Aim and Objective: The reaction of cyclohexylisocyanide and 2-aminopyridine-3- carboxylic acid in the presence of benzaldehyde derivatives in ethanol led to 3-(cyclohexylamino)-2- arylimidazo[1,2-a]pyridine-8-carboxylic acids in high yields. In a three component condensation reaction, isocyanide reacts with 2-aminopyridine-3-carboxylic acid and aromatic aldehydes without any prior activation. Material and Methods: The synthesized products have stable structures which have been characterized by IR, 1H, 13C and Mass spectroscopy as well as CHN-O analysis. Results: In continuation of our attempts to develop simple one-pot routes for the synthesis of 3- (cyclohexylamino)-2-arylimidazo[1,2-a]pyridine-8-carboxylic acids, aromatic aldehydes with divers substituted show a high performance. Conclusion: In conclusion, this study introduces the art of combinatorial chemistry using a simple one-pot procedure for the synthesis of new materials which are interesting compounds in medicinal and biological sciences.

Various coumarin derivatives have been efficiently synthesized via barium dichloride-catalyzed Pechmann condensation reaction of various phenols and β-keto esters under solvent-free conditions. This novel and inexpensive method has advantages such as short reaction times, excellent product yields, and avoidance of organic solvents in agreement with green chemistry principles.

Alkyl substituted disiloxanes demonstrated promising applications as high performance hydraulic oil, diffusion pump oil, etc. In this study, fluorinated alkyl substituted disiloxane was synthesized via Grignard reaction followed by condensation reaction. Its chemical structure was verified by FTIR and NMR. Measurement results showed that this silicon oil exhibited good high temperature performance, oxidation resistance and rust resistance.

A novel resveratrol-based bio-benzoxazine monomer (RES-al) containing an allyl group has been synthesized using resveratrol, allylamine, and paraformaldehyde via Mannich condensation reaction, and its chemical structures have been characterized by FT-IR spectroscopy and NMR techniques. The polymerization behavior of this benzoxazine resin has been investigated using in situ FT-IR and differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) measurements, and the thermal-mechanical properties of its corresponding polybenzoxazines are evaluated by DMA and TGA. We show that by controlling the curing process of the oxazine ring, the C=C bond in resveratrol, and the allyl group in RES-al, the cross-linking network of the polybenzoxazine can be manipulated, giving rise to tunable performance of thermosets. As all curable functionalities in RES-al are polymerized, the resulted polybenzoxazine exhibits a good thermal stability with a Tg temperature of 313 °C, a Td5 value of 352 °C, and char yield of 53% at 800 °C under N2.

A unique bayberry-shaped MFI zeolite structure with a zeolite shell (1–1.5 μm in thickness) and numerous zeolite nanowires (500–800 nm in length) vertically grown on two sides of the shell is prepared. The catalytic efficiency is significantly higher than that of the conventional ZnO/MFI zeolite.

Polycondensations (condensation polymerization) are stepwise reactions between bifunctional or polyfunctional compoents, with elimination of simple molecules such as water or alcohol and the formation of macromolecular substances. Polyborate ester , formed by this process, gives ceramic materials during pyrolysis. Polymer pyrolysis offers an attractive alternative to the typical high temperature powder processing approach in the fabrication of high-performance ceramics. This approach might also prove to be useful in the fabrication of fibers, coatings, and composites. It is within this framework that the present study was undertaken; its aim is the preparation of boron-containing oligomeric precursors which gives boron nitride after pyrolysis. The precursor was synthesized by the condensation reaction between boric acid and urea (or other N-containing reactive multifunctional compounds). The oligomeric precursor and its pyrolysed products were thoroughly characterized by elemental analysis, IR, NMR, XRD, Thermal Analysis and Transmission Electron Microscopy(TEM). The elemental analysis results of the oligomer are---- C-13.40%, H-5.97%, N-32.44% and B-17.09%. X-ray diffraction and TEM studies showed that boron nitride obtained from this system possess tetragonal structure.

The synthesis, isomeric separation, and identification of β-sulphonic phthalocyanine zinc complexes were reported. While the sulphonic phthalocyanines have been studied extensively, the development of separation technology may enable deeper insights into their isomeric constitution. An ion-pair reversed-phase high performance liquid chromatography (IP-RP-HPLC) method was developed to separate the sulphonic phthalocyanine isomers. The results showed that the product of the condensation reaction is a mixture of all possible isomers with statistical distribution. Several isomers were obtained and structural determination was undertaken by NMR. Based on the IP-RP-HPLC elution sequence of these well-identified isomers, a relationship between the structure and efficiency was deduced: closely spaced intervals of sulphonic groups lead to higher hydrophobicity and shorter retention times on HPLC. Based on this relationship, each HPLC peak was assigned to the corresponding isomeric structure.

A novel tetrafunctional oxazine monomer containing benzoxazine and fluorene-oxazine was prepared for the first time using a Mannich condensation reaction of 2,7-dihydroxy-9,9-bis-(4-hydroxyphenyl)fluorene with paraformaldehyde and n-butylamine.
