The effect pine bark activation by explosive autohydrolysis and mechanical treatment in a ball mill on the yield and properties of resinous and pectin substances and β-sitosterol was studied. Pine bark physicochemical properties after its activation by a batch of methods were studied. It was shown that the activation of pine bark by explosive autohydrolysis result in the highest increase in the yield of extractive substances. The conditions providing the highest yield of target products from the activated pine bark were determined: for resinous substances and β-sitosterol – the use of 0.5 n alkali solution; for pectin substances – the use of hydrochloric acid

Gelatin is an intermediate ingredient which is oftenly used in many field such as food, pharmacy, and cosmetics. It is usually extracted from pig and cow. Halal issue of gelatin sources and the outbreaks of mad cow diseases encouraged people to find an alternative sources of gelatin. One of the alternative sources of gelatin was duck bone. The aim of this research was to describe physicochemical properties of duck bone gelatin which is extracted by using acid extraction method as an alternative sources of halal gelatin. The extraction of duck bone gelatin used 5% concentration of HCl (hydrochloric acid). The extraction process consisted of four steps, they were degreassing, defating, demineralization, and acid extraction. The result showed that gelatin which was extracted from duck bone had these several characteristic: yield of 6.24%, pH 4.0, water content of 13.43%, ash content of 13.42%, protein content of 65.43%, and whiteness degree of 30.35%. Generally, gelatin which was extracted from duck bone had similar characteristic with commercial gelatin and SNI standard. Further researcher had been suggested to reoptimized extraction method in order to reduce ash content.

The study results of mica bearing rocks from the Mamskoye and Kuletskoye deposits and the processes, involved in grinding and activating muscovite mica from the rocks using a ball and a planetary mills, a disintegrator and a pneumoimpulsive installation depending on different time intervals and other grinding factors, are presented in this paper. The resultant materials were examined by the methods of X-ray phase analysis, derivatography, microscopy and others, which resulted in drawing the conclusions concerning the applicability of different mechanical treatment methods applied in obtaining ground mica for various uses.

Hydrate formation was observed after mechanical treatment of a type I kaolinite and sub-sequent leaching of the hydrazine-intercalation complex with water. Of the different methods investigated (high-pressure treatment, grinding in a ball mill, ultrasonics), a wet grinding of a hydrazine-kaolinite suspension proved to be most effective.

In this article the influence of mechanical activation on sintering process of bariumstrontium-titanate ceramics has been investigated. Both non-activated and mixtures treated in a planetary ball mill for 5, 10, 20, 40, 80 and 120 minutes were sintered at 1100-1400?C for 2 hours in presence of air atmosphere. The influence of mechanical activation on phase composition and crystal structure has been analyzed by XRD, while the effect of activation and sintering process on microstructure was investigated by scanning electron microscopy. It has been established that temperature of 1100?C was too low to induce final sintering stage for this system. Electrical measurements have been conducted for the densest ceramics sintered at 1400?C for 2 hours.

Objective: to carry out the physiological and hygienic evaluation of the working conditions of operators producing chromium disilicide nanopowders by high-energetical mechanoactivation method and to develop the preventive recommendations. Material and methods. The object of research was the technological process of producing nanocrystalline chromium disilicide powder within a planetary ball mill. The hygienic assessment of the technological process, technological equipment and psycho-physiologic evaluation of the working environment of the operators were carried out using the generally accepted psychophysiological, hygienic, and chronometer methods of study. The concentration of nanoparticles in the working area was measured using the diffusion aerosol spectrometer DAS-2702 («Aeronanoteh», Russia), the nanopowder particle size was measured by the device Analysette 12 DynaSizer («Fritsch», Germany), the chemical composition of air samples was determined by atomic emission spectrometry with inductively coupled plasma (ICP-AES) using the device «Ortima 2100 DV» («Perkin-Elmer», USA). Results. It was found out for the first time that the mechanical activation process was accompanied by emission of nano-sized chromium into the air of the working area, which had not been detected before the beginning of the work. The total concentration of nanoparticles in the main room was 1.6-1.9 times higher than that in the working area of the planetary ball mill and exceeded the test levels recommended for nanomaterials in European countries. Conclusion. The basic adverse factors in case of producing nanopowder of chromium disilicide by mechanoactivation method are presence of nanoparticles of metals in the workplace air and intensity of work. We have proposed hygienic recommendations which are aimed at improving the plant design for the high-energy mechanical activation in the direction of ensuring tightness, reduction of manual work operations, audible and visual signaling during the technological process.

The article presents the results of a study of technological parameters (specific mass, bulk mass, volume mass, porosity, quantity cavities between particles, free volume of a layer of the crude materials and coefficient of absorption of solvents) and individual the numerical indicators of the quality (moisture; ash residue: total and insoluble in 10% solution of hydrochloric acid; chopped crude materials; extraneous materials) of the Canadian goldenrod herb. The content of extractive substances was determine. The obtained data will be used in the technological process in the production of extraction preparations.
