HIV/AIDS cases in Indonesia are still high including the infection from mothers to the babies. Infection cases from mothers to babies in Yogyakarta Special Province is also found on babies. The preliminary study also obtained the result that in 2015 not all of the pregnant women who were willing to have VCT (Voluntary Counseling and Testing) in Sleman Regency working area. The data of VCT  in Prambanan Primary Health Center also shows that the prevalence rate of VCT check as a preventive effort was still low. The research is aimed at investigating the correlation between midwife’s support and VCT on pregnant women in Prambanan Primary Health Center in 2016. The study employed observational analytic with a cross-sectional approach. The population of the study was all mothers who did pregnancy examination and got counseling VCT service. The samples used accidental sampling technique. Data analysis used chi-square with the trustworthy rate 95%. The result of the study showed that there was no correlation between midwife and VCT on pregnant women. It can happen because of the midwife as a professional attendant could not attend the pregnant women full time. It can be concluded that there was no correlation between midwife’s support and VCT on pregnant women in Prambanan Primary Health Center in 2016. It is expected that midwives can identify the problem in VCT on pregnant women by giving emotional and respect support to the patients as well as the families.

Prevention of the HIV/AIDS transmission from mother to child should be a focus of common concern, considering that this effort is an effective and broad-impact strategy in suppressing maternal and infant mortality and is an indicator of the degree of public health in a country. Community Health Center with the Voluntary Counseling and Testing (VCT) service in Pematangsiantar has not fully provided the Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission (PMTCT). Therefore pregnant women still refuse to undergo HIV screening. In these circumstances, Pematangsiantar will potentially have an increase in the number of cases. In realizing the vision of health education institutions to integrate the promotion of HIV/AIDS and Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STD) for pregnant women, this research has studied the perception of pregnant women in the prevention of HIV/AIDS transmission from mother to child. So that the appropriate intervention strategy in suppressing the spread of HIV/AIDS can be done. The research type is quasi-experiment with the population in this study was all pregnant mothers who refused to undergo HIV screening at the time of the ANC, 194 people. Data analysis is processed with T-Test and conducted to view differences in the behavior and perception of pregnant women's beliefs against the transmission of HIV/AIDS after the intervention. The result showed there is an increased difference in the value of behavioral indicators and the health confidence of pregnant women after home visits. It is advisable to approach strategies with personal counseling, peer-Education, and home visits in the nets of pregnant women with HIV.

The HIV-1 epidemic in Brazil has displayed new characteristics over time, with an increase in heterosexual transmission and a decline in the male-to-female ratio in AIDS cases. HIV screening was offered to patients attending the Voluntary Counseling and Testing Center in Paulista, Greater Metropolitan Recife, Pernambuco State, in Northeast Brazil, to determine HIV-1 incidence. BED capture enzyme immunoassay (BED-CEIA) was used to measure HIV-1 incidence, comparing it to the AxSYM avidity index method (Ax-AI). From 2006 to 2009, 14,014 individuals were tested, and only 18 pregnant women were diagnosed with HIV infection, resulting in 0.15% annual incidence (95%CI: 0-0.33), significantly lower than in men (1.03; 95%CI: 0.45-1.61) and non-pregnant women (0.50; 95%CI: 0.11-0.89). Despite the low HIV-1 incidence in pregnant women, the high rate of recent infection detected during prenatal care emphasizes the need to increase measures to prevent vertical transmission.

Voluntary Counseling and Testing (VCT) is an effort to reduce the incidence of HIV in pregnant women. The author conducted research on VCT with characteristics of maternal age, gestational age, parity, education, and occupation. The purpose of this study was to determine the characteristics of pregnant women undergoing a VCT examination. This research was conducted in November-December 2018, the population in this study were all pregnant women who did VCT examination as many as 130. The number of mothers who did VCT based on age 20 years-35 years was 102 (78.5%). The number of mothers who did VCT based on the age of trimester 1 pregnancy was 122 people (93.8%). The number of mothers doing VCT based on primipara/grande multiparity was 80 people (61.5%). The number of mothers undergoing VCT was based on higher education 100 people (76.9%). The number of mothers who do VCT based on work does not work as many as 130 people (100%). Judging from the results of research based on the theory that many are appropriate and some are not appropriate both from age, gestational age, parity, education, and employment. Thus, the most variable is jobs as many as 130 people (100%). All health workers, especially midwives, should further improve counseling services on VCT testing for pregnant women and especially in matters relating to HIV disease in pregnant women and to reduce maternal mortality and infant mortality rates, especially in West Java.
