AbstractGloeoheppia is re-established as a separate taxon; the genus differs from Heppia in apothecial development and thallus structure. Gloeoheppia and the related genera Gudelia Henssen and Pseudopeltula Henssen described here are placed in the new family Gloeoheppiaceae in the Lichinales. In habit, the genera of Gloeoheppiaceae resemble species of Heppia and Peltula, whereas in apothecial development they correspond to some extent to the Lichinaceae. The species Gloeoheppia polyspora Henssen, Gloeoheppia rugosa Henssen, Pseudopeltula dicyanophora Henssen, Pseudopeltula heppioides Henssen, Pseudopeltula myriocarpa Henssen and Gudelia mexicana Henssen, are described for the first time. In Gloeoheppiaceae the thalli are ecorticate and the hyphae reticulately branched. The prototunicate asci contain eight, or up to 16, colourless and simple, occasionally two-celled spores. In species of Pseudopeltula, the apothecia are of a complex structure. The cyanobionts are small and single-celled; in P. dicyanophora ‘ internal cephalodia ’ with an additional, filamentous cyanobiont are formed. Lectotypes are designated for Endocarpon turgidum Ach. and Heppia furva Hue in Patouill.

We present a multilocus phylogeny of the class Dacrymycetes, based on data from the 18S, ITS, 28S, RPB1, RPB2, TEF-1α, 12S, and ATP6 DNA regions, with c. 90 species including the types of most currently accepted genera. A variety of methodological approaches was used to infer phylogenetic relationships among the Dacrymycetes, from a supermatrix strategy using maximum likelihood and Bayesian inference on a concatenated dataset, to coalescence-based calculations, such as quartet-based summary methods of independent single-locus trees, and Bayesian integration of single-locus trees into a species tree under the multispecies coalescent. We evaluate for the first time the taxonomic usefulness of some cytological phenotypic characters, i.e., vacuolar contents (vacuolar bodies and lipid bodies), number of nuclei of recently discharged basidiospores, and pigments, with especial emphasis on carotenoids. These characters, along with several others traditionally used for the taxonomy of this group (basidium shape, presence and morphology of clamp connections, morphology of the terminal cells of cortical/marginal hyphae, presence and degree of ramification of the hyphidia), are mapped on the resulting phylogenies and their evolution through the class Dacrymycetes discussed. Our analyses reveal five lineages that putatively represent five different families, four of which are accepted and named. Three out of these four lineages correspond to previously circumscribed and published families (Cerinomycetaceae, Dacrymycetaceae, and Unilacrymaceae), and one is proposed as the new family Dacryonaemataceae. Provisionally, only a single order, Dacrymycetales, is accepted with in the class. Furthermore, the systematics of the two smallest families, Dacryonaemataceae and Unilacrymaceae, are investigated to the species level, using coalescence-based species delimitation on multilocus DNA data, and a detailed morphological study including morphometric analyses of the basidiospores. Three species are accepted in Dacryonaema, the type, Da. rufum, the newly combined Da. macnabbii (basionym Dacrymyces macnabbii), and a new species named Da. macrosporum. Two species are accepted in Unilacryma, the new U. bispora, and the type, U. unispora, the latter treated in a broad sense pending improved sampling across the Holarctic.

The coronavirus has influenced the lives of many people since its identification in 1960. In general, there are seven types of coronavirus. Although some types of this virus, including 229E, NL63, OC43, and HKU1, cause mild to moderate illness, SARS-CoV, MERS-CoV, and SARS-CoV-2 have shown to have severer effects on the human body. Specifically, the recent known type of coronavirus, SARS-CoV-2, has affected the lives of many people around the world since late 2019 with the disease named COVID-19. In this paper, for the first time, we investigated the variations among the complex structures of coronaviruses. We employed the fractal dimension, approximate entropy, and sample entropy as the measures of complexity. Based on the obtained results, SARS-CoV-2 has a significantly different complex structure than SARS-CoV and MERS-CoV. To study the high mutation rate of SARS-CoV-2, we also analyzed the long-term memory of genome walks for different coronaviruses using the Hurst exponent. The results demonstrated that the SARS-CoV-2 shows the lowest memory in its genome walk, explaining the errors in copying the sequences along the genome that results in the virus mutation.

MXene, the new family of two-dimensional materials having numerous nanoscale layers, is being considered as a novel microwave absorption material. However, MXene/functionalized MXene-loaded polymer nanocomposites exhibit narrow reflection loss (RL) bandwidth (RL less than or equal to −10 dB). In order to enhance the microwave absorption bandwidth of MXene hybrid-matrix materials, for the first time, macroscopic design approach is carried out for TiO 2 -Ti 3 C 2 T x MXene and Fe 3 O 4 @TiO 2 -Ti 3 C 2 T x MXene hybrids through simulation. The simulated results indicate that use of pyramidal meta structure of MXene can significantly tune the RL bandwidth. For optimized MXene hybrid-matrix materials pyramid pattern, the bandwidth enhances to 3–18 GHz. Experimental RL value well matched with the simulated RL. On the other hand, the optimized Fe 3 O 4 @TiO 2 -Ti 3 C 2 T x hybrid exhibits two specific absorption bandwidths (minimum RL value - −47 dB). Compared with other two-dimensional nanocomposites such as graphene or Fe 3 O 4 -graphene, MXene hybrid-matrix materials show better microwave absorption bandwidth in macroscopic pattern.

Abstract Dorids are one of the largest nudibranch groups, encompassing more than 2000 species. One of the crucial problems with tracing the evolution of dorids is the relationship between cryptobranch dorids (gill cavity present) and phanerobranch dorids (gill cavity absent). Integrative morphological and molecular studies of the enigmatic Japanese dorid species of the cryptobranch genus Cadlina, C. japonica and ‘C.’ sagamiensis, which were collected by the Emperor of Japan (Shōwa era), are presented here for the first time. It is shown that while C. japonica does belong to the Cadlina clade, another Japanese species ‘C.’ sagamiensis is not part of the cryptobranch dorids of the family Cadlinidae, but is related to both the phanerobranch dorid family, Hexabranchidae, and to the cryptobranch family Cadlinellidae stat. nov. A new genus, Showajidaia gen. nov., and new family, Showajidaiidae fam. nov., are proposed for ‘C.’ sagamiensis, and four new species of the genus Cadlina are described based on a dorid-wide molecular phylogenetic analysis, which is the first substantial update of the dorid family system since 2010. Integration of phylogenetic data with an ontogenetic model of dorid evolution suggests that cryptobranch organization can be most reliably assessed as the ancestral state for the majority of dorids.

Subject The future of Chinese internet conglomerate Alibaba after the forthcoming retirement of its founder. Significance Jack Ma, founder and chairman of China’s internet giant Alibaba Group, has announced that he will resign from his position on September 10, 2019, the company’s 20th anniversary. This will be the first time any major Chinese tech tycoon has handed over the reins. It will be an important test case for both business and political reasons. Impacts The main challenge now will be managing the complex structure into which Alibaba has evolved. A more collective management could make Alibaba less vulnerable should any individual top manager fall foul of the authorities. Ma’s departure will likely create a template for other Chinese tech businesses to plan and manage inevitable leadership transitions.

ABSTRACT Escherichia coli nucleoid-associated H-NS protein interacts with the Hha protein, a member of a new family of global modulators that also includes the YmoA protein from Yersinia enterocolitica. This interaction has been found to be involved in the regulation of the expression of the toxin α-hemolysin. In this study, we further characterize the interaction between H-NS and Hha. We show that the presence of DNA in preparations of copurified His-Hha and H-NS is not directly implicated in the interaction between the proteins. The precise molecular mass of the H-NS protein retained by Hha, obtained by mass spectrometry analysis, does not show any posttranslational modification other than removal of the N-terminal Met residue. We constructed an H-NS-His recombinant protein and found that, as expected, it interacts with Hha. We used a Ni2+-nitrilotriacetic acid agarose method for affinity chromatography copurification of proteins to identify the H-NS protein of Y. enterocolitica. We constructed a six-His-YmoA recombinant protein derived from YmoA, the homologue of Hha in Y. enterocolitica, and found that it interacts with Y. enterocolitica H-NS. We also cloned and sequenced the hns gene of this microorganism. In the course of these experiments we found that His-YmoA can also retain H-NS from E. coli. We also found that the hns gene of Y. enterocolitica can complement an hns mutation of E. coli. Finally, we describe for the first time systematic characterization of missense mutant alleles of hha and truncated Hha′ proteins, and we report a striking and previously unnoticed similarity of the Hha family of proteins to the oligomerization domain of the H-NS proteins.

Eleven new taxa are described from California; two species, in addition, have new varieties added to them; and two species are given new circumscriptions to include a number of entities previously known under other names. New species are described in Percursaria (Chlorophyta), in Feldmannia (Phaeophyta), and in eight genera (Membranella, Porphyra, Rhododiscus, Peyssonelia, Prionitis, Blinksia, Besa and Rhodoglossum) of Rhodophyta. Two monotypic genera of Rhodophyta are described for the first time. One, Membranella nitens, is added to the Bangiales, and the other, Blinksia californica, is the type for a new family, the Blinksiaceae (Gigartinales). Half of the species of red algae are crustose non-corallinaceous species.

The current article presents a new family of T2R1-type spatial parallel mechanisms (PMs) with decoupled and unlimited rotation of the moving platform in planar motion. The moving platform performs two independent translations (T2) and one independent unlimited rotation (R1) whose axis is perpendicular to the plane of translations. A method is proposed for structural synthesis of T2R1-type PMs based on the theory of linear transformations. The moving platform has unlimited rotational capabilities and is decoupled with respect to translational motion. To the best of the author's knowledge, this article presents for the first time solutions of T2R1-type spatial PMs with decoupled and unlimited rotation of the moving platform in planar motion.

We report the synthesis and characterization of a new family of pentavalent uranyl amide complexes, supported also by photoluminescence and theoretical investigations. These studies reveal for the first time that the UV-visible emission of uranyl(V) is an admixture of charge transfer transitions accompanied by vibronic coupling of the quartet excited state with uranyl oxo and amide vibrations, thereby offering new insights into the electronic structure of the reactive uranyl(V)

The article presents the results of an empirical study on changes in the system of a woman's relations after a divorce, which can be manifested both in a woman's self-attitude and in her attitude towards a man; divorced women, compared to married women, have a higher percentage of non-optimal self-attitude and negative attitude towards men, divorced women with and without a child after a divorce have got differences not only in the percentage of non-optimal self-attitude and negative attitude towards men, but also in the connection between them. We have conducted our research and received the following results. Divorced women, as compared to married women, have a higher percentage of suboptimal self-attitude and negative attitude towards men. The assumption that divorced women with a child after a divorce have got a higher percentage of non-optimal self-attitude and negative attitude towards a man than women without a child after a divorce was not confirmed, while the assumption of a less close connection of self-attitude and attitude towards a man was confirmed. For the first time, an empirical study was conducted that allows us to study not only the features of self-attitude and attitude to a man in women after divorce, but also the relationship between them. The results obtained in the study can be used by psychologists working with women who are divorced. The development of an optimal self-attitude in such women will not only increase adaptive capabilities, but also contribute to a change in attitude towards a man, which ultimately can be a positive factor in creating a new family.
