Abstract. Since the late 1970s there has been a growing awareness in academic literature, and particularly among Muslim psychologists, of the relationship between Islam and psychology. Indicated by almost 40 years of publications and debates, this progression of interest has pointed toward the potential establishment of an Islam and psychology movement within the landscape of psychological sciences. We provide a narrative review that outlines the constitutive elements and appraises the current state of the field. Attention is given to the predominantly-involved professionals, academics, and associations; as well as to the definition of its subject matter and conceptual approaches. We conclude by summarizing current opinions on how the movement may successfully evolve.

The world is undergoing an accelerated urbanization process marked by social and environmental imbalances. In this context, urban and periurban agriculture (UPA) emerges as an alternative to sustainable urbanization mainly due to its contribution to food security, reduction of environmental impact, revitalization of urban areas, integration of households and physical and psychological well-being increasing. The purpose of this paper is to understand how academic literature deals with urban and periurban agriculture. For that, a scoping / mapping literature review was carried out and its results were presented after identification of relevant scientific studies on UPA, its main aspects, ways in which the term has been defined; and discussion about themes from the selected articles. After this review, the conclusions are: the scientific production on the subject is undergoing high growth rates in recent years; the relationship between UPA and urban dynamics is more important for the definition of UPA than the location of agriculture; and that the aspects that authors found most interesting are: concept and panorama, urban planning and governance, quantitative potential, environment, risk of contamination and techniques and productivity.

AbstractThis article analyzes how the relationship between philosophy and history has been conceived within the study of political thought, and how different ways of conceiving this relationship in turn have affected the definition of the subject matter as well as the choice of methods within this field. My main argument is that the ways in which we conceive this relationship is dependent on the assumptions we make about the ontological status of concepts and their meaning. I start by discussing the widespread view that philosophy and history ought to be viewed as distinct if not incompatible ways of studying political thought, and then go on to describe the view that philosophical and historical approaches should be conceived of as identical or inseparable. I end this article by suggesting that these approaches rather should be viewed as mutually constitutive for the benefit of a more coherent study of political thought.

Purpose Although there is widespread agreement about the importance of and need for unlearning particularly in an organizational context, concerns have been expressed by some researchers with respect to the coherence of the concept. The purpose of this paper is to complement organizational theories of unlearning with a clearer definition of intentional unlearning and develops an “unlearning cycle” comprising of the steps that influence unlearning focused on the need to update knowledge obtained in the past. Design/methodology/approach In this paper, the authors review both the current state of conceptual development and the empirical underpinning of the concept of unlearning and relate it to emerging literature on the links between levels of learning to then propose a conceptual framework which includes employees and managers as key actors in enabling intentional unlearning. Findings Unlearning critics have argued that unlearning has no explanatory value and is unnecessary because clear alternatives and less problematic concepts better frame the research gap that has been identified in the unlearning research literature. By addressing these concerns, this study proposes three key structures to facilitate intentional unlearning, namely, those represented by the unlearning cycle. Originality/value This study sheds light on the relationship across different unlearning levels. In addition, this study attempts to indicate how greater rigor may be brought to the development of research in the fields of intentional unlearning.

This paper is about the relevance, to the definition of freedom, of values or goods other than freedom. In this respect, its subject matter is not at all new. However, I do believe that new light can be thrown on the nature of this relationship by paying more attention to another relationship – one which exists within the concept of freedom itself. There are two senses in which we can be said to possess freedom. Firstly, there is the sense in which we can be said to be free to do a certain particular thing. Secondly, there is the sense in which we can be said to possess a certain ‘amount’,‘degree’ or ‘quantity’ of freedom, in some overall sense.1 I believe that most recent accounts of the relationship between freedom and other goods are inconsistent, because they see those other goods as affecting the truth value of claims about freedom in the second sense, but not in the first.

My doctoral research concerned implementing bicultural curriculum in mainstream early childhood centres in Aotearoa New Zealand. While I explored these ideas from an appreciative inquiry standpoint, some troubling aspects related to the notion of biculturalism occurred. In this article, definitions of biculturalism are examined, as is the relationship between bilingualism and biculturalism, as well as the growing move to replace power sharing implied by biculturalism, with multiculturalism.  In addition to perusing the literature, data were collected through a survey of 76 early childhood respondents, in 2003.  Generally, respondents had a positive definition of biculturalism.  However, when considering whether bicultural practices were a positive expression or not academic literature was divided.  What was interesting in Aotearoa New Zealand was overall those promoting biculturalism were Pākehā and those opposed were Māori.  One conclusion I draw is that the term Tiriti-based better captures the intention of partnership than biculturalism.

The paper is devoted to penal stress and its manifestations at the convicts, suspects and accused persons. This topic has been poorly studied. It is necessary to identify the groups of people especially most in need of prevention and correction of stress state and to define the target effects. The paper presents a theoretical analysis of the concepts of biological and psychological stress. Our theoretical work is mainly devoted to phenomenon of penal stress and factors affecting its formation. We suggested the definition of penal stress concept on the basis of the analyzed literature. The sample included 69 male persons (31 from predetention center, 38 from penal colony), aged 19 to 47 years old. Experimental psychological method of research was mainly used. In the practical part of the paper presents data on the prevalence of the penal stress in predetention centers and penal colonies. In addition, we have studied the relationship of penal stress with punishment stage, the crime characteristics of subjects, individual psychological characteristics, current state. The study allows us to reveal the groups of people in need of the prevention and correction of the penal stress state. We identified some target corrective action also.

AbstractThe syntax-prosody interface concerns the relationship between syntactic and prosodic constituent structure. This paper provides an overview of theoretical advances in research on the syntax-prosody interface. Current theoretical work is situated historically, and is framed in light of the central research questions in the field, including (a) to what extent prosodic structure can be used as a diagnostic for syntactic constituent structure, (b) the significance of recursion in prosodic theory, and (c) how mismatches between syntactic and prosodic constituent structure are modeled in different approaches to the syntax-prosody interface. The paper concludes with a discussion of the current state of the field and directions for future research.

The cardiothoracic ratio (CTR), expressing the relationship between the size of the heart and the transverse dimension of the chest measured on a chest PA radiograph, is a commonly used parameter in the assessment of cardiomegaly with a cut-off value of 0.5. A value of >0.5 should be interpreted as enlargement of the heart. The following review describes the current state of available knowledge in terms of contentious issues, limitations and useful aspects regarding the CTR. The review was carried out on the basis of an analysis of scientific articles available in the PubMed database, searched for using the following keywords: “CTR”, “cardiothoracic ratio”, “cardiopulmonary ratio”, “cardiopulmonary index”, and “heart-lung ratio”. According to the accumulated knowledge, the CTR can still be used as an important parameter that can be easily determined in establishing enlargement of the heart. However, an increased CTR does not directly relate to heart function. In the era following the development of diagnostic methods such as computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, and ultrasonography, CTR modifications based on these methods are used with varying clinical usefulness. It is important to consider the definition of the CTR and remember to base measurements on PA radiographs, as attempts to mark it in other projections face many limitations.

Problem setting. In the context of the ongoing European integration processes, the issue of creating a modern, optimal and effective system of measures of state financial control over the activities of economic entities is becoming increasingly important for Ukraine. First of all, it is necessary to clearly and coherently regulate public financial control, in particular, its types, methods, forms, procedures, as well as the legal status of public financial control in order to prevent violations of financial legislation by economic entities and promote harmonization of the national economy. with the economic systems of other developed countries. Analysis of recent research. Some problems of legal regulation of state financial control have been studied by such scientists as: L. Voronova, O. Grachova, O. Dmytryk, M. Kucheryavenko, T. Latkovska, O. Semchyk etc. At the same time, as we have already noted, the imperfection of legislative regulation (the presence of conflicts and gaps in the regulation of public financial control), the imperfection of the system of public financial control and other factors necessitate further research and proposals for improving existing legislation. in this area. Thus, the purpose of this article is to analyze the current state of legal regulation of public financial control in Ukraine. Article’s main body. The article considers the legal regulation of financial control over the activities of economic entities in Ukraine. The need to improve the current legislation in the field of financial control was emphasized. It was emphasized that the legislator now prohibits tax audits for all taxpayers, regardless of their division into large, small and medium. Excluding large taxpayers from the list of taxpayers covered by the moratorium during the quarantine period without available grounds, in fact, violates the principles of tax law. Conclusions. It is emphasized that the relationship between business entities and regulatory authorities should be as flexible as possible and implemented in the form of public-private partnership. It is proposed to amend Art. 26 of the Budget Code of Ukraine and to consolidate the definition of “control over compliance with budget legislation”, as well as to determine the forms (methods) of its implementation.
