Alkaloids, a category of natural products with ring structures and nitrogen atoms, include most U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved plant derived anti-cancer agents. Evodiamine is an alkaloid with attractive multitargeting antiproliferative activity. Its high content in the natural source ensures its adequate supply on the market and guarantees further medicinal study. To the best of our knowledge, there is no systematic review about the antiproliferative effects of evodiamine derivatives. Therefore, in this article the review of the antiproliferative activities of evodiamine will be updated. More importantly, the antiproliferative activities of structurally modified new analogues of evodiamine will be summarized for the first time.

This study was done to investigates the usage of natural products as one of the materials in fertilizer application. Urease inhibitors that are commonly used in agriculture are usually chemical based which affects the environment. Introducing natural products will ensure biodegradability of the material. Psidium Guajava L. (guava) has been reported to have properties such as antibacterial, anti-oxidant, anti-cancer, and anti ulcer for medical purposes. Guava leaves extract contains an active compound named quercetin that was successfully reported to exhibit significant urease inhibitory activities. Spectrophotometric method was used in this study with the theory of Beers Law in order to measure the changes in ammonia concentration. Small reduction of ammonia (NH3) concentration with different about 0.1 mol/L was calculated and the releasing was almost equal till the end of incubation time. The guava leaves extract prepared showed the potential to reduce the release of NH3 concentration during urea application.

This review attempts to portray the discovery and development of anticancer agents/drugs from diverse natural sources. Natural molecules from these natural sources including plants, microbes and marine organisms have been the basis of treatment of human diseases since the ancient times. Compounds derived from nature have been important sources of new drugs and also serve as templates for synthetic modification. Many successful anti-cancer drugs currently in use are naturally derived or their analogues and many more are under clinical trials. This review aims to highlight the invaluable role that natural products have played, and continue to play, in the discovery of anticancer agents.

<p class="ADMETabstracttext">As part of our endeavor to enhance survival of natural product derived drug candidates and to guide the medicinal chemist to design higher probability space for success in the anti cancer drug development area, we embarked on a detailed study of the property space for a collection of natural product derived anti cancer molecules. We carried out a comprehensive analysis of properties for 24 natural products derived anti cancer drugs including clinical development candidates and a set of 27 natural products derived anti cancer lead compounds. In particular, we focused on understanding the interplay among eight physicochemical properties including like partition coefficient (log P), distribution coefficient at pH=7.4 (log D), topological polar surface area (TPSA), molecular weight (MW), aqueous solubility (log S), number of hydrogen bond acceptors (HBA), number of hydrogen bond donors (HBD) and number of rotatable bonds (n<sub>Rot</sub>) crucial for drug design and  relationships between physicochemical properties, ADME (absorption, distribution, metabolism, and elimination) attributes, and in silico toxicity profile for these two sets of compounds. This analysis provides guidance for the chemist to modify the existing natural product scaffold or designing of new anti cancer molecules in a property space with increased probability of success and may lead to the identification of druglike candidates with favorable safety profiles that can successfully test hypotheses in the clinic.</p>

A large range of chronic and degenerative diseases can be prevented through the use of food products and food bioactives. This study reports the health benefits and biological activities of the Urtica dioica (U. dioica) edible plant, with particular focus on its cancer chemopreventive potential. Numerous studies have attempted to investigate the most efficient anti-cancer therapy with few side effects and high toxicity on cancer cells to overcome the chemoresistance of cancer cells and the adverse effects of current therapies. In this regard, natural products from edible plants have been assessed as sources of anti-cancer agents. In this article, we review current knowledge from studies that have examined the cytotoxic, anti-tumor and anti-metastatic effects of U. dioica plant on several human cancers. Special attention has been dedicated to the treatment of breast cancer, the most prevalent cancer among women and one of the main causes of death worldwide. The anti-proliferative and apoptotic effects of U. dioica have been demonstrated on different human cancers, investigating the properties of U. dioica at cellular and molecular levels. The potent cytotoxicity and anti-cancer activity of the U. dioica extracts are due to its bioactive natural products content, including polyphenols which reportedly possess anti-oxidant, anti-mutagenic and anti-proliferative properties. The efficacy of this edible plant to prevent or mitigate human cancers has been demonstrated in laboratory conditions as well as in experimental animal models, paving the way to the development of nutraceuticals for new anti-cancer therapies.

A N-methylpyrrole containing polyamide/peptide conjugates which are synthetic analogues of natural products with DNA affinity was synthesised. It can efficiently hydrolyse PUC19 plasmid DNA. The structure of these compound was confirmed by 1H NMR, MS and IR.
