Bag filter is one of the most effective methods of dust catcher, and the filter medias is the core part of bag filters. In this paper, we studied the filtration performance of several common filter medias comparatively through experimental methods, and the results can provide certain basis for the dust removal performance improvement of filter medias.

The air quality in the world has been worsening in the last decades due to industrial, vehicle, cigarettes smoke, forest fire, and fuel usage. In this case, fine particles are the world’s greatest concern due to its aerodynamic properties which enable it to travel throughout the world. The current conventional technologies seem to have lost their reliability due to complexity, low removal efficiency, and high equipment cost. Membrane air filter brings new hope to answer this challenge. It gives high removal efficiency with an acceptable pressure drop to fulfill the need for clean air at a lower price. Recently, the introduction of nanofibre membrane as a low-cost membrane may broaden membrane application in air filtration. Compared to conventional membrane, nanofibre membrane offers some interesting features such as higher porosity, interconnected pore structure, and narrow pore size distribution that provide remarkable permeability. In this paper, the microporous polymeric membrane for air filtration especially for fine particles removal is reviewed including mechanism of fine particle removal, membrane preparation, and factor affecting filtration performance.

Particle removal using deionized clean water and centrifugal force (water rinsing) is an effective and commonly used method in the semiconductor industry. Understanding the flow field around the rotating waters is essential in determining the effectiveness and efficiency of the process. In this study, flow visualization is used to observe the jet trajectory and the flow pattern for different flow rates at different rotational speeds. The qualitative and quantitative results show that the rotating disk is completely covered with a water film only at certain values of the governing parameters. The second part of the study involves studying the shielding effect of the carrier on the flow pattern on the waters. The flow cannot be visualized or seen through the shielding. The flow pattern is therefore visualized with the aid of some chemicals (that react and leave a color pattern) on the surface of the water and in the water jet.

Tertiary filtration can be proposed in small wastewater treatment plants with impact on protected water bodies. Rotating disk filters may be adopted, in respect to conventional sand filters, when low availability of space and low investment costs are the prevailing conditions. The overall objective of this research was to evaluate the filtration efficiency of rotating disk filters; to compare effectiveness with traditional sand filters; to analyse thoroughly the importance of particle size distribution in wastewater tertiary filtration. In the experimental activity, conventional wastewater quality parameters were investigated and particle size distribution (PSD) was characterized to discuss the filter effectiveness. The effect of design and operation parameters of tertiary filters were discussed related to particle removal curves derived from particles counts. Analysis of particle size distribution can be very useful to help comprehension of filtration processes, design of filtration treatments and to decide the best measures to improve filter performance.
