SummaryTwo shrines of circular and polygonal shape, probably part of a larger group, were erected early in the second half of the third century A.D., and occupied until late in the fourth century. The shrines occur in an area of widespread settlement dating from the late Iron Age until the end of the fourth century. Many objects of bronze and iron of ritual significance, together with a large number of votive deposits and coins, were recovered from the circular shrine. Miss M. V. Taylor's discussion of the principal objects appears on pp. 264–8.

Through this study, equipment was developed which could work large size stones into linear and curve shaped cutting planes and cut polygonal shaped stones during the lapping and semi-finishing works which are pre-tasks to manufacture the large size building column or large size stone statue which is installed in the temple. The best is to read these instructions and follow the outline of this text. Safety of equipment could be secured using design program and structure interpreting program and productivity could be improved by reducing the required manpower and working time for rough grinding and semi-finishing works through positioning control module. This technology is expected to be utilized in manufacturing various stone equipments by applying the working path generation and oil pressure technologies as the type of NC work equipments as well as in future working area.

Aluminum borate whisker (9( Al 2 O 3)·( B 2 O 3)) reinforced AS52(with and without strontium modification) metal matrix composites (MMC) were fabricated by the squeeze infiltration method. Creep rupture test was carried out at 150°C and 100 MPa condition. Results showed that Alborex reinforcement and modified polygonal shape Mg 2 Si phase contributed to the enhancement of mechanical properties and creep resistance. Creep rupture time was increased 11% and minimum creep rate was decreased 17% in the composite. At the Alborex/matrix interface, uniform thin layer of MgO was formed. The initiation of micro-voids at the reinforcement/matrix or Mg 2 Si /matrix interface was followed by their growth and coalescence to macro-cracks.

Owing to its beneficial material properties, Al-Mg2Si in-situ composite has recently received wide attention and application in the manufacture of automotive and aerospace components. Melt treatment of the in-situ composite with the addition of Ce has resulted in a change in the primary and eutectic Mg2Si phases to refined morphology, which would be expected to improve the mechanical properties of the composite. Characteristic parameters of Mg2Si particles have been investigated via thermal and microstructural analysis. This has revealed that the addition of 0.8wt.% Ce produced optimum refinement effects on Mg2SiP because the coarse structure has been changed to a polygonal shape and reduced in size. Similarly, the flake-like morphology of Mg2SiE has been transformed into a rod-like or fibre form in addition to reduction of the eutectic cell area. The result also showed an increase in nucleation temperature TN of Mg2SiP while depressed for Mg2SiE, which also corresponds to the refinement morphology effect.

This article is concerned with spatial linkages forming a closed loop. In one extreme configuration (deployed), these linkages form a frame of polygonal shape, such as a square or a hexagon, and in the other extreme (folded), configuration form a tight bundle. Throughout their motion range, they have mobility one. These linkages have potential applications for next-generation deployable spacecraft structures. The article presents a systematic study of the kinematics of closed-loop structures with these special properties and a numerical scheme for simulating their deployment without making any assumptions about particular symmetry features. The proposed simulation technique is applied to three examples that show different behaviour during deployment.

Direct ferritin immunoelectron microscopy was applied to visualize the distribution of the hepatocyte cell surface of the asialoglycoprotein receptor which is responsible for the rapid clearance of serum glycoproteins and lysosomal catabolism. For this purpose, rabbit antibody against the purified hepatic binding protein specific for asialoglycoproteins was prepared and coupled to ferritin by glutaraldehyde. The specific antibody conjugates were incubated with the hepatocytes, which were isolated from rat liver homogenate after fixation by glutaraldehyde perfusion. These cells preserved well the original polygonal shape and polarity, and it was easy to identify the sinusoidal, lateral, and bile canalicular faces. The surface density of the ferritin particles bound to the sinusoidal face was about four times higher than that of particles bound to the lateral face, while the bile canalicular face was hardly labeled and almost at the control level. Using the surface area of hepatocyte measured by morphometrical analyses, it was estimated that approximately 90% of bound ferritin particles were at the sinusoidal face, approximately 10% at the lateral face, and approximately 1% at the bile canalicular face. Nonhepatic cells such as endothelial and Kupffer cells had no receptor specific for asialoglycoproteins.
