This paper addresses the design problem of robust H2 output feedback controller design for damping power system oscillations. Sufficient conditions for the existence of output feedback controllers with norm-bounded parameter uncertainties are given in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs). Furthermore, a convex optimization problem with LMI constraints is formulated to design the output feedback controller which minimizes an upper bound on the worst-case H2 norm for a range of admissible plant perturbations. The technique is illustrated with applications to the design of stabilizer for a single-machine infinite-bus (SMIB) power system. The LMI based control ensures adequate damping for widely varying system operating.

In this article, a six-degree-of-freedom (6-DOF) micro-vibration platform (6-MVP) based on the Gough–Stewart configuration is designed to reproduce the 6-DOF micro-vibration that occurs at the installation surfaces of sensitive space-based instruments such as large space optical loads and laser communications equipment. The platform’s dynamic model is simplified because of the small displacement characteristics of micro-vibrations. By considering the multifrequency line spectrum characteristics of micro-vibrations and the parameter uncertainties, an iterative feedback control strategy based on a frequency response model is designed, and the effectiveness of the proposed control strategy is verified by performing integrated simulations. Finally, micro-vibration experiments are performed with a 10 kg load on the platform. The results of these micro-vibration experiments show that after several iterations, the amplitude control errors are less than 3% and the phase control errors are less than 1°. The control strategy presented in this article offers the advantages of a simple algorithm and high precision and it can also be used to control other similar micro-vibration platforms.

A human-machine shared steering control is presented in this paper for tracking large-curvature path, considering uncertainties of driver’s steering characteristics. A driver-vehicle-road (DVR) model is proposed in which uncertain characteristic parameters are defined to describe the human driver’s steering behaviors in tracking large-curvature path. Then the radial basis function neural network (RBF) is used to estimate parameters of different drivers’ characteristics and to obtain the boundaries of these parameters. Parameter uncertainties of the driver’s steering characteristics and time-varying vehicle speed of the DVR model are handled with the Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy logic. And these parameter uncertainties are considered in the design of the shared steering controller. Then based on the DVR model, a T-S fuzzy full-order dynamic compensator with D-pole assignment is designed to assist driver’s steering for tracking path with large curvature. Simulation results show that the proposed controller can provide individual levels of steering assistance in path following according to driver’s proficiency, and can improve driving comfort significantly.

In order to effectively suppress horizontal vibration of the ultra-high-speed elevator car system. Firstly, considering the nonlinearity of guide shoe, parameter uncertainties, and uncertain external disturbances of the elevator car system, a more practical active control model for horizontal vibration of the 4-DOF ultra-high-speed elevator car system is constructed and the rationality of the established model is verified by real elevator experiment. Secondly, a predictive sliding mode controller based on adaptive fuzzy (PSMC-AF) is proposed to reduce the horizontal vibration of the car system, the predictive sliding mode control law is achieved by optimizing the predictive sliding mode performance index. Simultaneously, in order to decrease the influence of uncertainty of the car system, a fuzzy logic system (FLS) is designed to approximate the compound uncertain disturbance term (CUDT) on-line. Furthermore, the continuous smooth hyperbolic tangent function (HTF) is introduced into the sliding mode switching term to compensate the fuzzy approximation error. The adaptive laws are designed to estimate the error gain and slope parameter, so as to increase the robustness of the system. Finally, numerical simulations are conducted on some representative guide rail excitations and the results are compared to the existing solution and passive system. The analysis has confirmed the effectiveness and robustness of the proposed control method.

The slightest manufacturing tolerances and variances of material properties can indeed have a significant impact on structural modes. An unintentional shift of eigenfrequencies towards dominant excitation frequencies may lead to increased vibration amplitudes of the structure resulting in radiated noise, e.g., reducing passenger comfort inside an aircraft’s cabin. This paper focuses on so-called non-structural masses of an aircraft, also known as the secondary structure that are attached to the primary structure via clips, brackets, and shock mounts and constitute a significant part of the overall mass of an aircraft’s structure. Using the example of a simplified fuselage panel, the vibro-acoustical consequences of parameter uncertainties in linking elements are studied. Here, the fuzzy arithmetic provides a suitable framework to describe uncertainties, create combination matrices, and evaluate the simulation results regarding target quantities and the impact of each parameter on the overall system response. To assess the vibrations of the fuzzy structure and by taking into account the excitation spectra of engine noise, modal and frequency response analyses are conducted.

AbstractObjectivesThe main aim of this work is to introduce a robust controller for controlling the drug dosage.MethodsThe presented work establishes a novel robust controller that controls the drug dosage and it also carried out parameters estimation. Along with this, a Regularized Error Function-based EKF (REF-EKF) is introduced for estimating the tumor cells that could be adapted for different conditions. It also assists in solving the overfitting problems, which occur during the drug dosage estimation. Moreover, the performance of the adopted controller is compared over other conventional schemes, and the attained outcomes reveal the appropriate impact of drug dosage injection on immune, normal, and tumor cells. It is also ensured that the presented controller does a robust performance on the parameter uncertainties. Moreover, to enhance the performance of the proposed system and for fast convergence, it is aimed to fine-tune the initial state of EKF optimally using a new Improved Gray Wolf Optimization (GWO) termed as Adaptive GWO (AGWO). Finally, analysis is held to validate the betterment of the presented model.ResultsThe outcomes, the proposed method has accomplished a minimal value of error with an increase in time, when evaluated over the compared models.ConclusionsThus, the improvement of the proposed REF-EKF-AGWO model is proved from the attained results.
