PurposeThe COVID-19 pandemic has caused a decline in overall consumption, but luxury sales within offline department stores rose significantly. This study identifies changes in the market environment variable (i.e. pandemics) and their impact on clothing consumption behavior. Moreover, it examines consumer behavior characteristics and provides implications for future fashion marketing and merchandising strategies.Design/methodology/approachThis study analyzed post-pandemic consumption trends by obtaining luxury brand sales data from the Korea National Statistical Office and department stores. Moreover, it investigated luxury consumption fluctuation after the pandemic and statistically analyzed the characteristics of luxury consumers by customer level (CL) that affected sales.FindingsThe results of the study showed that offline (online) clothing consumption at mass markets has decreased (increased) since the pandemic, whereas sales of luxury fashion brands at offline department stores have grown. Moreover, the in-depth analysis showed a significant sales decline (increase) for clothing-centered (leather-centered) luxury brands.Practical implicationsIf such a trend in luxury brand consumption continues, current polarization is expected to be maintained. Therefore, the study’s findings can be used as basic data in strengthening luxury brands and planning products.Originality/valueThis is the first work to undertake a comparative study of fashion consumer behavior, before and after the pandemic, involving the mass and luxury markets in South Korea.

Abstract This study aims to determine the interaction of family and social environment on the vandalism behavior of eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 14 Pontianak. This research method is quantitative with a research sample of 110 VIII students using purposive sampling. Data was taken using a questionnaire. The results showed that vandalism was low at 60.8%, family harmony was 44.7% and the school environment was categorized as very high at 34.4%. The results of the test show Fcount (31,328) > Ftable (3.08) and a significance of 0.00 < 0.05, meaning that family harmony and social environment have a significant effect on vandalism behavior. tcount of the decent family harmony variable -4.486 > ttable 1.982 with a significance of 0.00 <0.05, which means that there is a significant negative effect. tcount of the appropriate school social environment variable -2.547 > ttable 1.982 with a significance of 0.01 <0.05, which means that there is a significant negative effect. Regression equation Y'= 68.074+ (- 0.418) + (-0.313) + e. The determinant value of Adjusted R2 = 0.358, which means that the influence of family interaction and social environment on vandalism behavior is low, namely 35.8%. Keywords: Harmonious Family, School Social Environment, Vandalism.

Global aging has raised increasing concerns on the health and well-being of older adults. Public transport is a viable option to improve the mobility and quality of life among older adults. However, policies that promote the public transport use among older adults are rare. This study utilizes the eXtreme Gradient Boosting (XGBoost) decision tree to explore the non-linear associations of the built and social environment with bus use among older adults in China. The bus use of older adults was obtained from the Zhongshan Household Travel Survey (ZHTS) in 2012. Results show that non-linear relationships exist among all built environment and social environment characteristics. Within certain thresholds, the percentage of green space land use, land use mixture, bus-stop density, and dwelling unit density are positively related to bus use among older adults. Likewise, one social environment variable, the proportion of older adults in a neighborhood, is the key social environment variable. Furthermore, the dwelling unit density and proportion of older adults appear to have an inverse U-shaped relationship. Additionally, age, ownership of motorcycles, and distance from home to the nearest bus stop also show non-linearity. The findings presented in this paper facilitate effective planning interventions to promote bus use among older adults.

Population aging has become a notable and enduring demographic phenomenon worldwide. Older adults’ walking behavior is determined by many factors, such as socioeconomic attributes and the built environment. Although a handful of recent studies have examined the influence of street greenery (a built environment variable readily estimated by big data) on older adults’ walking behavior, they have not focused on the spatial heterogeneity in the influence. To this end, this study extracts the socioeconomic and walking behavior data from the Travel Characteristic Survey 2011 of Hong Kong and estimates street greenery (the green view index) based on Google Street View imagery. It then develops global models (linear regression and Box–Cox transformed models) and local models (geographically weighted regression models) to scrutinize the average (global) and location-specific (local) relationships, respectively, between street greenery and older adults’ walking time. Notably, green view indices in three neighborhoods with different sizes are estimated for robustness checks. The results show that (1) street greenery has consistent and significant effects on walking time; (2) the influence of street greenery varies across space—specifically, it is greater in the suburban area; and (3) the performance of different green view indices is highly consistent.

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of providing motivation and work environment on employee performance at Plaza Toyota Green Garden Branch, in accordance with the indicators set forth in the theory. The values tested in this thesis use the Quantitative Associative testing formula. The results of the validity test of Motivating Variables (X1) get the results with the number 0.425, then the rcount 0.425> rtable 0.279 is declared valid and the Work Environment variable (X2) gets the result with the number 0.404 which means valid because the rcount is 0.404> rtable 0.279. Followed by multiple linear regression tests that produce constants of 1,775 which means there is a positive significance of providing motivation and work environment on employee performance with the equation Y = 1.775 + 0.462 (X1) +0.448 (X2). From the results of the coefficient of determination test conducted, obtained KD = 0.333 or 33.3% means that 33.3% employee performance is influenced by providing motivation (X1) and work environment (X2), the remaining 66.7% is influenced by other variables that are not included in this study. Besides that, from the F test results, an F value of 3.20 was obtained using the F distribution table and a significance level of 0.005, then a Ftable of 3.20 was obtained. So it can be seen that Fcount> i.e. 11,715> 3.20. Means that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted, so that there is a significant influence between the Provision of Motivation and the Work Environment on employee performance at Plaza Toyota Green Garden Branch
