We conducted the first national survey of computing education at Japanese universities in 2016. In this paper, we report the survey result of the computing education at non-IT departments and faculties whose major subject is not computing. The survey covers various aspects of computing education including program organization, quality and quantity of educational achievement, students, teaching staff and computing environment. We collected 994 answers through the survey. At least 87,000 non-ICT students are taking computing education in Japan. Although computing education is carried out at every major academic discipline, teaching effort greatly differs depending on the academic discipline. We also find shortage of teaching staff for computing education. The analysis result will be an essential input to develop reasonable curriculum guidelines and accreditation criteria to improve computing education at non-IT departments.

Random numbers are an essential input to many functions on the Internet of Things (IoT). Common use cases of randomness range from low-level packet transmission to advanced algorithms of artificial intelligence as well as security and trust, which heavily rely on unpredictable random sources. In the constrained IoT, though, unpredictable random sources are a challenging desire due to limited resources, deterministic real-time operations, and frequent lack of a user interface. In this article, we revisit the generation of randomness from the perspective of an IoT operating system (OS) that needs to support general purpose or crypto-secure random numbers. We analyze the potential attack surface, derive common requirements, and discuss the potentials and shortcomings of current IoT OSs. A systematic evaluation of current IoT hardware components and popular software generators based on well-established test suits and on experiments for measuring performance give rise to a set of clear recommendations on how to build such a random subsystem and which generators to use.

One of the main goals of the cold baryonic matter (CBM) experiment at FAIR is to explore the phases of strongly interacting matter at finite temperature and baryon chemical potential μ B . The equation of state of quantum chromodynamics (QCD) at μ B > 0 is an essential input for the CBM experiment, as well as for the beam energy scan in the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider(RHIC) experiment. Unfortunately, it is highly nontrivial to calculate the equation of state directly from QCD: numerical Monte Carlo studies on lattice are not useful at finite μ B . Using the method of Taylor expansion in chemical potential, we estimate the equation of state, namely the baryon number density and its contribution to the pressure, for two-flavor QCD at moderate μ B . We also study the quark number susceptibilities. We examine the technicalities associated with summing the Taylor series, and explore a Pade resummation. An examination of the Taylor series can be used to get an estimate of the location of the critical point in μ B , T plane.

In the case of the modeling of sintering and heat treatments, the diffusion coefficients are an essential input. However, experimental data in the literature about diffusion coefficients for rare-earth transition metal intermetallics is scarce. In this study, the available data concerning diffusion coefficients relevant for rare-earth transition metal magnets are reviewed and commented. Some empirical rules are discussed, for example the activation energy is affected by the size of the diffusing impurity atom. Diffusion coefficients for Dy, Nd and Fe into Nd2Fe14B are given according an Arrhenius equation D=D0exp (-Q/RT). For Dy diffusion into Nd2Fe14B, Q 315 kJ/mol and D08 . 10-4m2/s.

Abstract This paper presents a finite element mesh generation algorithm (PREPAT) designed to automatically discretize two-dimensional domains. The mesh generation algorithm is a mapping scheme which creates a uniform isoparametric FE model based on a pre-partitioned domain of the component. The proposed algorithm provides a faster and more accurate tool in the pre-processing phase of a Finite Element Analysis (FEA). A primary goal of the developed mesh generator is to create a finite element model requiring only essential input from the analyst. As a result, the generator code utilizes only a sketch, based on geometric primitives, and information relating to loading/boundary conditions. These conditions represents the constraints that are propagated throughout the model and the available finite elements are uniformly mapped in the resulting sub-domains. Relative advantages and limitations of the mesh generator are discussed. Examples are presented to illustrate the accuracy, efficiency and applicability of PREPAT.

Indonesia has a Muslim majority population and has two sources of education that both improve the quality of its citizens' educational resources. The author believes that the two sources, namely the Koran and the national education law, have strong relevance. To prove this assumption, we have conducted a series of studies of educational literature on many literature data published in various educational journals, both national and international. We found the data source through an electronic search on many journals, books, and websites that actively discuss religious and national education issues. After the collection of literature, we further examined the data evaluation system involved in the coding of conclusions drawn after high interpretation to obtain data that answered questions validly and reliably. Based on the data and discussion, we find a high relevance between the messages in the Koran and the goals of national education in Indonesia. It is hoped that this finding will become an essential input for improving educational science that links religious messages and national education.

With more than 500 million subscribers, India is the second largest mobile phone market in the world after China. In the last decade, an average of 15 Telecom operators has started operations in India. The market has been flamboyant for Indian as well as Foreign investors. Many of them are entering through the Merger and Acquisition route. The Governing Regulatory Authorities have a responsibility that no irregularity occurs and that every investor is given equal opportunity. Spectrum which is a constrained essential input for mobile services is also highly fragmented leading to possible industry inefficiencies. This paper critically examines the Merger and Acquisition scenario in the Telecom industry in India and the current policy framework that provides policy prescriptions for the future.
