Gelatin is an intermediate ingredient which is oftenly used in many field such as food, pharmacy, and cosmetics. It is usually extracted from pig and cow. Halal issue of gelatin sources and the outbreaks of mad cow diseases encouraged people to find an alternative sources of gelatin. One of the alternative sources of gelatin was duck bone. The aim of this research was to describe physicochemical properties of duck bone gelatin which is extracted by using acid extraction method as an alternative sources of halal gelatin. The extraction of duck bone gelatin used 5% concentration of HCl (hydrochloric acid). The extraction process consisted of four steps, they were degreassing, defating, demineralization, and acid extraction. The result showed that gelatin which was extracted from duck bone had these several characteristic: yield of 6.24%, pH 4.0, water content of 13.43%, ash content of 13.42%, protein content of 65.43%, and whiteness degree of 30.35%. Generally, gelatin which was extracted from duck bone had similar characteristic with commercial gelatin and SNI standard. Further researcher had been suggested to reoptimized extraction method in order to reduce ash content.

Nanocrystalline TiO2 was prepared using sol-gel hydrothermal method to be used as photoelectrode material for dye solar cells (DSC) employing continuous stirring of titanium tetrachloride (TiCl4) with hydrochloric acid (HCl) and deionized water at 70 oC for 6 hours. TiO2 nanopowder was obtained after calcinations in air at 400 oC. The samples were characterized using FESEM, TEM, XRD, BET and UV-Vis optical absorption. This paper discusses the effect of surfactant on the physicochemical properties and the efficiency of the synthesized TiO2 photoelectrode to convert light into electricity.

The possibility of the formation of India perchlorate and mixed ligand complexes has been studied. It is assumed that during the extraction of indium in aqueous solutions of hydrochloric acid at various concentrations and constant ionic strength maintained by the addition of perchloric acid, indium is present in the organic phase in the form of ionic aggregates HClO4 · HInCl4. To study the hydration of Ions, the method of electrical conductivity was carried out in the “In(ClO4)3 - HClO4 - H2O” system. The structure of aqueous solutions of India perchlorates was determined by IR spectroscopy. The structures of trivalent perchlorate India have been established.

The methods commonly used for depolymerization of chitosan and preparation of oligochitosan are discussed. A synthetic approach to oligochitosan hydrochloride with a molecular weight below 16 kDa based on the treatment of parent industrial high molecular weight chitosan with a mixture of hydrochloric acid and hydrogen peroxide is described. A series of analytical protocols are used to determine the physicochemical properties and quality of resulting oligochitosan hydrochloride according to the European Pharmacopoeia 4.0.

The effect pine bark activation by explosive autohydrolysis and mechanical treatment in a ball mill on the yield and properties of resinous and pectin substances and β-sitosterol was studied. Pine bark physicochemical properties after its activation by a batch of methods were studied. It was shown that the activation of pine bark by explosive autohydrolysis result in the highest increase in the yield of extractive substances. The conditions providing the highest yield of target products from the activated pine bark were determined: for resinous substances and β-sitosterol – the use of 0.5 n alkali solution; for pectin substances – the use of hydrochloric acid

Platelet adhesion initiates platelet aggregation and is an important component of the hemostatic process. Since the development of a new form of collagen as a topical hemostatic agent is of both basic and clinical interest, an ultrastructural and hematologic study of the interaction of platelets with the microcrystalline collagen preparation was undertaken. In this study, whole blood anticoagulated with EDTA was used in order to inhibit aggregation and permit study of platelet adhesion to collagen as an isolated event. The microcrystalline collagen was prepared from bovine dermal corium; milling was with sharp blades. The preparation consists of partial hydrochloric acid amine collagen salts and retains much of the fibrillar morphology of native collagen.
