AbstractIn this study, the aerosol removal coefficients based on 7Be, 210Pb and 210Po radionuclides in the urban air, in Lodz, Poland, were investigated over 3 years, between May 2014 and December 2017. Results representing the summer/warm and winter/cold seasons were applied to quantity and quality estimates of aerosol removal processes. The values for the removal processes were closely dependent on the meteorological conditions; therefore, a set of nine meteorological parameters was employed in the analysis. The multiple regression method was applied to explain the relationship between the removal coefficients of aerosols and independent factors identified using Principal Component Analysis.

Soil radon data were recorded at two selected sites along Mat fault in Mizoram (India), which lies in the highest seismic zone in India. The study was carried out during July 2011 to May 2013 using LR-115 Type II films. Precursory changes in radon concentration were observed prior to some earthquakes that occurred around the measuring sites. Positive correlation was found between the measured radon data and the seismic activity in the region. Statistical analysis of the radon data together with the meteorological parameters was done using Multiple Regression Method. Results obtained show that the method employed was useful for removing the effect of meteorological parameters and to identify radon maxima possibly caused by seismic activity.

The aim of the work was to compare water consumption forecasting in two towns of different sizes. The objects of research were the town of Toruń and the town of Żnin in central Poland. Two models were built for each. The models were constructed using the multiple regression method. In constructing the models, explanatory variables determined by Principal Component Analysis (PCA) were used. The set of explanatory variables identified to construct each individual model differed. The models for Toruń obtained better forecast quality assessment criteria values. This was mainly due to the water supply system in the small town (Żnin) being less resilient to sudden, short-term changes in consumers’ water use. At the same time, the importance of the location of the meteorological stations from which data was taken to build the model was emphasised.

Abstract. The relationship between local meteorological conditions and the surface ozone variability was studied by means of statistical modeling, using ozone and meteorological parameters measured at Lovozero (250 m a.s.l., 68.5°N, 35.0°E, Kola Peninsula) for the period of 1999-2000. The regression model of daily mean ozone concentrations on such meteorological parameters as temperature, relative humidity and wind speed explains up to 70% of day-to-day ozone variability in terms of meteorological condition changes, if the seasonal cycle is also considered. A regression model was created for separated time scales of the variables. Short-term, synoptical and seasonal components are separated by means of Kolmogorov-Zurbenko filtering. The synoptical scale variations were chosen as the most informative from the point of their mutual relation with meteorological parameters. Almost 40% of surface ozone variations in time periods of 11-60 days can be explained by the regression model on separated scales that is 30% more efficient than ozone residuals usage. Quantitative and qualitative estimations of the relations between surface ozone and meteorological predictors let us preliminarily conclude that at the Lovozero site surface ozone variability is governed mainly by dynamical processes of various time scale rather than photochemistry, especially during the cold season.

This paper discusses the analysis of the effect of taxes and subsidies and ZIS (Zsakat, Infaq and Sedekah) to the reduction of poverty in Indonesia in the period 1994 to 2013. The variables used in include taxes, subsidies, ZIS and poverty of the State of Indonesia. The method used in this thesis is a multiple regression method along with the classical assumptions. This study aims to determine the relationship between variables taxes, subsidies and ZIS against poverty. In addition, this study also aims to look at the variables which play a role in reducing poverty. The results using multiple regression analysis, it appears that all the independent variables are not significant and have adjusted R-square is nice. Next to the classical assumption test, based on the results of research there is a violation of classical assumptions in this research is the Normality.

Meteorological conditions play an important role in aerosol pollution. In this study, the relationships between wind, temperature, relative humidity, and aerosol concentrations (PM2.5 and PM10) in Zhengzhou from January 2016 to December 2017 were analysed. Backward trajectory model was also used to investigate the relationship between meteorological parameters and regional transport of pollutants. Significant seasonal variations can be observed in the time series of pollutants and wind, temperature and relative humidity. The simulation of backward trajectories indicated that pollutants from southeast is critical to the air quality in Zhengzhou, in addition to local emissions of pollutants. To improve the air quality in Zhengzhou, joint efforts to reduce emissions in both Zhengzhou and its southeast adjacent regions should be considered.

Introduction: Poor air quality in the heavily polluted cities like Tehran is often the main city problem that influences people health and comfort. The main goals of this study are summarized as: 1) Seasonal pollutants mean variations during 2005, meteorological conditions effects on pollutant concentration; 2) Meteorological conditions case study and pollution spatial distribution for three determining synoptic patterns (MET1, MET4, MET5); 3) Further analysis of the episode from 30th November to 13th December 2005 (MET4); 4) Episode analysis from 30th November to 13th December 2005 (MET4) and 5) Episode analysis from 12th-22th of September 2005 (MET5). These are systematic weather patterns that usually affect the air pollution levels in Tehran. Materials and methods: Concentration changes of CO, PM10, SO2 and O3, as the relationship between the air pollution extreme events and atmospheric conditions in Tehran have been investigated. The hourly air pollution data from 11 representative monitoring sites were used. To understand the relationship between local meteorological synoptic patterns and air pollution, the principal component analysis (PCA) method has been applied to meteorological data. Then for minimizing the data complication the varimax rotations (VR) was used and five synoptic perspectives weather patterns have resulted for highly polluted periods. Results: Pollutants correlation investigation of the five patterns showed that air quality was highly dependent on middle tropospheric high geopotential ridge development, local southerly wind with strong static stability. Conclusion: The most polluted periods were associated with a weak pressure gradient, a weak wind, severe air descent, and radiation inversion.

In a highly competitive retail market like Malaysia, shopping mall facilities and management services that are not customer oriented may drop out of competition and business. This is contingent upon the fact that growing competition among shopping malls in Malaysia in response to rising affluence and purchasing power has raised the challenge of customer loyalty as customers find it easier to defect to other shopping malls. Based on a survey of 250 customers and multiple regression method, three models were developed to assess the strength of the relationship between customer loyalty and shopping mall attractiveness. The models are (I) repeat shopping oriented customer loyalty model; (II) bring friends for shopping oriented customer loyalty model; (III) get rewards and free gift oriented customer loyalty model. In terms of predictive power, model II which accounted for 71% of variance in customer loyalty was found to be the best followed by model I which accounted for 59% of variance in customer loyalty. The third model though significant accounted for only 29 % and hence, did not yield much result in predicting customer loyalty.
