In this study, the effects of Artemia sp. nauplii and micro capsulated feed on growth performance and survival rate of guppy (Poecilia reticulata) and goldfish (Carassius auratus) larvae were compared at the end of three weeks of rearing period. Length of goldfish larvae (4.82 mm) fed Artemia sp. (from 4 to 12/mL/day) were between 7.97 and 9.76 mm at the end of the trial while these values were between 6.80 and 7.21 mm for those fed microencapsulated feed (from 10 to 30 mg/L/day). On the other hand length of guppy larvae fed Artemia sp. (from 5 to 25/mL/day) were between 13.02 and 17.00 mm, whereas these values were remained between 11.98 and 12.38 mm for those fed microencapsulated feed (from 10 to 40 mg/L/day). A similar result was also observed in survival rates. Survival rate of goldfish larvae fed Artemia sp. were 88.91-97.61% in while those fed microencapsulated feed were 6.19-87.14%. On the other hand survival rate of guppy larvae fed Artemia sp. were 99.17-100.00% whereas those fed microencapsulated feed were 57.50-87.50%. Eventually, microencapsulated feed was not as successful as Artemia sp. on the growth and survival rate of larvae of both species.

Diseases resistant genes assemblage for tiger shrimp has been initiated by The Research Institute for Coastal Aquaculture in collaboration with Bogor Agricultural Institute, through transgenesis approach under anti-virus genes transfection. The  study aimed to evaluate the growth performance of broodstock candidates of tiger shrimp at different generati on (F0 and F1). This research was  conducted at 2000 m2size of four ponds in Takalar Regency, South Sulawesi..  The treatment was  different generations of broodstocks, which were: broodstocks originated from F0generation, (A) and F1 (B). The 22.63 to 28.57 g of broodstock candidates were stocked 0.5 ind.m-2 and then reared for 128 days. During rearing period, these shrimp were fed usingcommercial pelleted feed with content 36-38% of protein in dosage of 10-4%/  body weight. Feeding frequency was applied in the morning and in the evening. Measured variables were growth, size distribution, survival rate  and water quality The results indicated that the performances of these shrimps, growth, size distributions as well as survival rates between these F0 and F1 were not significantly different (p>0.05). The growth pattern was relatively equal between treatment  during rearing period. Survival rate of tiger  shrimp in this study ranged from 51.7 to 73.35%. This study have implications on the provision of superior broodstock shrimp in ponds in order to support the sustainability of shrimp seed production in hatchery. Keywords: broodstock, production, transgenic,  tiger shrimp

Experiments were conducted for a period of 90 days to estimate the effects of different feeding frequencies (one time per day: T1, two times per day: T2, three times per day:T3 and four times per day: T4) on growth performance of gulsha fish reared in laboratory facilities. Significantly higher condition factor was observed in T2 (1.61 ± 0.02) and lowest in T4 (1.40 ± 0.01). Significantly lowest SGR and ADG were recorded in T4 fish fed four times per day. No significant difference was obtained among different treatments for FCR and survival rate. The highest RNA : DNA ratio (0.93 ± 0.07) was observed in fish of T2 and the lowest ratio (0.57 ± 0.11) was observed in fish of T1. The results of the present study suggest that in laboratory rearing two meals per day could be supplied for better growth performances as per indication of condition factor and RNA:DNA ratio. The aim of this study was to determine the growth and survival rate of Ctenopoma fish seeds. This study used a completely randomized design with 3 treatments and 3 replications. The treatment in this study was a different feeding rate using natural feed of Tubifex sp  namely A (8%), B (10%), and C (12%) ). The test fish used was Ctenopoma fish seeds with an initial length of 2.40 ± 0.10 cm and an initial weight of 0.32 ± 0.05 g. Fish seeds are cultivated  for 28 days with feeding frequency twice a day. The results of research showed that the use of different feeding rate had an significantly different (P<0.05) on the specific growth  rate and absolute length growth with the best results in the treatment C. The survival rate was not significantly different between treatments (P>0.05). Key Words: Ctenopoma, feeding rate, growth, survival rate

Abstract Salt water recirculation systems using automatic feeders are a new frontier for marine aquaculture. It is possible to decrease the vulnerability of the traditional fish farming in open systems and reduce wasteful feeding and discharge of effluents, as well as increase the economic returns. An experiment with common snook fingerings (4.31 ± 1.42 g and 8.4 ± 1.0 cm) was performed. Three feeding treatments were evaluated: six, twelve and eighteen feeding times per day. Each treatment had three replications. Among the three tested frequencies (fed 6, 12 and 18 times a day), the feeding frequency of 12 times per day (every two hours) showed the best values of the parameters evaluated for production performance. The final weight values, condition factor, specific growth rate and daily weight gain of the treatment 12 feeding times per day were all significantly higher than the lower and higher frequencies. Our results demonstrate that high feeding frequency is not synonymous of higher performance, but is extremely necessary to find out the best range for the target species. Besides, this relationship between feeding frequency and growth performance might change over weight range. Therefore, future studies should address higher weight ranges for comparison to our results.

This is a setback for nile tilapia culture because when the fish reach gonad maturity before reach market size, all the energy demand will flow to reproduction and can cause stunt growth. The utilization of natural compound from papaya seeds can be a solution to enhance growth of farmed nile tilapia and for consumer and food safety. This research aim to know how papaya seed powder can enhance growth and survival rate of nile tilapia. This research conducted into five groups of 5 papaya seeds powder dosage (0, 1, 3, 5 and 7 g/kg) that feed orally to the treatment fishes. Result showed the fishes feed with 5 g/kg papaya seed experienced highest growth performance 547 g compare to control which is 406 g. Same as growth performance, survival rate shown that group feed with 5 g/kg papaya seed had 100% survival rate compare with control which is 66% during treatment periods. Base on this result, we can make conclusion that fish feed with 5 g/kg of papaya seed have a better growth performance and survival rate compare with control group for 30 days treatment periods
