1. I will tell the lucky and evil signs of goats. Such as have eight, nine, or ten teeth, are lucky, and may be kept; such as have seven teeth, should be removed.2. A black circle on the right side of a white goat is a favourable mark. Likewise a white circle on the right side of one having the colour of an elk, of sable hue, or red.3. The udderlike part hanging down from the neck of goats is known by the name of “neck ornament.” A goat with one dewlap brings happiness; extremely lucky are those having two or three dewlaps.4. All goats without horns, and those that are entirely white or entirely black, promise good. Lucky also are such as are half black, half white; or half russet, half black.5. A goat that marches in front of the flock, and the first that plunges into water, — that has the head white, or blazes on the forehead, — is favourable.

In industry segments such as automotive and industrial equipment the use of compressed porous materials is well known to improve the global acoustic performance of the complete system. Such porous materials should be designed in a specific way in order to reach a significant acoustic sealing performance at different compression rates. Unfortunately, there are no standard measurement procedures nor predefined material characteristics that allow the selection of the right material with the optimal acoustic performance. The main goal of this research is to link acoustic performance of compressed porous materials with intrinsic material characteristics using statistical techniques.

In this study three hypothesis were evaluated. The first claims that the golden section position is an ideal position of an object on a picture and that this position does not depend on picture shape, or on the number of objects on it. According to the second hypothesis, the aesthetically optimal effect is achieved when the focus is on the right side of the picture ( for asymmetrically composed pictures). According to the third hypothesis, there is an influence of previous stimulation on aesthetic experience; that is, because of the monotony, the aesthetic preference of observers will change. An experiment was done, with two sections. In the first section, subjects were asked to put a little black circle, on three different shapes of cards (square, golden rectangle and rectangle), in a such way that the given configuration is the most beautiful one in their own opinion. The second section of the experiment was almost identical to the first one, with the exception that the subjects were asked to put two circles on each of the cards. Each one of the three hypothesis was confirmed by the results of this experiment. The preferred position of the circle is the same as the position of the golden section and it does not change with the change of card shape and number of objects. There is a clear preference of the upper-right corner of cards. The preferred position of an object is changed with repetition of the same stimulation (the same shape of cards and the same number of circles).

AbstractOur understanding of “Love and Power” at a glance seems to be the opposite of one another. Generally, the term “Love” is related to understanding or elements that are always modest, succumbing, helpfull, gentle, doing good or in other words always related to conscience “Love” is done not with the intention of being rewarded, but sincerely done and selflessly. Likewise about the term “Power”, it seems like the opposite of “Love”, as if “Power is something that relies on authoritarianism, governing, regulating without compromise, and found in a system of royal government that has the right or authoritarian to regulate the one under it based on the power that is in it. In this paper, the writer tries to describe the meaning and reciprocity of the two words which are viewed in term of Christianity in terms of Christianity, “Love and Power” is not two words that have conflicting meanings, but are interconnected and influence each other in realizing a complete system or link. So in Christianity, the understanding of “Love and Power” is not acontradiction. Keywords: “Love and Power”

Of all the states in ancient Greece, Attica seems to have had the most interesting and complete system of land defences. A chain of important fortresses, of most of which there are still considerable remains, follows the line of the Kithairon–Parnes range: Eleutherai, Oinoe, Panakton, Phyle, Dekeleia, Aphidna and Rhamnous. It may appear at first that this series of strongholds was designed expressly to mark off Athenian territory, but whilst incidentally and in large measure they served this end, in origin they were intended rather to defend the various roads from Attica into Boeotia. A fresh examination of these forts and their relation to the Attic frontier may be of some service and interest. The natural boundary of Attica on the N.W. is the mountain ridge which begins on the Halkyonian sea-coast behind Aigosthena and continues almost due eastward to the Straits of Euboea, reaching the sea at Cape Kalamos. It is not surprising, therefore, to learn that the early tradition made the Megarid and Attica into a single kingdom. Plato, describing an idealised primitive Attica, gives as the boundaries the Isthmus and the heights of Kithairon and Parnes extending down to the sea, with Oropos on the right and the Asopos on the left.

The unanimous passage of the Income Tax Ordinance (Amendment No. 89) Law, 1992, by the Israeli Knesset fits in a series of amendments, which, during the last four decades, have gradually eroded the principle of aggregation of income of husband and wife introduced in 1941. It constitutes a further step towards a complete system of splitting the income of husband and wife for the purpose of calculating the amount of income tax; its primary purpose, however, is apparently to equalize the rights and duties of the married woman with those of the man as far as the procedural and administrative aspects of the assessment and collection of the tax on the wife's income is concerned. The extension of the right tosplitthe income of the married couple is fairly limited. The amendment for the first time entitles the married woman to opt for a separate computation of tax not only on herearned incomebut also on her income derived fromproperty; provided, however, that such property was either owned by the wife at least a year before her marriage or acquired by her by way of inheritance. Thus, the tax burden on the married couple, which has basically remained the tax unit, has been alleviated to a limited extent only.

In order to enhance the ability of the rescue robot, and to accomplish a rescue mission in special environment, variable pitch crawler-type robot is designed. The structural concept of the new type of variable pitch has been proposed and designed, and this can help to improve the robot's adaptive capacity to complex environment. Then the varying pitch structure has been designed using pneumatic devices, it can ensure simultaneous operation of the right and left wheel at constant speed, and enable the robot to move nimbly through a tight space. The new crawler-type running gear strengthens the security and the stability of the complete system.

Rather than spending their careers trying to prove universal laws or creating something proven but underwhelming, scientists build manageable models. ‘Model-building’ focuses on how this approach can be applied to philosophy. Model-building is an alternative to philosophy’s historical reliance on counterexamples, which tends towards falsification or artificiality. Returning to linguistics, Rudolf Carnap built a complete system of semantics for an artificial formal language, thus discovering new insights about language itself. Where good models are available, we may get our best results by using several methods as our hypothesis becomes stronger if they are independently pulling in the right direction. The model-building methodology’s potential is only just being realized.

SummaryRecently, there has been a proliferation of international agreements imposing minimum standards on states in respect of their treatment of foreign investors and allowing investors to initiate dispute settlement proceedings where a state violates these standards. Of greatest significance to Canada is Chapter 11 of the North American Free Trade Agreement, which provides both standards for state behaviour and the right to initiate binding arbitration. Since 1996, four cases have been brought under Chapter 11. This note describes the Chapter 11 process and suggests some of the issues that may arise as it is increasingly resorted to by investors.

Abstract The target article carefully describes the memory system, centered on the temporal lobe that builds specific memory traces. It does not, however, mention the laterality effects that exist within this system. This commentary briefly surveys evidence showing that clear asymmetries exist within the temporal lobe structures subserving the core system and that the right temporal structures mainly underpin face familiarity feelings.
