The article presents the results of studies relating to compaction of weak water-saturated forest soils and vertical sandy drains under static and seismic effects in the conditions of the Central Asian region. Considering the absence of any experimental and theoretical studies of the application of this parameter, field (in-situ) experimental studies were carried out to identify the possibilities and effectiveness of its use in conditions of weak water-rich loess soils of the Republic of Tajikistan. The article discusses changes in the basic physical and mechanical characteristics of soils and experimental structures. At the experimental site, three plots with a size of 10·10 m were prepared, where the plot was loaded without the installation of vertical sand drains; 3·3 m to a depth of 6.0 m. Static loading of experimental plots by a derivative by layer-by-layer dumping of ground material with measurement of total and layer-by-layer deformations of the packed thickness. Imitation of seismic impact with an intensity of 8 points was carried out using short-delayed explosions of explosive charges. Studies have shown the effectiveness of the use of vertical sandy drains for compaction of weak water-saturated loess soils. Recommendations are given on the use of explosion energy to improve the quality of soil compaction.

After the collapse of the USSR, permanent domestic political turbulence gave rise to political autocracy and political struggle with its characteristic technologies for influencing internal state processes. At the same time, the Central Asian states began to actively engage in global processes. At the same time, various countries of the East and West began to show interest in expanding their economic and geopolitical presence in the Central Asian region. At the same time, the ideological influence on the countries of Central Asia intensified. Various external forces, pursuing specific goals, seek to exert their influence on the internal processes of sovereign states, often contrary to the interests of the peoples of the Central Asian region. In this article, the author analyzes the influence of external actors on the internal processes of Central Asian states from the point of view of ensuring the national security of Russia.

The Republic of Belarus plays an important role in the diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and the CIS. In turn, the Republic of Belarus, as one of the main partners of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the Central Asian region, is interested in maintaining strong diplomatic relations. Medical tourism has become a catchphrase in the early years of the 21st Century for even the most unlikely of destinations. This chapter outlines the issues and practices involved in an assessment of the status of medical tourism in the emerging economies and destinations of the Asian Region. A selection of countries as case studies covers the region from the Central Asian Republics of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, South Asia (Sri Lanka), through to Cambodia, Taiwan, Myanmar, and Japan. The growth of medical tourism in the Asian region, and its various economic and social impact on abovementioned countries is under focus in this chapter. It provides a comprehensive view of how different countries should capitalize on their advantage to increase their share of regional or international medical tourism market. Both technological advances and traditional medicine have provided comparative advantage for medical tourism destinations in the Asian region.

Acknowledging the value and importance of culture at local, national and global levels, the international community has progressively developed a series of conventions for the protection, preservation and enhancement of cultural heritage. Each of these conventions provides a unique set of binding principles and practices that member-states must follow in order to strengthen the protection of the heritage at stake. Still, while some of these laws have been enthusiastically embraced by Central Asian countries, others have been mostly ignored or avoided. This article aims to briefly examine three issues. First, the current rate of ratification of these conventions in the Central Asian region. Second, the main reasons why some of these legal documents have not received a spread endorsement in Central Asia. Third, a tentative interpretation of Central Asian states’ intentions over the next years.

This article is a brief overview of the main trends in the foreign policy of Uzbekistan under the new leadership of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The sections on bilateral relations and interaction of Uzbekistan with international organisations give an important insight into the dynamics of a strategically important Central Asian region and Eurasia as a whole. The article also reflects Uzbekistan’s perception of Eurasia as a region that is experiencing several geopolitical shifts.
