Lack of adherence constitutes one of the most important challenges in patients undergoing treatment with oral antineoplastic drugs (ANEO). Understanding cancer patients’ experiences with respect to their medication is key for optimizing adherence and therapeutic results. We aimed to assess the medication experience (ME) in patients with cancer in treatment with ANEO, to describe the barriers and facilitators related to the disease and its treatment and to compare them with the healthcare professionals’ perspectives. We carried out an exploratory qualitative study in the University Hospital of San Juan de Alicante, Spain. Three focus groups and two nominal group discussions were conducted with 23 onco-hematological patients treated with ANEO and 18 health professionals, respectively. The data were analyzed using content analyses and were eventually triangulated. The most impactful aspects in patients’ ME were the presence of adverse effects; lack of information about treatment; beliefs, needs and expectations regarding medications; social and family support; and the relationship with the health professionals. Both patients and professionals agreed on considering the negative side effects and the information about treatment as the main barriers and facilitators of adherence, respectively, although the approaches differed between both profiles. The professionals offered a more technical vision while patients prioritized the emotional burden and motivation associated with the disease and medication. This study allowed us to understand the real-life experiences of patients being treated with ANEO and explore the factors which had an impact on adherence to treatment. This understanding enables professionals to have a positive influence on patients’ behavior and provide individualized care plans. Pharmacists’ assistance is relevant to support patients’ adherence and self-management.

Purpose The paper aims to capture the nuances of two client–supplier relationships to offer new insights on the influences of transactional, knowledge and social elements in outsourcing partnerships. Design/methodology/approach The study has used descriptive case studies with narrative storylines. Interviews were conducted with three relationship managers (boundary gatekeepers) to understand preferred governance practices between clients and suppliers in diverse economic markets. Findings Experiences of three real-life cases engaged in offshore outsourcing have helped to identify the market, operational knowledge and social influences in a relational exchange. Findings reveal that offshore partnerships are first constituted with service-level agreements, which set control measures and layout business expectations from both partners. Boundary gatekeepers bring further accountability across firms by designing social networks for capturing and sharing of knowledge, thereby reducing each partner’s perception of risk. As firms evaluate transactional, knowledge and social elements for building a futuristic relational exchange, more disaggregated and dispersed enterprises evolve as new opportunities are explored in foreign markets. Research limitations/implications The retrospective nature of the client–supplier partnership is a limitation in this research study. However, retrospection adds to experience, and to practice perspectives made in hindsight, and therefore has a positive influence in this study. Originality/value This paper shares real-world experiences that can be used by scholars and practitioners to better understand how relational governance practices operate in a global socio-economic setting.

The purpose of the study is to comprehend the phenomenon of network creativity in the context of the formation of the cultural capital of modern human. The methodology of the research is represented by a system approach, which allows to understand the cultural changes caused by the formation of information and technological paradigm of modern society, as well as by a hermeneutic approach that contributes to the interpretation of the inherent meanings in the works of network creativity. The scientific novelty of the study consists in expanding the area of understanding the concept of cultural capital, as well as determining the ability of network creativity to accumulate the cultural capital of modern human. Conclusions. As a result of the research it was established that modern unique conditions of our existence between the real and virtual worlds necessitate a revision of the classical understanding of cultural capital. The theoretical and applied aspects of using network creativity in favor of increasing the cultural capital of an individual are analyzed. Two vectors of its accumulation in the network space are defined. First, these are netiquette and meme literacy, the level of which determines the ability to read the message encoded in amateur Internet content. In other words, the understanding of network creativity equals investment in the person`s cultural capital. Second, these are cultural products as result of network creativity, which are translated into real life through virtuality, where have positive influence on social, professional and commercial success. The following examples in the Ukrainian segment of the Internet are considered. These are: Internet-meme Goose and YouTube blog “SlivkiShow”. Ways to earn money on YouTube have been studied. The formula for calculating the earnings of YouTube blogger has been determined.

The study incorporates the problem-based approach (PBL) in the English class with an attempt to improve English low achievers’ grammar competence pertaining to relative clauses and their motivation in learning English. Fifty students divided into seven teams with leader for each were recruited. This study adopts the pre- and post-test research design as well as classroom observation checklist and two assignments. The result indicates that the engagement level of the participants is increased by the scenario-based strategy and their grammar competence improves under PBL instruction after being compared with the scores of pretest and posttest, which suggests that the PBL approach really exerts a positive influence on the performance of the participant. The finding also implies that the participants emphasizes, when offering solutions to the scenario, more on employment than on studies, which may reflect their real life experiences.

This article serves as an explorative piece attempting to investigate social networking norms and their contribution towards increased levels of disengagement and disconnection. After recognizing superficial online trends of interaction within her own social network, the author discloses experiencing feelings of hopelessness. In attempt to explore these feelings and unmask the factors underlying these trends, elements of motivation, privacy, and an individual’s relationship with control are discussed. Themes of expectant accessibility and communication within the realm of technology are explored and compared to real life interactions and experiences, with emphasis on an observed dissonance occurring between them. Notions of social networking's contribution to unrealistic expectations of self-image and worth are addressed to caution the reader against over-embellishment and the risks associated with distorted representations of self. Concluding remarks credit the positive influence of social networking’s impact on society while warranting further investigation from the reader. Readers are encouraged to reflect on the topics in attempt to establish their own healthy, balanced relationship with technology and social media.

Abstract Although anger as a negative emotion is associated with unpleasantness, recent research on anger highlights its motivational effect. The present study tested whether individuals experience both, an unpleasant and an activating affect, after real-life provocations. Results revealed that an anger situation evoked not only typical subjective and cardiovascular anger reactions but also a sense of strength, which is a positive affect. A comparison of participants with low versus high anger disposition according to the STAXI-2 at baseline, treatment, and recovery showed that participants with high trait anger consistently scored higher in subjective ratings of feeling strong than their counterparts did. Moreover, we found a larger and longer lasting effect of feeling strong than feeling angry after an anger treatment. Thus, differences in anger disposition influence the positive correlation between trait anger and positive affect.

With the continuous growth of online learning in higher education, the need to design course materials that capitalize and leverage on the richness of the Internet and learning technologies has taken on new dimensions. Constructivist theory paired with instructional design models is believed to have a positive influence on the design of learning environments that apply content to real-life situations. Constructivist instructional design for online learning challenges instructional designers regarding the philosophy and methodology to be used, while it provides the conditions for learner-centered instruction. Instructional design and learning theories have been separated into their own arenas. Developing online learning environments using constructivist instructional design addresses and serves the learning needs of students by providing opportunities for increased knowledge construction and participation.

Online social network has developed significantly in recent years. Most of current research has utilized the property of online social network to spread information and ideas. Motivated by the applications of dominating set in social networks (such as e-learning), a variation of the dominating set called positive influence dominating set (PIDS) has been studied in the literature. The existing research for PIDS problem do not take into consideration the attributes, directions and degrees of personal influence. However, these factors are very important for selecting a better PIDS. For example, in a real-life e-learning community, the attributes and the degrees of their influence between a tutor and a student are different; the relationship between two e-learning users is asymmetrical. Hence, comprehensive, deep investigation of user’s properties become an emerging and urgent issue. The focus of this study is on the degree and direction between e-learners’ influence. A novel dominating set model called weighted positive influence dominating set (WPIDS), and two selection algorithms for the WPIDS problem have been proposed. Experiments using synthetic data sets demonstrate that the proposed model and algorithms are more reasonable and effective than those of the positive influence dominating set (PIDS) without considering the key factors of weight, direction and so on.
