<p>In this paper we evaluate different models and constraints to define strategic planning approaches. In addition, we analyze the best models to meet the expectations generated by the organization. A forest company situated in the province of Misiones, Argentina, provided the data. Hence, forest growth was simulated and, ultimately, optimized planning was used to evaluate different scenarios with 50-year horizon. The best results to stabilize log production were obtained when the harvest is relaxed in ±2 years. Relaxing the clear-cut age leads to a better balance in planting, thinning (1, 2, 3 and 4) and clear felling operations. We found that when maximizing the economic benefit, the NPV is slightly higher, however, this is not significant. In this sense, the planner chooses an economic or volumetric objective function. Furthermore, we demonstrated that model 1 presented better results than model 2 because it manages to stabilize production in the planning horizon. The results allow forest companies to see the implication of choosing the model for strategic planning.</p>

Stemodia diplohyptoides (Plantaginaceae), a new species from Gratiolae tribe is described and illustrated. This taxon is found in northeastern Argentina, at the edge of the Parana River that surrounds the north and center of Misiones province (Argentina). It is a diploid that has been traditionally treated under Stemodia hyptoides, which is here re-circumscribed to include only autopolyploid plants (tetraploid and hexaploid). The diploid specimens may be distinguished from the polyploid S. hyptoides by several morphological features such as shape, pubescence and margin of the leaves, corolla length and corolla tube pubescence. In addition, scanning electron microphotographs of seeds, chromosomes numbers, a distribution map and a key to distinguish the related species are also provided. On the basis of morphological, cytological and geographical data, some evolutionary considerations are inferred.

This article examines the actions and perceptions of managers of 551 Municipal Education Departments concerning the contribution of a particular program implemented by the Ministry of Education in Brazil. This program, implemented in the North, Northeast and Midwest, aimed at disseminating strategic planning tools for the improvement of management and educational results. An exploratory analysis was also carried out regarding the possible relationships between managers’ perceptions and the results of their respective education systems in external evaluations. The study pointed to the potential and some of the limitations of this tool in terms of both the managerial aspects of the Education Departments, as well as the educational results in the school systems under their responsibility.

Strategic planning in library services is becoming needs today in responding to challenges in the era of industrial revolution 4.0. Strategic planning is also needs to respond the role of libraries as institution for providing information and knowledge in educating and empowering the nation. Thus, the strategic planning design is needed as a reference in developing future-oriented library services. This research aims to formulate the North Nias Public Library’s strategic planning design in improving public services. The research method was descriptive qualitative by collecting data through interview, observation, and documentation. The results of this study were North Nias Public Library’s strategic planning design with Hensley-Schoppmeyer Model which become a reference in developing the multifunctional services of North Nias Public Library in the future and the three pillars of strategic planning stages, i.e. consensus; cooperation; and proactive, creative, and contextual actions.

The article shows the need for strategic planning as an effective tool for solving social problems in the constituent entities of the North Caucasus Federal District. The regional strategies reveal the commonality of social goal-setting associated with the development of human potential and the growth of the quality of life, as well as particular specifics, reflecting the most acute life-supporting problems in the region. The work also demonstrates the low efficiency of state programs as a tool for implementing social priorities in the regions of the North Caucasus Federal District. Considering the status of the North Caucasus Federal District as a priority territory, it was proposed to make subprograms and design solutions in the context of federal projects dedicated exclusively to solving social problems in the subjects of the North Caucasus Federal District in the section “New quality of life” in the state federal programs and in socially oriented priority national projects. To implement project activities in strategic planning and state programming in social practice in the regions of the North Caucasus Federal District, an organizational and supporting mechanism for the development and implementation of socially significant regional projects has been substantiated.
