Abstract Introduction A chalazion is a common non-effective granuloma of the meibomian glands of eyelids. They are commonly found on the tarsal conjunctival surface and the eyelid margins. It may be ignored by the patients until it reaches a considerable size. Recently the use of intralesional corticosteroids has shown promising results. We in the present study tried to evaluate the outcomes of intralesional triamcinolone acetonide injection in the management of Chalazion. Methods The current study was carried on Patients with chalazion attending Ophthalmology OPD of Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences, [RIMS], Adilabad. Successive patients with small multiple marginal chalazia were included. Patients were selected based on the amenability of treatment with intralesional triamcinolone acetonide injections. A chalazion is a common non-infective granuloma of the meibomian glands of eyelids. Results Group I with very small-sized chalazia< 5 mm out of n=22 included in Group I resolution after one week following treatment was found in 72.72%. Resolution following repeated injection after one week was found in 18.18%. In group II (chalazia size 5-7 mm) out of n=28 cases, 46.24% resolved after first injection and 39.28% cases resolved after the second injection and no resolution was found in 14.28% cases after one month. Conclusion Patients with small chalazia who are not amenable to incision and curettage intralesional triamcinolone acetonide injection appear to be a better option. Intralesional triamcinolone acetonide injections were found to be effective in resolving acute and sub-acute chalazia of soft to firm consistency irrespective of their duration.

Peripheral cemento-ossifying fibroma is a gingival overgrowth that occurs most commonly on the gingiva. It is a slow-growing reactive lesion. It is a benign tumor that grows to a considerable size and leads to pathologic migration of the teeth at later stages. It most commonly occurs following a gingival irritation or trauma. These lesions are said to arise from the PDL fibers excision of these lesions along with the periosteum is very important to avoid recurrence. The recurrence rate of peripheral cemento-ossifying fibroma has been reported to be 8–20%, so a close postoperative follow-up is required. Here, we are presenting two case of peripheral cemento-ossifying fibroma in the mandible.

Leiomyosarcoma is a malignant smooth muscle neoplasm, which is traditionally divided into superficial and deep tumors. Superficial leiomyosarcomas are quite rare entities, accounting for approximately 7% of soft tissue neoplasms and 0.04% of all cancers. Here we describe a rare case of advanced primary cutaneous leiomyosarcoma (PCL) in a 93-year-old woman, highlighting the considerable size of the lesion and the correct surgical and oncological management. The clinical story began about 4 years ago, and the neoplasia was treated only with local radiotherapy, but the patient suffered from a dramatic volumetric increase of the right arm sarcoma one year ago. Then, an amputation of the limb was performed without following adjuvant chemotherapy. Currently, she does not show signs of recurrence and is in good shape.

AbstractIn flowering plants, true vivipary is defined as the precocious seed germination and the growth of the embryo to a considerable size before dispersal. True vivipary occurs mostly in mangroves and is very rare in Asteraceae. In this study, we present the first observation of true vivipary in Grindelia squarrosa, a North American member of Asteraceae, from a new locality in Poland. We examined 50 fruiting capitula which were collected in October 2020 in Brzegi, southern Poland. True vivipary occurred in 90% of capitula; however, the number of germinated seeds was low (3.42 on average) and very variable (CV = 106%). Seed germination was found only in fruits developed from disc flowers. We presumed that precocious seed germination in G. squarrosa was induced by prolonged rainfall. The importance of true vivipary in naturalization and invasion of G. squarrosa as well as the involvement of viviparous seedlings in autochory should be further explored.

A 14-year-old boy presented to our Emergency Department complaining of fever, and abdominal pain. An abdominal computed tomography showed a large abscess of the spleen. Percutaneous aspiration of the lesion was performed. Splenectomy was performed 38 days after percutaneous aspiration because of the abscess’s considerable size.

The article is devoted to the study of the largest lake of the island of Kunashir – the lake Peschanoe (means Sandy) – and the adjacent sections of the coast of the Sea of Okhotsk. Despite its considerable size and relatively easy transport accessibility, the lake still remains relatively poorly explored. The topography of its bottom was studied, in particular, the maximum depth of the lake (23 m) was measured; hydrological and hydrobiological surveys of the lake were conducted; the influence of the wind on the intensity of mixing of the lake’s waters was assessed; lagoon origin of the lake was proven; the coastline of the Sea of Okhotsk in the vicinity of the lake was examined. It was revealed that the lake lost connection with the sea long enough so that there are no signs of salt in its water, but not so long enough that it stopped being inhabited by mesohalobiotic crustaceans. The influence of typhoons on the mixing of the lake’s waters is very great that is surprising for such a large lake. This is facilitated by its geographical position on the Sernovodsky isthmus, due to which it is open to both winds blowing from east and west.

The literature of the named diseases, mainly casuistry, has grown to a considerable size, but the indications for their surgical treatment have not been developed at all; new reports of such cases, especially with a fatal outcome, which do not get into the press very much, will serve to clarify the benefits of an artificial legal interruption of pregnancy in them.

Rough Cilicia is well-known for the number of wine-presses found,1 which shows that viticulture was important locally as well as wine being a likely candidate for export.2 Excavation and survey here has generally lagged behind other regions,3 and work at Antiochia ad Cragum (Güney Köyü, Gazipaşa) in particular is relatively recent, starting with the Rough Cilicia Archaeological Survey Project (RCSP) and continuing with its offshoot, the Antiochia ad Cragum Archaeological Research Project (ACARP).4 The city, founded by Antiochus IV of Commagene in the Julio-Claudian period, lies on an important road along the S coast with direct links to settlements of the central Anatolian plateau;5 it also lies on the maritime trade route extending from Syria and Palestine to Constantinople and the area of the Black Sea, with another going to central and W Mediterranean lands.6 Occupied continuously from the Imperial to the Byzantine period,7 it achieved a considerable size.

The ling Molva molva is a widespread gadid in the Northeast Atlantic and one example of a poorly studied species of particular interest, being its distribution affected by climate warming. The ling supposedly occurs in the cold waters of the Northwestern Mediterranean Sea, where it used to be commonly fished, but to our best knowledge, records of M. molva after the 1990s are not availa-ble from the scientific literature. Here we report the recent capture of two individuals, one of them of considerable size, at 35 nautical miles off the coast of Castelló (Spain, NW Mediterranean).

Titus Lucretius Carus was a Roman Epicurean philosopher and poet. About his life and personality little can be said with certainty, yet his only known work, ‘On the Nature of Things’ (De rerum natura), is of considerable size and one of the most brilliant achievements of Latin poetry. A didactic poem in six books, it expounds Epicurean physics. Its manifesto is to abolish the fear of gods and of death by demonstrating that the soul is mortal and the world not governed by gods but by mechanical laws.
