PT. X adalah salah satu perusahaan pengelola Hutan Tanaman Industri (HTI) yang mendapatkan ijin seluas 296.262 ha. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menyusun model pengelolaan hutan tanaman industri yang berkelanjutan. Penelitian ini berfokus pada Eucalyptus pellita pada distrik Rasau Kuning, Provinsi Riau. Metode yang digunakan adalah Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) sebagai metode dalam model pengelolaan hutan tanaman industri. Aspek yang menjadi pembahasan dalam penelitian ini adalah peran silvikultur, pendapatan pekerja tidak tetap, pendidikan dan pelatihan, sarana dan prasarana produksi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa analisis AHP terhadap peran silvikultur, pendapatan pekerja tidak tetap, pendidikan dan pelatihan terhadap potensi tegakan adalah silvikulur dengan nilai (0,523). Analisis AHP pada pengelolaan hutan tanaman industri yang berkelanjutan dengan hasil alternatif prioritas adalah sarana dan prasarana produksi (0,408) pada pengelolaan hutan tanaman industri. Penelitian ini membuktikan kriteria silvikultur dan alternatif sarana dan prasarana produksi mempunyai peran utama dalam model pengelolaan hutan tanaman industri yang berkelanjutan.Kata kunci:  Hutan Tanaman Industri, potensi tegakan, keberlanjutanManagement Model of Eucalyptus pellita in Sustainable Industrial ForestAbstractPT. AHP analysis on sustainable industrial plantation management with priority alternative results is production facilities and infrastructure (0.408) in industrial plantation management. In the past few decades, there has been lot of focus on the issue of sustainability. This has occurred due to the growing concerns related to climate change and the growing awareness about environmental concerns. Also, the competition at global level has led to the search for the most sustainable route in the industries. The current research work deals with the selection of green supplier in a Nickle coating industry based on certain weighted green attributes. For this purpose, a hybrid tool comprising of Fuzzy AHP (Fuzzy Analytical Hierarchy) and VIKOR (VlseKriterijumska Optimizacija I Kompromisno Resenje) is used. The Fuzzy AHP is used for assigning proper weights to the selected criteria for supplier evaluation, while VIKOR is used for final supplier selection based on the weighted criteria. The three criterions for green supplier selection are, Ecological packaging, Corporate socio-environmental responsibility and Staff Training. The outcome of the integrated model may serve as a steppingstone to other SMEs in different sectors for selecting the most suitable supplier for addressing the sustainability issue.


As per Economic Survey of Punjab, (2019-20), Punjab alone contributed more than 1/4 and 1/3 of the central pool of rice and th rd wheat respectively in 2018-19 and accordingly named as bread-basket of India. However, such a huge contribution was due to the structural transformation of agriculture in Punjab under the Green Revolution. Such transformation leads to intensive use of natural resources with mono-culture of wheat-paddy till today, which put a big question mark on the sustainability issue of agriculture in Punjab. The present study was exclusively based on secondary data, covering the period of 1965-66 to 2018-2019, almost 55 years. Hirschman Herfindhal index and Simpson Diversity index were used to determine the extent of concentration and diversification in the cropping pattern of Punjab agriculture. The results highlight the facts that level of diversification was declining and the level of concentration was increasing. Moreover, Compound Growth Rate (CGR) of yield was either stagnating or declining over the years. Not only this, based on the index of agriculture production, the trend values were negative since the 21 century. Accordingly, st intensive agricultural practices should be stopped, and diversification should get priority in such a way that food security is not jeopardized.

Intensive loblolly pine (Pinus taeda L.) plantation management in the southeastern United States includes mid-rotation silvicultural practices (MRSP) like thinning, fertilization, competitive vegetation control, and their combinations. Consistent and well-designed long-term studies considering interactions of MRSP are required to produce accurate projections and evaluate management decisions. Here we use longitudinal data from the regional Mid-Rotation Treatment study established by the Plantation Management Research Cooperative (PMRC) at the University of Georgia across the southeast U.S. to fit and validate a new dynamic model system rooted in theoretical and biological principles. A Weibull pdf was used as a modifier function coupled with the basal area growth model. The growth model system and error projection functions were estimated simultaneously. The new formulation results in a compatible and consistent growth and yield system and provides temporal responses to treatment. The results indicated that the model projections reproduce the observed behavior of stand characteristics. The model has high predictive accuracy (the cross-validation variance explained was 96.2%, 99.7%, and 98.6%; and the prediction root mean square distance was 0.704 m, 19.1 trees ha−1, and 1.03 m2ha−1 for dominant height (DH), trees per hectare (N), and basal area (BA), respectively), and can be used to project the current stand attributes following combinations of MRSP and with different thinning intensities. Simulations across southern physiographic regions allow us to conclude that the most overall ranking of MRSP after thinning is fertilization + competitive vegetation control (Fert + CVC) > fertilization only (Fert) > competitive vegetation control only (CVC), and Fert + CVC show less than additive effect. Because of the model structure, the response to treatment changes with location, age of application, and dominant height growth as indicators of site quality. Therefore, the proposed model adequately represents regional growth conditions.

Abstract Swiss needle cast (SNC), caused by Nothophaeocryptopus gaeumannii, is a foliage disease of Douglas-fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii), that reduces growth in native stands and exotic plantations worldwide. An outbreak of SNC began in coastal Oregon in the mid-1990s and has persisted since that time. Here we review the current state of knowledge after 24 years of research and monitoring, with a focus on Oregon, although the disease is significant in coastal Washington and has recently emerged in southwestern British Columbia. We present new insights into SNC distribution, landscape patterns, disease epidemiology and ecology, host-pathogen interactions, trophic and hydrologic influences, and the challenges of Douglas-fir plantation management in the presence of the disease. In Oregon, the SNC outbreak has remained geographically contained but has intensified. Finally, we consider the implications of climate change and other recently emerged foliage diseases on the future of Douglas-fir plantation management. Study Implications: Douglas-fir tree growers need to consider Swiss needle cast (SNC) and other emerging foliage diseases as SNC has not abated over the past 24 years, and along with other emerging diseases, it continues to pose a threat to Douglas-fir plantation productivity. Douglas-fir management in western Oregon remains important, such that a knowledge of disease impacts and effective silvicultural responses is key. Managers should carefully consider whether alternative species may be ecologically or economically beneficial in some situations while tree improvement programs must continue to breed for tolerance to SNC. Research shows that regional scale foliage disease outbreaks can result in trophic cascades and hydrologic changes that affects more than just the trees. The environmental controls on the SNC epidemic imply that climate change could strongly influence future directions of the outbreak, with the greatest threats to trees at higher elevations.

When adopting the zero waste strategy for the implementation of waste management measures at a Higher Education Institution, the commitment in the institution is of fundamental importance, not only with solid waste, but with the sustainability issue under a circular economy perspective, which should gradually be incorporated to the different programs and routine actions from universities. Several directions can be taken in the construction of this path so that universities are managed under the sustainability’s premises. In this article, the zero waste strategy for implementation of a circular economy program will be analyzed as a way to consolidate the process Green Campus. A qualitative and exploratory research was undertaken on green campus and zero waste strategies, mainly in universities. Although there is still a limited number of universities committed to zero waste actions, it was possible to appoint the benefits when implementing institutional programs related to sustainability and the fulfillment of the Sustainable Development Goals.

This research is backgrounded by some environmental problems which increasingly worries day plus the problem of management of natural resources that are not friendly and tend to be greedy. The rapid pace of development and population growth in the past decade has led to the conversion of forest and agricultural land into industrial, plantation and residential areas, resulting in degradation of uncontrolled environmental damage and pollution. The main purpose of this research is to know how environmental management conducted by Pondok Pesantren SPMAA Lamongan, East Java. In addition, the purpose of this study to find out how the implementation of environmental management conducted by the boarding school as a mirror of concern for the surrounding environment. This research uses qualitative approach. This means that the data collected is not a number, but the data comes from interviews, personal documents, memo notes, field notes, and other official documents. So that the purpose of this study is to describe the empiric reality behind the phenomenon in depth, detailed, and thorough. This research concludes that every pesantren has its own characteristic in running the concept of ekopesantren that exist, and in this pesantrenen pesantren SPMAA ekopesantren understood as pesantren that can coexist with nature and full of lesson will utilize resources wisely and wisely. Although this boarding school has not fully implemented ekopesantren. This is seen from ecopesantren indicator that has been fulfilled and that has not been fulfilled.

Research question: The paper investigated whether a possibility for improving eco – efficiency of BSEC member states exists. Motivation: BSEC member states are primarily oriented towards accomplishing various economic goals, and they are very successful in this area. On the other hand, sustainability issue is still one of major problems for these states, since all BSEC member states do not pay full attention to sustainable development. Also, there are no quality researches that provide deeper analysis of sustainability issues for BSEC member states and so the goal research was to explore if there exists any link between factors that have impact on eco – efficiency of BSEC member states in order to provide sustainable solutions for BSEC member states. Idea: The core idea of this paper was to empirically evaluate the relationship between some factors that have impact on eco – efficiency on BSEC member states, but also to test the implementation of Ehrlich and Holdren equation on the BSEC member states. Data: Analysis was conducted for all 12 BSEC member states using data from several databases such as: IEA, Trading Economics and World Bank. Time series for analyzed data starts in 1995 and ends in 2015. Tools: Statistical analysis of all collected data (descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, linear regression analysis and panel data analysis) was used to draw conclusions between the analyzed variables and check if they have statistical evaluation. Findings: The results showed that full implementation of Ehrlich and Holdren equation among the BSEC member states is not possible due to social aspect of equation. Analysis also suggest that gasoline prices, CO2 emissions and renewable resources should become vital part of future sustainable strategies for the BSEC member states, since all these variables have strong impact on eco – efficiency of the BSEC member states. Contribution: The paper expands existing research literature by providing detailed sustainable development analysis of the BSEC region, since there were no so many sustainability analysis of BSEC region like this in the past.
