Abstract With rapid developments in techniques related to the internet of things, smart service applications such as voice-command-based speech recognition and smart care applications such as context-aware-based emotion recognition will gain much attention and potentially be a requirement in smart home or office environments. In such intelligence applications, identity recognition of the specific member in indoor spaces will be a crucial issue. In this study, a combined audio-visual identity recognition approach was developed. In this approach, visual information obtained from face detection was incorporated into acoustic Gaussian likelihood calculations for constructing speaker classification trees to significantly enhance the Gaussian mixture model (GMM)-based speaker recognition method. This study considered the privacy of the monitored person and reduced the degree of surveillance. Moreover, the popular Kinect sensor device containing a microphone array was adopted to obtain acoustic voice data from the person. The proposed audio-visual identity recognition approach deploys only two cameras in a specific indoor space for conveniently performing face detection and quickly determining the total number of people in the specific space. Such information pertaining to the number of people in the indoor space obtained using face detection was utilized to effectively regulate the accurate GMM speaker classification tree design. Two face-detection-regulated speaker classification tree schemes are presented for the GMM speaker recognition method in this study—the binary speaker classification tree (GMM-BT) and the non-binary speaker classification tree (GMM-NBT). The proposed GMM-BT and GMM-NBT methods achieve excellent identity recognition rates of 84.28% and 83%, respectively; both values are higher than the rate of the conventional GMM approach (80.5%). Moreover, as the extremely complex calculations of face recognition in general audio-visual speaker recognition tasks are not required, the proposed approach is rapid and efficient with only a slight increment of 0.051 s in the average recognition time.

Abstract: XT Square is a kind of building having cultural commerciality function. The existence of this building is very important in supporting artists who live within it. Layout pattern becomes one of accessibility factors in XT Square area. Configuration and visibility shape influence the use of space pattern and people’s interest pattern in accessing every space in the building. The setting system between indoor space and outdoor space will give an easy effort for the people in living in and recognizing the space that it can be accessed comfortably. Configuration and visibility approachs are used in order to analyse the accessibility level of the space usage in that area. The result of the visibility and configuration analysis shows that there are many spaces having low integration that blocks do not integrated strongly and low visibility influences the appearance of the building in that area. This research suggest to open the visibility barrier and give high visibility that it can be recognized. Keywords: configuration, accessibility, visibility, system setting Abstraksi: XT Square merupakan bangunan dengan fungsi komersial budaya.

Due to the effects of climate changing, the importance of outdoor thermal comfort has been recognized, and has gained more and more research attentions. Unlike indoor space where air conditioning can be easily implemented, outdoor thermal comfort can only be achieved by localized thermal management. Using textile is a simple but energy-saving way to realize outdoor thermal comfort. Herein, we report the design of a smart thermal management film with the silver/vanadium dioxide/silver (Ag/VO2/Ag) sandwich structure prepared by one-dimensional (1 D) nanowires. It was found that the Ag/VO2/Ag sandwich film was able to lower the temperature by around 10 °C under intense infrared (IR) radiation. In addition, the Ag/VO2/Ag sandwich structure film showed a thermo-responsive electrical conductivity and an outstanding bending stability, due to network structure formed by nanowires. It was experimentally proved that this sandwich structure was superior to other layer structures in IR shielding performance and thermo-responsive electrical conductivity. The as-prepared Ag/VO2/Ag sandwich structure film has great potential for various applications such as wearable devices, flexible electronics, medical monitors and smart IR radiation management.

Remarkable progress in the development of modeling methods for indoor spaces has been made in recent years with a focus on the reconstruction of complex environments, such as multi-room and multi-level buildings. Existing methods represent indoor structure models as a combination of several sub-spaces, which are constructed by room segmentation or horizontal slicing approach that divide the multi-room or multi-level building environments into several segments. In this study, we propose an automatic reconstruction method of multi-level indoor spaces with unique models, including inter-room and inter-floor connections from point cloud and trajectory. We construct structural points from registered point cloud and extract piece-wise planar segments from the structural points. Then, a three-dimensional space decomposition is conducted and water-tight meshes are generated with energy minimization using graph cut algorithm. The data term of the energy function is expressed as a difference in visibility between each decomposed space and trajectory. The proposed method allows modeling of indoor spaces in complex environments, such as multi-room, room-less, and multi-level buildings. The performance of the proposed approach is evaluated for seven indoor space datasets.

When room space extends from a simple three-dimensional physical space to a four-dimensional spiritual space, when people begin to rise aesthetic appeal to a higher level and emphasize harmony with the environment, the textile works of art at this time were all considered to play one of the most important evolutional roles. Hanging textiles which featured multi-functional made themselves irreplaceable contents in indoor space. From the application and development view of hanging textiles, the article emphasizes on the decorative function and application strategies to look forward to continuously improvement of hanging textiles’ application and design levels in indoor space.
