We investigated the epidemic pattern of chickenpox incidence among 47 prefectures in Japan. There were two peaks in chickenpox incidence in all prefectures. The first peaks appear at almost the same time in a year, while the second peaks occur at different times with relatively different types of size and shape. The feature of the second peak might characterize the epidemic pattern of chickenpox. We first introduced the second peak index, that is, the ratio of the difference between the incidence at the point of the second peak and the minimum incidence between the first and second peaks to the difference between the incidence at the point of the second peak and the minimum incidence in the year. There was a close correlation between the second peak index and the magnitude of variation in temperature within a year corresponding to the difference between the maximum and the minimum of the monthly mean of the highest daily temperature. This is the first article focusing on the close relationship between the second peak of epidemic pattern of chickenpox incidence and the variation of temperature within a year.

Background: Several studies have demonstrated that nicotine induces a pro-inflammatory effect due to the upregulation of receptors of the advanced glycation end product as well as the fibroblastic cell migration in the gingiva is reduced in smokers. Thus, this meta-analysis aims to evaluate and compare the effectiveness of root coverage after surgical therapy in smoker and non-smoker individuals. Methods: A total of 15 articles were included in this study in which the different types of periodontal surgical procedures for root coverage of gingival recession were evaluated in both smokers and non-smokers. The databases are searched from 1997 to 2018. The inclusion criteria included the available evidence and the articles published only in the English language. Result: In this meta-analysis, comparing smokers and non-smokers treated with different types of periodontal surgery, the result showed a statistically significant reduction in probing pocket depth (PPD), whereas, Gingival recession height (GRH), Gingival recession width (GRW) reduction and gain in clinical attachment level (CAL) and Keratinized tissue thickness (KTT) between smokers and non-smokers were not statistically significant. The percentage of complete and mean root coverage showed statistically significant variations when compared with smokers. Conclusion: Periodontal surgical interventions exhibited less favorable healing outcomes and there were significant variations observed in the percentage of mean and complete root coverage in smokers than compared with non-smoker.

Eragrostis, the largest genus in tribe Eragrostideae has 36 species in India and with 406 species in the world. The present study investigates the morphological and micromorphological variations of lemma and palea in nine species of the Eragrostis, collected from Panchmahal and Dahod districts of Gujarat. Qualitative and quantitative features of microharis, and epidermal cells in the different regions, apex middle and base of lemma and palae has been observed. Apart from this, undulation patterns also play a key role in species identification. Two major types of undulation pattern ∩ and Ω have been observed in the studied species. The present study concludes that, different types of microhairs, size and shape of epidermal cells and its undulating pattern can be significantly used in delimitation of Eragrostis with the help of all the qualitative and qualitative characteristic features it was possible to prepare a dichotomous key to identify the nine different species of Eragrostis.

The article discusses the notion of toponym, its types and problems of its classification. The article provides detailed analysis of theoretical data concerning the problems of toponyms and their types given in the works of well-known Uzbek, Russian, German and English scholars in the sphere of toponymy. It is asserted that onomastics, in particular toponimics is an interdisciplinary linguistic trend that emerged at interface of linguistics, geography and history. The main characteristics and functions of toponyms as identification, nomination, and description are revealed. The article also highlights different types of classifications of toponyms on the basis of etymological data, according to objects’ nomination, its size and shape, semantic, thematic and geographic principles, morphological and grammatical structure, functional peculiarities and etc.

The structure of hypereutectic aluminum-silicon alloys consists of primary silicon crystals arranged in a eutectic matrix. In the present work the influence of different types of modifiers on the size and shape of the silicon crystals in the composition of the eutectic of the AlSi18 alloy has been studied. The classic for this type of alloys modifier (phosphorus), as well as the nanomodifiers SiC and nanodiamonds (ND) have been used. The results of the microstructural analysis show that the three modifiers used affect differently the shape and size of the eutectic silicon of the investigated alloy.

CMP Technology is still expanding its application field to realize planarization of complicated structures for More-Moore and More-than-Moore devices. The CMP equipment has been developed based on simple rotary motion but with more sophisticated systems for 300mm wafer applications. This paper deals with future prospects of the CMP equipment for micro-and nanopatterns on different types of substrate which are recently on demand to meet technological requirements. These industrial environments make equipment makers grow out of insisting rotary type motions anymore and get new opportunities. This paper describes basic design considerations according to substrate size and shape, and shows a couple of examples for not only large sized wafer, display panels and printed circuit boards, but also thin, flexible and continuous films. Finally, we hope that the design considerations for future CMP equipment make many discussions and solutions to achieve higher quality and throughput in the field.

The cast iron melting process can be based on metallic charge with pig iron or on steel scrap exclusively (i.e. synthetic cast iron). The analysis of the synthetic cast iron microstructure was presented and compared to micros of the cast iron produced on the base of pig iron. The analysis consisted of size and shape of the graphite precipitations and the metal matrix structure, too. The results of examinations and calculations were presented in form of figures and graphite distribution histograms. Based on researches conducted the authors confirmed opinions of heredity of the alloys microstructure cited in the literature.

The Laplace transform of the extinction time is determined for a general birth and death process with arbitrary catastrophe rate and catastrophe size distribution. It is assumed only that the birth rates satisfyλ0= 0,λj> 0 for eachj> 0, and. Necessary and sufficient conditions for certain extinction of the population are derived. The results are applied to the linear birth and death process (λj=jλ, µj=jμ) with catastrophes of several different types.
