<p>Selection of Several Potato Clones (Solanum tuberosum L.) Derived from Crosses for High Yielding on Highland of Ciwidey. Kusmana. Granola and Atlantic are two dominant varieties grown by farmers. So far no other alternative superior varieties that can be used by farmers to develop potato cultivation in the field. The objective of the research was to identify potato clones that were highest yielding in the highland Ciwidey and the potential for multy location evaluation. The experiment was conducted in Ciwidey, Bandung District at altitude 1.400 m above sea level. A total of 41 advanced breeding materials and variety was planted. A Randomized Complete Block Design with three replications was used and an experimental unit consisted of 10 hill/plot. The result indicated that high yielding clones (up to 35.6 t/ha) were obtained clones 29, (43.8 t/ha), 11 (38.2 t/ha), 31 (37.3 t/ha), 13 (36 t/ha) and 35 (35.6 t/ha). Whereas, the variety of Granola as a comparison was yielded only 23.4 t/ha. Clones 9, 22 and 35 were suitable for potato chips. This study indicated that among the genotipes tested, there were superior clones were promissing for potato cultivation in indonesia.</p><p> </p><p><strong>Abstrak</strong></p><p>Areal pertanaman kentang cenderung semakin meningkat namun hasil yang dicapai petani masih relatif rendah sehingga diperlukan upaya pemuliaan untuk memperbaiki varietas yang ada. Tujuan penelitian ialah mendapatkan informasi tentang daya hasil 41 klon kentang yang berpotensi hasil tinggi pada ekosistem dataran tinggi Ciwidey. Penelitian dilaksanakan di Kecamatan Ciwidey, Kabupaten Bandung elevasi 1.400 m di atas permukaan laut. Rancangan Percobaan yang digunakan ialah Rancangan Acak Kelompok dengan tiga ulangan. Jumlah klon yang diuji meliputi 41 klon harapan, termasuk varietas pembanding Granola. Populasi tanaman per plot terdiri atas 10 individu tanaman. Hasil pengamatan menunjukkan bahwa hasil kentang tertinggi diperoleh pada klon 29 (43,8 t/ha), 11 (38,2 t/ha), 31 (37,3 t/ha), 13 (36 t/ha), dan 35 (35,6 t/ha), sementara hasil varietas pembanding Granola hanya 23,4 t/ha. Klon 9, 22 dan 35 berpotensi sebagai bahan baku industri kripik kentang. Kegiatan ini menghasilkan klon-klon kentang unggul sebagai calon varietas baru yang memberikan kontribusi terhadap peningkatan produksi kentang di Indonesia.</p>

Представлены результаты оценки сортообразцов картофеля, потенциально пригодных к переработке на картофелепродукты по комплексу хозяйственно полезных признаков и выделены родительские формы для включения в различные комбинации скрещивания. Проведена оценка гибридных популяций от скрещивания родительских форм с различной степенью пригодности к переработке на основе анализа частоты встречаемости пригодных генотипов среди гибридов 1го клубневого поколения по цвету ломтиков хрустящего картофеля и содержанию редуцирующих сахаров в клубнях в динамике зимневесеннего холодного хранения (t 23 С). Установлено, что эффективность отбора пригодных гибридов, не требующих рекондиционирования, зависит от генотипа родительских форм и направления использования их в качестве компонентов скрещивания.The results of the evaluation of potato variety samples potentially suitable for processing into potato products on a complex of economically useful features are presented and parental forms for inclusion in various combinations of crossing are identified. Assessed in hybrid populations by crossing parental forms with different degrees of suitability for processing into potato products. The frequency of genotypes occurrence among hybrids of the 1st generation of tubers suitable for processing by the color of crispy potato slices and the content of reducing sugars in tubers in the dynamics of winterspring cold storage (t23 C) was analyzed. It is established that the efficiency of selection of suitable hybrids that do not require conditioning depends on the genotype of parental forms and the direction of their use as components of crossing.

A very extensive literature review presents the possibilities and needs of using, in endodontics, the alloys commonly known as nitinol. Nitinol, as the most modern group of engineering materials used to develop root canals, is equilibrium nickel and titanium alloys in terms of the elements’ atomic concentration, or very similar. The main audience of this paper is engineers, tool designers and manufacturers, PhD students, and students of materials and manufacturing engineering but this article can also certainly be used by dentists. The paper aims to present a full material science characterization of the structure and properties of nitinol alloys and to discuss all structural phenomena that determine the performance properties of these alloys, including those applied to manufacture the endodontic tools. The paper presents the selection of these alloys’ chemical composition and processing conditions and their importance in the endodontic treatment of teeth. The results of laboratory studies on the analysis of changes during the sterilization of endodontic instruments made of nitinol alloys are also included. The summary of all the literature analyses is an SWOT analysis of strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats, and is a forecast of the development strategy of this material in a specific application such as endodontics.

SummaryA relationship between the level of dissolved O2 in a product and the head-space volume of a sealed container after filling was derived. The validity of the relationship was confirmed by studies using both water and milk which had been subjected to ultra heat treatment (UHT), and stored in glass bottles. The relation held well for water, but some deviation was noted using milk. The relationship allowed selection of the processing conditions necessary for the manufacture of products with a desired dissolved O2 level.As part of this study a device was developed which permits continuous monitoring of dissolved O2 in sterile liquids being pumped between a container and an O2 sensor. Only very minor problems were encountered with the device through biological contamination or entry of atmospheric O2.
