To bridge the current gap between the Blockchain expectancies and their intensive computation constraints, the present paper advances a lightweight processing solution, based on a load-balancing architecture, compatible with the lightweight/embedding processing paradigms. In this way, the execution of complex operations is securely delegated to an off-chain general-purpose computing machine while the intimate Blockchain operations are kept on-chain. The illustrations correspond to an on-chain Tezos configuration and to a multiprocessor ARM embedded platform (integrated into a Raspberry Pi). The performances are assessed in terms of security, execution time, and CPU consumption when achieving a visual document fingerprint task. It is thus demonstrated that the advanced solution makes it possible for a computing intensive application to be deployed under severely constrained computation and memory resources, as set by a Raspberry Pi 3. The experimental results show that up to nine Tezos nodes can be deployed on a single Raspberry Pi 3 and that the limitation is not derived from the memory but from the computation resources. The execution time with a limited number of fingerprints is 40% higher than using a classical PC solution (value computed with 95% relative error lower than 5%).

While the National Record of the Historic Environment (NRHE) in Scotland contains valuable information on more than 170,000 archaeological monuments, it is clear that this dataset is conditioned by the disposition of past survey and changing parameters of data collection strategies over many decades. This highlights the importance of creating systematic datasets, in which the standards to which they were created are explicit, and against which the reliability of our knowledge of the material remains of the past can be assessed. This paper describes issues of data structure and reliability, then discussing the methodologies under development for expediting the progress of national-scale mapping with specific reference to the Isle of Arran. Preliminary outcomes of a recent archaeological mapping project of the island, which has been used to develop protocols for rapid large area mapping, are outlined. The primary sources for the survey were airborne laser scanning derivatives and orthophotographs, supplemented by field observation, and the project has more than doubled the number of known monuments of Arran. The survey procedures are described, followed by a discussion of the utility of ‘general purpose’ remote sensed datasets, focusing on the assessment of strengths and weaknesses for rapid mapping of large areas.

A Cross-Country Fault (CCF) is the simultaneous occurrence of a couple of Line-to-Ground Faults (LGFs), affecting different phases of same feeder or of two distinct ones, at different fault locations. CCFs are not uncommon in medium voltage (MV) public distribution networks operated with ungrounded or high-impedance neutral: despite the relatively small value of LGF current that is typical of such networks, CCF currents can be comparable to those that are found in Phase-To-Phase Faults, if the affected feeder(s) consists of cables. This occurs because the faulted cables’ sheaths/screens provide a continuous, relatively low-impedance metallic return path to the fault currents. An accurate evaluation is in order, since the resulting current magnitudes can overheat sheaths/screens, endangering cable joints and other plastic sheaths. Such evaluation, however, requires the modeling of the whole MV network in the phase domain, simulating cable screens and their connections to the primary and secondary substation earth electrodes by suitable computer programs, such as ATP (which is the acronym for alternative transient program) or EMTP (the acronym for electromagnetic transient program), with substantial input data being involved. This paper presents a simplified yet accurate circuit model of the faulted MV network, taking into account the CCF currents’ return path (cable sheaths/screens, ground conductors, and earthing resistances of secondary substations). The proposed CCF model can be implemented in a general-purpose simulation program, and it yields accurate fault currents estimates: for a 20 kV network case study, the comparison with accurate ATP simulations evidences mismatches mostly smaller than 2%, and never exceeding 5%.

A main theme of concurrent engineering is the effective communication between relevant disciplines. Any computer tools for concurrent engineering must provide sufficient constructs and strategies for this purpose. This paper describes the AGENTS system, a domain-independent general-purpose Object-Oriented Prolog language for cooperating expert systems in concurrent engineering design. Emphasis is placed on demonstrating the use of the AGENTS constructs for distributed knowledge representation and the cooperation strategies for communication, collaboration, conflict resolution, and control. A simple case study is presented to illustrate the balance between simplicity and flexibility.

In two-dimensional space, an elasto-plastic finite element computational model was established to simulate inner support for excavation on the basis of the general-purpose finite element software ABAQUS. The soil was assumed to be a uniform and normally consolidated clay layer and strut was discreted by spring element. Compared with published case study, it can be concluded that FEM software AQAQUS can present one reliable simulation progress of inner support for excavation.

Data quality assessment outcomes are essential to ensure useful analytical processes results. Relevant computational approaches provide assessment support, especially to data defects that present more precise rules. However, data defects that are more dependent of data context knowledge challenge the data quality assessment since the process involves human supervision. Visualization systems belong to a class of supervised tools that can make visible data defect structures. Despite their considerable design knowledge encodings, there is little support design to visual quality assessment of data defects. Therefore, this work reports a case study that has explored which and how visualization properties facilitate visual detection of data defect. Its outcomes offer a first set of implications to design visualization system to permit data quality visual assessment.

Brands are the key to sales increase in consumer markets. They make a relationship between the consumers and the company. Brand loyalty is a consumer’s preference to purchase a particular product or service at first or repeatedly in a competitive market. The general purpose of this study is to investigate the factors leading to brand loyalty in service sector. Specifically, we are concerned to observe the factors affecting brand loyalty in mobile phone purchasing in Bahawalpur, Pakistan. The sample size of 150 is taken through convenient sampling method. The survey method is used to collect the data from the respondents through self-administered questionnaire. The regression analysis approved the significant positive relationship of the proposed factors with brand loyalty.
