Background: Anastomotic leak are reported among neonates who underwent esophageal atresia. Aim: To find risk factors of anastomotic leakage in patients underwent esophageal repair. Methods: All cases with esophageal atresia were included. In this case control study, patients were classified in two groups according to presence or absence of anastomotic leaks. Duration of study was 10 years. Results: Sixty-one cases were included. Mean±SD age at time of surgery in patients with leakage and without leakage was 9.50±7.25 and 8.83±6.93 respectively (p=.670). Blood transfusion and two layer anastomosis had significant correlation with anastomotic leakage. Conclusion: Blood transfusion and double layer anastomosis are associated with higher rate of anastomotic leakage.

Objective: The aim of the present study is to provide a retrospective evaluation of placenta accreta cases to identify the factors affecting the blood transfusion requirement, which stands as one of the most important causes of maternal mortality and morbidity.
study desıgn: A total of 110 patients who presented to the outpatient clinic of gynaecology and obstetrics of the Faculty of Medicine of Dicle University and were diagnosed with placental attachment before or during a caesarean section (C-section) between January 2006 and June 2015 were included in this study. The patients’ data were collected from the hospital’s records.
Results: During the study period, 21674 births were realised and 110 (1/200) of these patients exhibited placenta accreta. 86 of these 110 patients (78,2%) received at least one unit of blood. The group of patients that had received blood transfusion exhibited significantly higher values in age, parity, number of C-sections, length of stay (p = 0.003, 0.004, 0.024, 0.000, respectively). Multiple logistical regression analysis led to the identification of a significant association between the length of stay and the blood transfusion requirements (OR 95% Cl 2.005(1.213-3.314) p= 0.007).
Conclusion: Patients of advanced age as well as grand multiparous patients and patients with a history of multiple repeat caesarean deliveries should be evaluated more carefully during pregnancy. These patients should be referred to hospitals that provide multidisciplinary care and management before the delivery or even at the early stages of pregnancy in an effort to decrease maternal mortality and morbidity rates.

’Purpose. To observe the clinical efficacy and safety of carbon dioxide laser combined with ALA photodynamics in the treatment of condyloma acuminatum. Method. A total of 211 patients with condyloma acuminatum admitted to our hospital from April 2018 to June 2021 were selected as the observation object. They were divided into the intervention group (CO2 laser combined with ALA photodynamic therapy, 125 cases) and conventional group (CO2 laser treatment, 86 cases), and the efficacy and incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups were compared. Result. The total effective rate of the intervention group (96.00%) was significantly higher than that of the conventional group (84.88%) ( P < 0.05 ). The total incidence of adverse reactions in the intervention group (8.00%) was lower than that in the conventional group (32.56%) ( P < 0.05 ). Univariate analysis showed that the patient’s smoking history, drinking history, course of disease, wart area, and number of sexual partners were related to the short-term prognosis ( P < 0.05 ). Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that the patient’s course of disease, the area of the wart body, and the number of sexual partners were independent factors affecting the prognosis of patients with condyloma acuminatum ( P < 0.05 ). Conclusion. Carbon dioxide laser combined with ALA dynamics treatment of condyloma acuminatum significantly improves the clinical efficacy, does not increase the incidence of adverse reactions, and has important clinical therapeutic value. The course of the disease, the area of the wart, and the number of sexual partners are independent factors affecting the prognosis of patients with condyloma acuminatum.

Background: The sudden increase in demand for blood transfusion globally without the corresponding increase in voluntary blood supply (donation) has become a serious health problem. Countries across the world are facing serious problem of blood scarcity. Therefore this study was carried out to evaluate the socio- cultural factors affecting voluntary blood donation in Akwa Ibom State. Methods: A survey research design was adopted for the study and was carried out from January to May 2017. Three hundred respondents were purposely selected for the study from the three Senatorial districts using simple random techniques. Data were collected, collated and analyzed into frequencies and percentages and were also presented in tables. Results: The findings of the study revealed that majority (91.5%) people have good knowledge of voluntary blood donation due to the level of awareness and also view the exercise as important even without reward (remuneration) from recipients despite the influence of some socio-cultural factors such as culture, religion among others. Conclusion: It was therefore concluded that socio-cultural barriers to voluntary blood donation still exist, thereby giving room for misconception. Therefore, there should be intensified health education using various methods including health workers, print media and community leaders on the benefit of voluntary blood donation. This will help to correct some misconceptions on blood donation as there are people who still believe in the dictates of their religious and cultural practices as it relates to blood donation and its attendant health implication.

The study aimed to describe the motivations of nurses and determine factors influencing motivation of nurses in Ho Chi Ming blood transfusion and hematology hospital in 2020. The research methodology is cross-sectional descriptive study, combining quantitative and qualitative method, sample size is 104 nurses. The results showed that the working motivation among nurses in hospital accounted for 72.1%. The average score of working movitation was at 3.9/5. The factors such as age, marital status, income were found a significantly association with the nurses’ working motivation (p<0.05). Moreover, the factors including working condition, trainin opportunity had a positive effect to the nurses’ working motivation. Otherwise, working assign and working performance assessment were negative effects to working motivation among nurses in hospital. Keywords. Working motivation, nurses, Ho Chi Minh,…..
