic description of a literary text, elements of linguoculturological and conceptual analysis, as well as the specific methods of translation studies (comparison of the translation and the original, comparison of various translations, questionnaire of informants, educational translation, an experiment). The results of the research consist in clarifying the proceeding interpretation of stylistic contrast, as well as in identifying the difficulties that translators face when transmitting it in a literary text, and indicating the algorithm for overcoming them. They can be used in the courses of Stylistics, Text Linguistics, Translation Theory and Practice, etc., as well as in the development of the translation direction in the Dagestani linguistics, which needs practical developments and theoretical generalizations.

In this article I explore the construction of singing child characters in Isaac Watts’ Divine and Moral Songs for Children (1715) and Christopher Smart’s Hymns for the Amusement of Children (1771). The first part focusses on the nature of the lyrical persona within the lexical fields »voice and vocal sound« and »religion« and also looks at the possible addressees. The second part examines stylistic, phonetic, and formal elements, and explores their role in constructing the ›singing I.‹ To show the potential of Watts’ »Against Quarrelling and Fighting« to function as an invitation to playfully adopt behaviour opposed to Christian norms, the article examines a performance of Let Dogs Delight to Bark and Bite, a chorale by Matthew J. Zimnoch, whose text is taken from Watts’ hymn. Combining approaches from research on children’s poetry with ones from the interface of children’s literature and hymnody, the article also integrates a digitally supported close reading. The hymn texts were inputted into f4analyse, a software used in text linguistics and the social sciences, which allows for the assignment of categories, such as positive self-connotation of the ›singing I‹ or rhyme patterns. In conclusion, the article evaluates the potential of such a digitally supported research methodology for future research at the intersection of children’s literature and digital humanities.

Hegay rightly points out, although the term is widely used in text linguistics as well as in the fields of literature, sociology, political science, philosophy, logic, psychology, text linguistics itself has a unique, widely accepted interpretation, meaningless, used to express a variety of different concepts.

Since the beginning of the 1980s the categories of text linguistics have played an increasingly important role in both theoretical and applied translation studies. They have attracted more and more attention in the course of attempts to establish a translation-oriented text theory and text analysis for teaching purposes. In this context translation studies have been able to make a useful contribution to the linguistic debate on text cohesion and coherence and have in turn greatly benefited from that debate. At the same time, through contact with other disciplines, inclu¬ding the social sciences and cultural sciences, translation studies have helped to generate new aspects in text linguistics and to extend its hori¬zons. Today text linguistics and translation studies exist in a form of symbiosis that has attractive potential for the future.

The introduction primarily explains the meaning of the title “Linguistics and Translation Studies. Translation Studies and Linguistics” and furthermore focuses on the choice of the term “translation studies” which in the present context should be considered as any form of scientific approach to transla¬tion which is not based on a preconceived theory.The second paragraph outlines the difficult relationship between lin-guistics and translation studies. The convergence of both disciplines was particularly favoured by the fact that since the Seventies and Eighties, Linguistics have expanded their research to include text linguistics, prag-matics and cognitive studies. The three mentioned fields and the actual tech¬nological developments are the basis on which this publication was subdi¬vided into four parts.The third paragraph presents various contributions. The first part “textlinguistic approaches” starts with an overview of the relationship between (text) linguistics and translation studies (Holzer); two pair-related language contributions (Krein-Kühle, Sládková), a contribution on hermeneutics, translation and text linguistics (Stolze) and a contribution on translational text production from a pragmatic functional viewpoint (Feyrer). In part two “pragmatic approaches ”, the various aspects of prag-matism are represented: the sociocultural context of the translator (Goyens & Van Hoecke), rendering the implicit explicit by the translator (Zlateva), the cultural influences on juridical terminology (Brugnoli), the genre as a culture-specific category (García Izquierdo & Montalt i Resurrecció), the social relationship between sender and receiver (Nord) and the involvement of the reader in the translation discussion (Renkema & van Wijk). The contributions to the third part are divided into three main themes: 1. Cognitive structures which are the basis for complex relations between terms and the formation of metaphors (Thelen, Temmerman, Holm), 2. cognitive processes of information flow in understanding and translating (Sévigny) and the description of the note-taking technique of the interpreter as a language and discourse (Kohn & Albl-Mikasa), 3. empirical studies of the translation process on the basis of data collection with subsequent didactic goals (Rydning, Büyükkantarcio lu & Do an, Hansen, Breedveld & van den Bergh). The fourth part “technological approaches” consists on the one hand of contributions that examine technological procedures as an auxiliary means for the translator (Michiels, Feder, Schmitz) and on the other hand contributions that relate to corpus-based research as a bridge between linguistics and translation studies (Ramón-García, Nilsson, Olohan).
