A survey was made during 1946 covering the Amphipoda of the south end of the Isle of Man from an ecological aspect. The object was to revise the records of the area and to obtain additional information about the habitats of the species found. The area in which the survey took place was within a radius of 10 miles from Port Erin.Various sorts of gear were used for collection offshore and it is concluded that the fine-meshed dredge is the most useful instrument for collecting amphipods.A systematic treatment of the species found includes a summary of records regarding habitat for each species. It is suggested that the Amphipoda may be of greater economic importance than has previously been realized.A discussion of offshore, intertidal, and brackish-water habitats includes lists of the more important species obtained grouped according to type of ground and zonation with regard to tidal level and salinity. The importance of offshore species is assessed on a basis of the average number of individuals collected per haul.Comparison of the zonation of littoral and estuarine species with that known from other areas reveals a general agreement. The existence of more than one form of several species of the genus Gammarus is discussed and it is suggested that they are in an active state of evolution.I am indebted to Prof. J. H. Orton for encouragement and discussion, and to Mr G. M. Spooner for allowing me to read a proof of his recent paper.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the influence of motivational leadership and job satisfaction on the performance of South Kalimantan Police Biddokes personnel. The benefits obtained from this study are providing input or additional information that is meaningful to organizations, companies and further research on leadership, motivation, and job satisfaction with employee performance as a reference for further research. This research variable consists of indentpent variables and dependent variables. The independent variable consists of leadership, motivation and job satisfaction. Whereas the dependent variable consists of employee performance. The analysis technique used is multiple regression (multiple regression) with the help of SPSS 20.0 software. The results of the Leadership, Work Motivation, and Job Satisfaction research of the South Kalimantan Police of Biddokkes went well. Leadership, work motivation, and job satisfaction have a partial effect on the performance of the South Kalimantan Regional Police Biddokkes. Leadership, work motivation, and job satisfaction simultaneously influence the performance of the South Kalimantan Police Biddokkes. Leadership has a dominant effect on the performance of the South Kalimantan Regional Police Biddokkes compared to work motivation and job satisfaction.

Abstract - Populations of herbaceous periwinkle, Vinca herbacea Waldst. et Kit., were found on April 2007 on Bansko Hill (Baranja, Croatia), which lies on the south-western edge of the range of this Pontic-Pannonian species. Since V. herbacea was included neither in the handbooks for plant identification nor in the current Croatian Flora Database, a new key for the determination of Vinca L. species of Croatia is presented herein. The herbaceous periwinkle should be treated as a critically endangered (CR) species in Croatia, considering the low number of individuals and the small extent of its occurrence in extremely rare habitats at the margin of its distribution. New recordings of some very rare or »data deficient « (DD) taxa of Croatia are also presented here: Scorzonera hispanica L. and Inula germanica L.

In a recent visit to the Isle of Man, I spent three long days in examining the deposits of the very interesting district in the south of the island, and I wish to draw the attention of your readers to some facts which are, I think, important. Not being an experienced geologist, I hope I shall do so with becoming modesty, and I should feel very gratified if some more practised geologist would verify my statements, which are, however, not rashly made, as I have sifted the question with care and patience.

This study provides information on the community structure of brachyuran crabs associated with the green sponge, Amphimedon viridis Duchassaing & Michelotti, 1864, from a beach on the south-eastern coast of Brazil. Monthly collections from May 2002 through August 2003 were carried out on the rocky bottoms off Itaguá Beach (23°27′07″S 45°02′49″W). Crabs on the green sponge banks were hand-caught during snorkelling sessions, and 638 crabs belonging to 31 species, 19 genera, and 10 families were obtained. Biological parameters, including sponge volume, number of individuals, density, richness, diversity, evenness, and dominance changed considerably over time. Species recruitment and foraging habit are some of the factors that drive the richness, dominance, and diversity patterns of this community. The green sponge banks are important sites for recruitment, refuge, and feeding of many species of brachyurans. Therefore, they are also important for the conservation of this group on the south-eastern coast of Brazil.

A total of 8200 stomach samples was collected from 102 fish species caught by trawl or gillnet during research surveys on the south-eastern Australian shelf from 1993 to 1996. Diet compositions were analysed based on percentages of wet weight of prey. Of the total fish examined, 70 species had sufficient stomach samples (i.e. >10) for further analysis. Ten trophic guilds were identified from cluster analysis. Benthic prey dominated the diets. However, analysis on a subset of 28 abundant species that were commercially and ecologically important, showed that pelagic prey was dominant, particularly for 12 quota species. This suggests that pelagic production contributes significantly to the trawl fishery production. Further analysis on the diets of these 28 species found that although fish was more important than invertebrate prey, there was no evidence of significant predation on commercially important species (quota species)by other fish species. A food web diagram was constructed, mostly based on the diet compositions, guild structure and relative abundance of commercially and ecologically important fish species, to show major trophic interactions of the shelf ecosystem.

Grasshoppers are responsible for considerable agricultural losses in different parts of Argentina (C.O.P.R. 1982). Most of the pest species in Argentina belong to the subfamily Melanoplinae. It is generally accepted that South American melanoplines are derived from a nearctic stock that crossed the Panamanian land bridge (Carbonell 1977). The genus Dichroplus Stål is one of the largest genera within the South American Melanoplinae (Ronderos and Cigliano 1990). Dichroplus contains several economically important species and is believed to be closely related to the nearctic genus Melanoplus Stål (Vickery 1989).

A survey of the sandy beach at Port Erin, Isle of Man, was made in. September, 1931. Observations were made, at a number of stations, involving simultaneous records of the macro-fauna and its density, and certain physical and chemical factors of the sand and interstitial water, as well as tidal level on the beach. The results enable certain general conclusions to be drawn as to the causes of the observed distribution of species, and of the differences between the faunas of this and some Scottish beaches. Plans are given, indicating tidal contours, salinity, and grade composition, in situ on the beach, together with frequency diagrams for five dominant species.
