This editorial highlights the scope of the topic that need to be examined further in the field of children’s vision screening. We hope that by making vision screening a special topic in SJOVS we can encourage collaboration between groups of researchers, clinicians and students and help in the development of evidence-based solutions to the current problems facing vision screening across the world. Of course, identifying eye and vision problems represents only the first stage in a screening process. It is important to mention that any screening programme requires several follow up steps to be successful. Good access to further examination for screening is required and affordable spectacles need to be provided. A mechanism of follow up is also important as, once dispensed, the spectacles need to be worn appropriately. Failure to address any of these issues will limit the benefits of a screening programme and innovative methods of addressing these issues are encouraged.

Fracture of the posteromedial talar process (Cedell fracture) is a rare injury and is easily misdiagnosed as a simple ankle sprain. Suspicion should be heightened if specific mechanisms of injury are present, and, in these cases, a CT scan should be performed. Significant ankle pain and disability can result if these injuries are not identified and treated properly. Few cases have been described in the literature, and the efficacy of surgical techniques and approaches for fractures of the posterior talar process remains controversial. We report a 56-year-old man with an acute posteromedial talar fracture treated arthroscopically. This approach provides good access to the posterior ankle compartment, subtalar joint, and extraarticular structures, which may allow fracture reduction and fixation under arthroscopic visualization. During crises, discussions about the sources of employment intensify, including that of entrepreneurship. The growth of employment in the entrepreneurial sector is one of the national goals, which should be achieved up until 2030. However, the selection and verification of support measures requires the determination of the underlying growth factors. The paper proposes an econometric model, where the dependent variable is the growth of employment in the SME sector in the Russian regions over the previous decade. According to the results of the estimations, the creation of new companies is significant: one new enterprise creates on average 10 new jobs in small and medium-sized businesses, while a technological startup creates 60 new jobs next year. Employment growth in the last decade is higher in regions with growing incomes of the population, with good access to banking capital and large markets, and with low criminal risks. Increasing Internet accessibility contributes to the growth of the business sector; whereas nationalization of the economy is an obstacle. Employment is growing in SMEs in agricultural regions and decreasing in the centers of production. The efforts of the authorities should aim at lowering the barriers to market entry for the new companies, increasing access to capital, markets and the Internet, and stimulating the digitalization of the economy.

The Alwadzikhoebillah Palace area is a cultural heritage related to the history of ancient Sambas. The landscape of the palace building is in the form of a stage and is located close to the river. Rivers are the main infrastructure in carrying out social and government activities. In addition to government interests, the existence of the Alwadzikhoebillah Palace area near the river is also based on the philosophy of the Malay community who believes that a good building location is a place close to a spring. This study uses quantitative and descriptive methods to analyze the relationship between existing data by looking at the potential and constraints that affect tourism activities. The quantitative method was carried out using a simple scoring technique based on the criteria of MacKinnon et al. (1986) with several modifications adapted to the conditions and research needs to assess the potential as a tourist attraction which consists of several components. This evaluation indicates that the Alwatzikhoebillah Palace area actually has two tourist objects and attractions (67%) in the very potential category (S1) and one tourist object and attraction (33%) in the quite potential category (S2). Objects and tourist attractions in the Alwadzikhoebillah Palace area have good access values. All of these accesses are in good condition, namely in the form of flat asphalt roads with no holes and can be passed by two and four-wheeled vehicles. It's just that in the dining area the ease of access is worth less due to the limited parking area for visitors.

Abstract This study was aimed to evaluate how personal perceptions of exercise facility accessibility affect moderate physical activity in Korea. We selected research subjects using data from 2012, 2014, and 2016 community health surveys. We explored whether accessibility to exercise facilities was associated with moderate or higher physical activity. Multivariate logistic regression analysis was performed. Of the 652,954 individuals included in the analyses, 146,725 engaged in moderate physical activity (22.5%) and were more likely to have easier access to exercise facilities. Those who could access exercise facilities very easily were more likely to engage in moderate weekly physical activity compared with those who found access difficult or very difficult (odds ratio = 1.32; 95% confidence interval = 1.28–1.35). The results confirmed that in areas with good accessibility to community exercise facilities, subjects engaged in more moderate physical activity compared with subjects in areas lacking good access.

© 2017, © The Author(s) 2017. On the whole, women in New Zealand have good access to safe and affordable means to terminate unwanted pregnancies. Although seemingly ideal, the current situation is a fragile one. Under current legislation, abortion is criminalised and legal access to it relies on gaining the approval of two certifying consultant physicians. In this report, we provide an historical overview of the social and political influences shaping New Zealand’s current approach to abortion, considering the consequences of having abortion governed by criminal law. The situation in New Zealand is used to support a proposal that a pragmatic liberal feminist approach to abortion is best for women where it is a medical matter rather than a legal or moral one.

AbstractThe determinants of residential, office and commercial rent are each analyzed by taking the 10 min walking distance area around Shibuya Station in Tokyo as the research target area. Conventional physical and quantitative factors such as distance from the nearest station, the width of the frontal road, age of the building, the number of floors, total floor area, contracted floor area, building structure etc. are included in the multiple-regression analysis as well as qualitative factors such as the visible area representing visibility on a main street and the integration value representing street network centrality—easy accessibility from other locations such as any intersection points—based on the space syntax measures (SS measures) used in the analysis by Jake Desyllas from University College of London. It is shown that both SS measures affect the rent for all the residential, office and commercial uses with the statistically significant level of 5%. It is quantitatively confirmed that the residential rent increases in a secluded location, and the office and commercial rent rise in a location with high street network centrality and good access, which would suggest that the SS measures are crucial important rent factors for residential, offices, and commercial uses in other places in Japan.
