Abstract The online Archaeobotanical Literature Database (ArchbotLit) is an important tool for getting targeted access to archaeobotanical publications. It offers the opportunity for archaeobotanists, archaeologists, freelancers, students and an interested public to easily obtain information about cultivated plants and their development. In addition it increases the visibility of archaeobotanical studies beyond the inner circle and supports teaching in environmental archaeology. The ArchbotLit database builds upon the efforts of Jürgen Schultze-Motel, Gatersleben, and Helmut Kroll, Kiel, who have collected offprints of papers from archaeobotanists worldwide since the 1980s. The content was transferred into referenced plant lists that were published annually from 1992 to 2001 in the central organ of the “International Workgroup for Palaeoethnobotany (IWGP)”, the journal “Vegetation History and Archaeobotany” and as contributions entitled “Literature on archaeological remains of cultivated plants”. These were succeeded by the online database “archaeobotany.de”, comprising the literature from 1981 to 2004. To sustain this online-database in the public domain it was recently converted into the wiki-platform “ArchbotLit”, hosted at Kiel University. Here, we introduce the new wiki-online-database and its functionalities for data upload and as a search engine.

AbstractWith its decision in the Google-case, the Court has put essential ground rules of EU data protection law in concrete terms. It has thereby deviated in several ways from leading opinions in legal writing which may partly be due to the fact that these are not free of personal involvement. More importantly though seems the conclusion that this decision underlines in many respects that theoretical patterns of EU private law are different from those of the traditional national law - and this divergence also holds true for major parts of the public law and, of course, data protection law. The Court has interpreted the responsibility with regard to data protection law and also the criteria in Art. 4 of the Directive very broadly, which has not met with general approval before. The ECJ strictly orientated itself by the general concept that even the search engine operator requires a permit for the processing of data. This in mind, it has given the fundamental right of data protection an important role in its considering in contrast to the user’s interest in respect of use of the service and the economic interests of the operator

Abstract Congenital heart disease (CHD) is one of the most common birth defects, with complex genetic and environmental etiologies. The reports of genetic variation associated with CHD have increased dramatically in recent years due to the revolutionary development of molecular technology. However, CHD is a heterogeneous disease, and its genetic origins remain inconclusive in most patients. Here we present a database of genetic variations for non-syndromic CHD (NS-CHD). By manually literature extraction and analyses, 5345 NS-CHD-associated genetic variations were collected, curated and stored in the public online database. The objective of our database is to provide the most comprehensive updates on NS-CHD genetic research and to aid systematic analyses of pathogenesis of NS-CHD in molecular level and the correlation between NS-CHD genotypes and phenotypes. The word portal came from the Latin word porta, which is translated to gate. Anything that acts as a gateway to anything else is a portal. The portal server acts as gateway to the enterprise in a network. However, there are many different definitions of the word portal. A search of the word using Google search engine yields many thousands of references. Some consider portal to be a new name for a Web site. A portal is an entry point to the World Wide Web (WWW) and therefore, more than what a Web site does. According to Internet 101 , a portal is a Web site linking to another Web site. Sometimes search engines have been referred to as portals. Access companies, such as Microsoft Network (MSN) and America On-Line (AOL), have often been referred to as portals. Although the definition of the word portal is still evolving, the definition we will use is a gateway, and a Web portal can thus be seen as a gateway to the information and services on the Web, more specifically to services on both the public Internet and on corporate intranets. This article aims to take the historical approach based on the development of the Web and examine the factors that have contributed to the evolution of portals. The origin of portals came about because of the need for information organisation. Users need to be provided with coherent and understandable information.

When the First World War ended, the landscape had been transformed into a wasteland. Later, the population faced the challenge of rebuilding the region. Many traces of the war were then wiped out. Everywhere, the archaeological remains are slumbering in the soil, barely 30 cm deep and invisible to the visitors. It took a while before the remains of the war have been considered as archaeological heritage. It was not until 2002-2004 that professional archaeologists in Belgium began to show an interest in this special heritage. Since then, the importance of this archaeology has only increased and today it is part of mainstream archaeological research. Several initiatives built on the successful first commemorative year 2014 in Belgium, with record numbers of visitors in the Westhoek. During the commemorations, various archaeological projects were put in the spotlight and were picked up with great interest from the public. This chapter highlights a series of high-profile initiatives that shaped specific parts of the remembrance of the First World War in Belgium.

With rapid development of search engine users, the auto bidding for search engine keywords is stealthily rising and such kind of service is now essentially being conducted on the majority of existing search engines. For merchants, users and even the search engine service suppliers, auto bidding is of many advantages, which is also thought it has brought forth serious phenomenon of bad faith in terms of such kind of similar search websites, leading to a crisis of confidence. This text is intended to give it a full analysis on the various problems of bad faith resulted from the auto bidding for search engine keywords. And it is in consideration of the huge controlling forcing and social influence of the search engines, there lies a great need in strengthening the closer government supervision. While guaranteeing a healthy and orderly development of search engine, our purpose is to render back an honest and clean searching environment of internet information to the public.
