The author examines temporal decoration of the female head gear, revealed in the burial sites and on the settlements of the Upper Volga region of the 13th – 15th centuries. Throughout the 13th century the cast "imitation" jewelry was used, imitating pre-Mongolian precious attire with colts and temporal rings with grain and filigree beads. The most common decorations were the temporal rings with smooth beads, preserved in the attire until the end of the 14th century, and simple temporal rings of small and medium-diameter with entering ends and bent ends. The cast lunar false-woven rings were also revealed. In the 13th century the new forms of jewelry appeared. These are the temporal rings with a shaped blade, modifications of which used during the 13th –1th centuries. Probably the temporal rings were used in a combination with a rigid headgear and earrings, which became a part of the costume in the 14th century.

The addition of surfactants to pesticide spray applications is an important method to improve the spray atomization and the coverage of droplets on the target. The effects of different types of surfactants on spraying have been extensively studied, but there have been few studies on the commonly used surfactant polyethylene glycol so far. This article compares the effect of polyethylene glycol 20,000 on the atomization and deposition characteristics by measuring the droplet size and the deposition on the polyethylene collection line when spraying different concentrations of polyethylene glycol 20,000 solution. The results show that the volume medium diameter DV0.5 of spraying different concentrations of polyethylene glycol 20,000 solution is larger than that of clear water, and that as the concentration increases, the volume medium diameter DV0.5 gradually increases but ΦVol < 150 μm decreases. Spraying different concentrations of polyethylene glycol 20,000 solution at a horizontal distance of 2–7 m from the nozzle and at a distance of 0.1–0.2 m from the bottom of the floor, the depositions are all less than that of clear water, and as the concentration increases, the deposition becomes smaller. This article can provide theoretical support for the use and concentration ratio of polyethylene glycol 20,000 in field application.

Introduction and purpose. Idiopathic macular hole (IMH) is an urgent medical and social problem of the population of developed countries. It is known that microinvasive 3-port vitrectomy with gas-air tamponade is a generally accepted method of surgical treatment of IMH. There is still no clear understanding of the reasons for incomplete functional success in this category of patients, despite the anatomical success. Thus, there is a need to develop and implement in clinical practice a modification of the ILM peeling technique for the treatment of small and medium-diameter of IMH, which would not be inferior in anatomical effectiveness to existing methods and would be accompanied by a less damaging effect on the structures of the retina. Material and methods. The study included 10 patients with a diagnosis of IMH, who underwent a 3-port microinvasive 25G vitrectomy with the preservation of foveal ILM. Results. The analysis of the clinical and functional results of surgical treatment of IMH with the foveal fragment left revealed the complete closure of the macular tear, the absence of gross defects of the ellipsoid zone, an increase in the values of the average visual acuity and microperimetry from the 1st month of dynamic observation. Conclusion. The proposed low-traumatic method of fovea - sparing ILM peeling provides stable anatomical and functional result, the restoration of both morphological and functional parameters, and minimizes the mechanical impact on the retina in the fovea. Key words: macular rupture, internal limiting membrane, fovea-sparing ILM peeling.

The force transfer of fully grouted rock bolts is playing a significant effect in determining the rock reinforcement quality. To evaluate the performance of rock bolts, laboratory pulling tests were commonly used. Experimental tests proved that the confining medium diameter had an effect on the rock bolting performance. However, little analytical work has been performed to investigate the impact of the confining medium diameter on rock bolt load-carrying capacity. Therefore, this paper analytically studied the confining medium diameter effect on the load-carrying capacity of rock bolts. It was found that the load-carrying capacity of rock bolts was obviously affected by the confining medium diameter. Moreover, the larger the confining medium diameter, the higher the load-carrying capacity of rock bolts. However, the ascending rate of the load-carrying capacity gradually declined. This load-carrying capacity variation trend consistently agreed with experimental results. Moreover, with the confining medium diameter ascending, the load-carrying capacity variation trend was consistent when the confining medium modulus was under different levels. Last, it was found that, with the confining medium modulus ascending, the critical influence diameter gradually dropped.

Spray drift, as a practical issue during Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) spraying, has a negative impact on the environment, and the use of air-induction nozzles or anti-drift adjuvants are the most common recommendations for reducing drift. To screen the adjuvants for favourable atomization performance and anti-drift effect, we evaluated the spray atomization performance of different adjuvants by the droplet size measurement system. From the wind tunnel results, we commented on the relationship among the atomization performance, drift distance and drift deposition, and determined the drift percentage of different nozzles and the surface tension of liquids with different adjuvants. The results showed that the addition of adjuvants would modify the distribution span S, ΦVol<150μm and the volume medium diameter D50; ΦVol<150μm and D50 of the Maifei treatment decreased and increased the most of all the treatments. There were negative correlations between the drift distance, D50 and percentage of drift amount. The adjuvants Maifei and the nozzle IDK120-015 significantly decreased the drift deposition amount. And the anti-drift effect of nozzle IDK120-015 plus Maifei was significantly stronger than that of other nozzles or adjuvants. In addition, the addition of adjuvants could significantly decrease the surface tension, especially for Maifei. These results suggest that the addition of Maifei is an effective way to reduce the spray drift for all nozzle types and lessen the surface tension. These data help to provide a theoretical basis for selecting suitable nozzles and adjuvants for plant protection UAVs.

One of the effective methods for studying any process is its physical modeling, during which it is possible to verify the concepts and hypothesis obtained previously by theoretical modeling. In the laboratory of metal forming of NUST “MISIS” there is ERW mill 30 – 50 for the production and simulation of processes for the continuous forming of longitudinal welded pipes of small and medium diameter, their welding and calibration. This article discusses the deformation zone of a pipe billet, using the first two stands of a molding mill as an example with a calibration of a roll tool for a pipe diam. 50×1.5 mm. Based on the analysis of methods for calculating the parameters of real roll calibers, a model of contact interaction of the pipe billet with the first and second roll open stands was developed and areas of the deformation zone were determined including their sizes: non-intensive and intense impact; input and output contact zones; springing up. Analyzing the conditions of contact interaction of the pipe billet with roll calibers, parameters of the pipe billet in contact with the first-caliber rolls were determined in seven sections, taking into account the features of continuous forming. An analysis of the results has shown that the maximum longitudinal deformation occurred at the edge of the billet in section B – B and was equal to 1.04 %, and for the pipe billet bottom it was 0.92 %. For the experiment, a grid was applied to the pipe billet using a laser engraver. During forming, the trajectory deviation of the pipe billet bottom from horizontal axis was recorded, and sizes of the forming sections were determined. Comparison of theoretical and experimental values has shown that the discrepancy between them does not exceed 7 %.

Introduction: Complications of COVID-19 infection have been greatly investigated. The most recent studies found strong association of COVID-19 pneumonia with thromboembolism. The aim of research was to describe clinical and computed tomography pulmonary angiograms (CTPA) characteristics of COVID-19 related pulmonary artery thromboembolism (PE). Methods: All consecutive CTPA with positive PE in COVID-19 patients from University Hospital Split, from March 23, 2020 to January 31, 2021 were analyzed. Baseline data were collected from patient’s electronic records. CTPA scan analysis identified PE anatomical location (i.e., main, lobar, segmental, or subsegmental). Results: A total number of 78 positive CTPA in COVID-19 patients was mainly in elderly with several co-morbidities, high D-dimer levels, at median of 14 days. CTPAs showed involvement of the entire pulmonary artery tree, mainly of the small-to medium diameter pulmonary artery branches, unilaterally ( n = 31, 39,74%), and bilaterally ( n = 33, 42.31%). The large-diameter branches were the most rarely affected as a single location ( n = 14, 17.95%). Conclusion: PE occurred in predominantly elderly people, having several comorbidities, and high D-dimer levels. Embolic involvement of pulmonary branches of all sizes were found, the most frequent of small to medium diameter branches. Further investigation is needed to better understand mechanisms and course of the COVID-19 related PE.
