Laboratory-scale carbon anodes were produced by a new method of high-temperature mould pressing, and their physico-chemical properties were studied in laboratory. The results showed that the bulk density of carbon anodes produced by high-temperature mould pressing are 1.61-1.63g/cm3, they are higher than industrial carbon anode by 0.06 g/cm3, but the specific electrical resistance is higher and crushing strength is lower.

Optical limiters based on several different classes of nanomaterials are reviewed. The systems under consideration include metal and semiconductor nanoparticles and nanoscale carbon materials. For the latter, the optical limiting properties of carbon nanoparticles, fullerenes, and suspended and solubilized carbon nanotubes are summarized and compared. Mechanistic implications of the available experimental results are discussed in terms of the comparison between nonlinear scattering versus nonlinear absorption as the dominating optical limiting mechanism for different nanomaterials and for different physico-chemical states of a nanomaterial.

The article presents the results of physico-chemical studies on the development of nanostructured carbon materials from domestic raw materials. Were obtained and tested micro-mesoporous carbon sorbents for molecular-sieve chromatography of markers and investigated the applicability of carbon sorbents for the separation of protein-lipid complex, and plant bio-stimulator. Carbon sorbents have well-developed porous structure but their disadvantage is the weak mechanical<br />strength. Recently it was shown that some carbon nanostructures have enormous strength. Thus arose the need to give the nano structured elements to carbon sorbent. Creating carbon sorbents containing nanocarbon structure was the aim of our study, as these by sorbents will be very useful for large-scale purification of biomolecules.

The purpose of this study was to determine the unsaturated fatty acid compounds of studied oils, physico-chemical parameters, and the behavior of the four oil types during oxidation and heating. This is a part of a large study effectuated on Carnia sunflower hybrids, PR64H91, PR65A22 and PR64H45 obtained through cold pressing. We followed the evolution of the UV absorption correlated with the peroxide value. The peroxide value has been presented an increased value in the first 12 heating hours, but after this period of time, it has been decreased due to the high temperature instability of the early formed hydro-peroxides. The absorbance between 220-230 nm and the specific absorbance on 232 and 270 nm (characteristic of the conjugated dienes and trienes) have increased along the experiment period. The results were compared with those from regular sunflower oil.
