Abstract In the territory of the Slovak Republic, the transportation of goods from east to west is carried out in Eastern Slovak Trasnsshipment. The transportation of goods in direct international rail transport between the Slovak Republic, the Russian Federation, and Ukraine is carried out through the border crossing points Čierna nad Tisou – Čop and Maťovce – Užhorod. These border crossing points are places on a broad-gauge and standard-gauge railway, wherer loading, unloading, and reloading of goods from wider gauge wagons to narrower gauge wagons shall be carried out. There is also a shift of transport mode from SMGS to CIM and other services associated with this transport. An important document affecting the functioning of the single railway market is the Customs Code of the European Union and its provisions. It should be noted that the Common Economic Area of the European Union is also the common customs area of all the Member States. In the case of the cross-border international rail transport organisation, there are no control services due to the customs clearance of the goods. For carriers and customers, this means easier process organisation thanks to the provisions of the Customs Code.

The emerging population has increased travel demand and improved public transport mode in cities to connect the people. (1) Background: This study used the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) to assess the usage behavior for city rail transport with the factors attitude, subjective norm, and perceived behavioral control and its impact on pro-behavioral intentions to increase the actual usage of rail transports, i.e., LRT, MRT, and KTM commuter. (2) Method/Approach: To understand the antecedents of pro-environment behavioral intention, this study performed pilot testing, for which we collected the data through closed-ended questionnaires to test the instrument’s reliability, specifically from the Klang Valley in Malaysia. (3) Findings/Results: This study revealed that the public attitude due to environmental concern and subjective norms and perceived behavioral control are the strongest predictors for public transport usage through behavioral intention. The study estimated that most respondents would have agreed to choose public transport mode if quality of services increased. (4) Conclusion: In future research, the goal of this study could be extended as a strategic indicator for sustainable development through efficient mobility choice in Malaysia. The TPB model helps to present the factors involved in growing and retaining clients for rail transport. In terms of implications for policy, this study also provides policymakers with valuable information to maintain the current public transport passengers and attract new users through the perceived service quality and customer satisfaction of public transport.

AbstractThe paper includes the research outputs in the area of examining the total costs of delivering products to the customer for a particular transport mode choice. The methodology of choice procedure is presented based on the calculation of threshold distance for different variants of shipments in road and rail transport based on delivery costs. The paper also assesses the possibility of compiling a multi-criteria function for enterprise logistics, that beside the costs takes into account also other aspects as rail transport availability, time for loading and unloading, shipping time or environmental impacts.

AbstractWalking as a transport mode is still often underrepresented in the overall transport system. Consequently, pedestrian mobility is usually not recorded statistically in the same manner as it is performed for motorised traffic which leads to an underestimation of its importance and positive effects on people and cities. However, the integration of walkability assessments is potentially a valuable complement in urban planning processes through considering important quantitative and qualitative aspects of walking in cities. Recent literature shows a variety of approaches involving discrepancies in the definition of walkability, the factors which contribute to it, and methods of assessing them. This paper provides a new understanding of the concept of walkability in the European context. Our approach relies on the extension of methodological competence in transportation, spatial planning and geography by linking new measurement methods for evaluating walkability. We propose an integrated approach to assessing walkability in a comprehensive methodology that combines existing qualitative and GIS-based methods with biosensor technologies and thus captures the perceptions and emotions of pedestrians. This results in an increased plausibility and relevance of the results of walkability analysis by considering the spatial environment and its effect on people.

The formation of external policy of any country aims at serving the state’s interests. For this matter, many countries seek their way through this by taking into account the potential prospects available to them. The fundamental subtleties and factors that influence a state’s choices of external policy include geographical location, history, security, culture, trade, political ideology, military might, et cetera. Countries often make external contacts based on some regulations and response to unfolding events. Thus, external policy to an extent pertains to the guiding principles outlined to be pursued through state values, decisions and actions taken by the states themselves and their attempt to develop, manage and control the external relations of national societies. In this regard, the Caucasian region has been an important factor in Turkey’s foreign policy.
