The paper tackles the impact of the stage performance upon the public, the algorithm through which the theatrical event entered in the captivity of mass manipulation and the development of the dramatic concepts, aiming to decode the implied power relationship between scene and audience, thanks to the evolution of philosophical thinking from genuine scepticism to modern rationalism, from judgment of taste to critical judgment and social activism. Further, in the psychological key, the consequences of the dual division of the show space, the sociological markers in theatre architecture and the pattern of the Wagnerian scenic space were studied, allowing insights into the history of mentalities and into the pattern of art reception.

The paper herein highlights those aspects of Chopin’s Piano Sonata Op.58 that demonstrate the strong connection with the classical-type sonata, its significance and the evolution of expression. Chopin’s Third Piano Sonata, Op.58 is the largest solo work of his late period. Chopin’s successful combination of the Classical and the Romantic aesthetic, results in an effective balancing of structural integrity and emotional fulfilment. Every moment of Op.58 possesses qualities of movements in a traditional sonata cycle; however, the tendency to blend structural elements, the expansion of thematic material and the postponement of climaxes contribute to Chopin’s distinctive treatment of the sonata genre style include blurring of genres, complex use of chromaticism, intricacy of counterpoint, textural and thematic variety

Singing is the way of expression through which feelings, experiences, an ideational content are poetically expressed; in its absence the vocal qualities cannot justify the purpose of the interpretation. The topicality of music education for young performers is determined by an appropriate approach to the process of knowing the essential structure of singing, by understanding and mastering the multiple styles and ways of interpreting each genre, all in conjunction with an integration of historical views on the art of singing. Finding directions of orientation and thinking in the field of vocal interpretation, corroborated with the identification of some intrinsic values of it will contribute to achieving a stable foundation on which the lyrical artist can build a career in interpretation.

This material is an extract from a larger research of Lutheran chorals, focusing on the first collection of Protestant hymns, published after the Reformation, Etlich Cristlich lider (Achtliederbuch - The Book of Eight Songs), signed by Martin Luther, Paul Speratus and Justus Jonas. Beyond the general considerations related to the place and year of publication, but also to the inner construction of the collection, the analysis focuses on the first hymn composed by Luther, original both as text and as music. The rhetorical perspective I approached in the study of chorals is not arbitrary, given the impact of Luther's vision of music for that period and the attention he himself paid to classical rhetoric in his sermons, or in the courses he taught at the University of Wittenberg. His chorals are impregnated with explicit messages, both in terms of his Christian creed, but also in terms of elementary principles of Christian living.

Of Philip Glass's twelve symphonies - perhaps the most popular minimalist composer after John Cage – it is the choral Fifth, entitled "Requiem, Bardo, Nirmanakaya", composed in the years of full maturity (the first performance took place in 1994), that mostly impresses through its grand design, display of instruments and human voices, soloists and four choral ensembles may be considered a version of the theocratic scenario that projects the history of mankind in the order of the divine, characteristic of the premodern age. Glass's originality consists in the overlapping of several mythical structures - Swedish, biblical, Buddhist, Islamic, Sufi, etc. - in accordance with the holistic epistemology of the contemporary era. Despite the Buddhist references in the title, the narrative is modelled on the biblical archetype, from the genesis of the universe to the Last Judgment and it ends with the vision of a future humanity bonded in brotherhood, peace and compassion

The paper aims to compare musical language with verbal language, creating a new perspective on music and natural language. The three categories of linguistics, phonology, syntax and semantics are analyzed. Bernstein highlights the analogies between the linguistic categories and music, researching the same three components of linguistics in music. The possibility of applying the transformational grammar procedures to the musical text is studied. In the second part of the paper, the authors investigate the method of analysis based on harmony and counterpoint, differentiating several structural levels conceived by the theoretical musician H. Schenker. Schenkerian analyzes are a relatively recent appearance in the field of musical analysis, which proposes as an innovation in the field of musical analysis the structural vision of musical discourse.

The present paper strives to evoke the context in which one of Jules Massenet’s last operas, “Cléopâtre” was created: the Belle Époque period with its various stylistic orientations. Among the numerous art movements of the fin de siècle, Art Nouveau establishes itself as one of the most important styles, gradually becoming an international style often associated with the Belle Époque. Characterized by curving forms and undulating lines, Art Nouveau was used in architecture, fine and applied arts. One of the aims of this style was to dissolve the distinction between the various forms of art. Art Nouveau representations gave birth to a particular feminine type, also represented in Massenetțs “Cléopâtre”, an opera inspired by the vocal and dramatic endowments of French singer Lucy Arbell. The analysis focuses on the vocal characterization of Cléopâtre as sonorous representation of the fin de siècle woman, highlighting some of the musical innovations employed by Massenet in this final work.

With a well-developed dramaturgy, "Silvia" surprises by the way in which the meticulous musical characterizations of the characters were made, offering the protagonists distinct personalities. The most popular moments that place the opera in the first line of success of Emmerich Kálmán's works, reflect very engaging rhythms. The directorial conception pleads precisely for this “essence” of operetta, of the genre show, alert, frothy, built of overturns, glasses of champagne and fine humor. The director's conception must include the appreciation of style and the visual side. The directorial conception and the artistic manifestation must achieve an aesthetic fulfilment and be legitimized in the staging of the show by the rightness of the concrete quality of the actors / images relationship
