In this paper, Stöber silica particles were decorated with polyethyleneimine and silver nanoparticles and Eu-polyoxometalates were grafted on the surface of polyethyleneimine/silica spheres. The hybrid SiO2/Eu-polyoxometalates/Ag particles were characterized by IR, UVvis, luminescent spectra, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscope, and cyclic voltammetry (CV), respectively. The hybrid particles show the bright red emission under UV light which can be observed by naked eyes. The luminescent properties of particles have been investigated which show that Ag nanoparticles have an influences on the luminescence of europium ions. The electrochemical activities of SiO2/Eu-polyoxometalates/Ag particles have been demonstrated by CV measurement. The catalytic results indicate that the hybrid particles show the catalytic properties in the oxidation of styrene and benzaldehyde is the main product of the reaction.

ABSTRACTCatalytic properties of noble metal catalysts are often caused by their nanostructures and the interaction between nano particles and oxides supports. We examine the mean inner potential of Pd particles in Pd/TiO2 catalyst and Ag particles in Ag/TiO2 catalysts using electron holography and HRTEM. And we compare the results of the Pd/TiO2 and Ag/TiO2 systems with our previous results of the Au/TiO2 and Pt/TiO2 systems. In the case of the Pd/TiO2 catalysts, when the size of Pd particle is smaller than 5nm, the mean inner potential of Pd changes to be higher than the calculated value of the mean inner potential which is thought to be higher than the experimental values of bulk Pd by 3-5V. The mean inner potential of Pd becomes to increase gradually as the size of the Pd particle decreases. The rate of the increment in the mean inner potential of Pd is lower than that of Au/TiO2 catalysts and Pt/TiO2 catalysts. On the other hand, in the case of Ag/TiO2 catalysts, the mean inner potential of Ag does not increase though the size of the Ag particle decreases to under 2nm.

Different morphologies of nanoZnO have been synthesized by hydrothermal method and ethanol-assisted hydrothermal method, the quantum yield has been improved by noble metal doping, and also the range of spectral absorption has been widened. Then the products are used in the photocatalytic process of UDMH waste water. It is found that the crystallite size of the products is about 41~46nm, the maximum degradation rates of ZnO/Ag are 92.7% under the ultraviolet light, and 80.2% under the sunlight. The variation of the photocatalytic middle-product under different light sources is analyzed and it is found that the middle-product is decomposed more quickly and throughly under sunlight.

Molybdenum disulfide has been one of the most studied hydrogen evolution catalyst materials in recent years, but its disadvantages, such as poor conductivity, hinder its further development. Here, we employ the common hydrothermal method, followed by an additional solvothermal method to construct an uncommon molybdenum disulfide with two crystal forms of 1T and 2H to improve catalytic properties. The low overpotential (180 mV) and small Tafel slope (88 mV/dec) all indicated that molybdenum disulfide had favorable catalytic performance for hydrogen evolution. Further conjunctions revealed that the improvement of performance was probably related to the structural changes brought about by the 1T phase and the resulting sulfur vacancies, which could be used as a reference for the further application of MoS2.
